I had left Erfurt after a few days, registered with the police there, and was now en route to Eisenach by way of crossing and re-crossing the Thueringer Wald. Between Erfurt and Schleusingen a DDR Volksarmee reservist opposite me had consumed 4 (FOUR) large bottles of beer, opening one full bottle with another. The descent from the summit to Schleusingen was accompanied by continuous squealing of the brakes on the steep descent. I think a class 119 Romanian made diesel was in charge. The final leg was from Meiningen to Eisenach. Somewhere in the middle of this was a bus ride.

Visum voor een eenmalige in- en uitreis voor de DDR. Op de naastliggende bladzijde zijn een wijziging en een verblijfsvergunning (Aufenthaltsberechtigung) gestempeld. Dit zijn de stempels die bij mijn eerste DDR-reis in 1979 in mijn paspoort gezet werden. Het visum werd aan de grens verstrekt en kostte 15 Mark.
Het inreisstempel is van Wartha, het uitreisstempel van Frankfurt an der Oder.
Een bijzonder vervoer naar Sliedrecht waren de wagens met Alpenkreuzers uit Olbernhau in de DDR. Op 23 februari 1990 trok de 6429 zo'n trein vanaf Kijfhoek.
