Not an image I wanted to share going into the new year but this was something new for me. Went haikyo hunting with Mighty Marauding Matsuya (+Jeff Matsuya); was quite an experience for a first time haikyo.
This bottle top was nailed to a tree and left exposed to the elements. I was fortunate to glimpse it as I strolled beside a canal.

....The 2nd inexpensive 28mm featured today. I was focusing on through the hole in the tree. Glad there was no critter in there, as I was holding camera at arms length. lol

11/3/19 #2261. My Amaryllis has reached the decay stage. Not feeling great myself today, rather feverish.
Dog life can be harsh in agrar Poland. Those not living on chains or in pens are usually freeroaming which leads to high death rate on badly regulated roads. Hard to say what happened to the one I’ve met today during my hike… I can just hope it’s life was better than the most.
Countless layers of paint that were designed to protect but actually caused great harm to the brickwork, now crumbling away.
Part of the Grade II listed Sipelia Works in Sheffield. A former cutlery factory, now home to the charity Emmaus Sheffield. The more useable sections of the building house formerly homeless men and women plus a great charity shop.
Decaying corn lilies and aspen leaves adorn the forest floor in a tapestry showcasing the cycles of life in nature on display here in Colorado during autumn. Admittedly, this is not my typical photographic subject; however, I’m getting more and more into intimate scenes like this, which I think tell an interesting story and stretch my creativity.

Due to work and hospital appointments for the kids I haven't been out with my camera yet so posting another one from my last walk at Bexhill / Cooden.
I don't take many abstract shots with a zoom lens but loved the colours of these beach hut walls and thought they would make a nice shot.

The work was made during the When Spiders Spin Web residency and exhibition project curated by Junghyun Kim in collaboration with UKAI Projects. Probing the multiple forms of intelligence and knowledge systems embodied in the environment, it proposes an interpretation of a part of the forest located on the land of Lanthorn Farm in Wakefield where a part of the residency took place. It was first presented at the Coreana Museum of Art in Seoul in January 2025.

I've taken photos of this abandoned barn before, but i'm fascinated with the way it looks. It seems to change color with the weather.

Second floor of abandoned and decayed City Trust and Savings Bank (est. 1918)
Campbell, OH
The bank that occupied the first floor was frequented by steel workers at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube company.
Around 1977, almost all the steel mills in the area (at one time steel mills lined 60 miles of the Mahoning River) closed down. More than 5,000 workers lost their jobs and the bank eventually closed. A dry cleaning company then occupied the first floor. Now, it is possible to visit the second floor of the bank which had been occupied by dentists, an X-ray company, the steel workers' union, and other businesses. (See below for info about tours.)
This bank building is close to the Sheet and Tube Company Homes in Campbell, Ohio, which were constructed from pre-fab concrete from 1918 to 1920. The community is now designated as an historic site. A few of the homes are still occupied, but most are abandoned and in ruins. I will be posting photos of tis site in my Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company Homes albums. (My albums are mostly in alphabetical order so that album will be on the last page of my albums.)
The site is open for tours on Sunday afternoons. You need to make reservations. For 4 hours, the cost is $20 which goes to the preservation of the site. You must sign a waiver of liability because some of the site is littered with trash, has steep steps, etc. You will be warned to look before each step and also that stairs or floors might be dangerous.
