What luck that the days are gone when even cockroaches could be spies in unusual disguises.
But then, how different is it really today?
To this day I still have dreams of rooms like this. Always looking for a lighted, lockable, clean cabin with a clean toilet.

Berliner Dom is reflected in the GDR parliament. The parliament has been demolished.
At that time in March 1989, the GDR was still active. We exhibited ceramics and were in W-Berlin for 3 weeks. It was time for a visit to the other side of the wall.
At that time, had anyone then asked me what was most likely, Jesus' return or the fall of the wall, I would have had difficulty with the answer,

Für den schweren Rangierdienst wurden in den 80er Jahren entsprechend ausgerüstete V100 beschafft, welche als Baureihe 111 bezeichnet wurden. Ab Anfang der 90er Jahre erfolgte die Umzeichnung zur Baureihe 293, später zur 298. Hier sehen wir am 19.05.90 die 111 001 in Leipzig-Engelsdorf. Der wahre Grund unseres Besuchs in Engelsdorf steht einige Gleise weiter hinten...;-)

Ludmilla 232 635 (Lokomotivfabrik Oktober Revolution, 1980) wordt op deze dag vooral gebruikt voor rangeer- en aanvoerritten. Op deze foto komt de oudgediende met een korte staaltrein langs Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd om wat later weer los terug te keren.
Deutsch: DBC Ludmilla 232 635 (Kokomotivfabrik Oktoberrevolution, 1980) fährt mit einem kurzen Stahlzug an Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd vorbei. Die Lok kam etwas später wieder Tfzf zurück.
Het plaatsje Wefensleben, gelegen aan de lijn Magdeburg - Braunschweig kent nog typische oost-Duitse sferen. Sinds de val van het communisme is het inwonersaantal hier meer dan gehalveerd en dat is ook te merken aan het aantal reizigers op dit station, alsmede hoe het station erbij ligt. Het kenmerkende stationsgebouw wat dichtgespijkerd is, en de overwoekerde sporen rechts van mij kom je bij vele stations tegen in het voormalige DDR, en beschrijft het station van Wefensleben.
De CargoUnit / Ost-West Logistic Vectron 193 045 is met een fraaie grijze containertrein onderweg naar Oss (NL). In de containers werd graan vervoerd. In de verte zien we een andere homogene trein bestaande uit blauwe wagons.
Henschel steam rotary plow (DR SSH71) at the TBw Staßfurt.
25 were of these rotary snow plows were built by Henschel in 1941.
After WWII, 6 of them served in east germany, 10 in west germany, 8 in austria and one in france.
They were taken out of service in the late 70's (west germany) and 80's (east germany).
5 of them are known to exist today.

Not only are these plastic egg cups a design from the DDR, but the Meyer Optik Görlitz Diaplan 2.8/80 projector lens producing that bubble bokeh is from the former East Germany too. Entire scene is about 6cm across.
To make that bubbly background, a metallic pan scourer is illuminated by a mobile phone torch and I'm hand-holding a UK 10 pence coin (about the size of a US quarter) to give the impression of a full moon. Diaplan lens mounted to the camera with a home-made and 3D-printed adaptor.

2015 beherbergte der Bahnhof Grieben (Meckl) noch sein komplettes Portfolio als Technik aus der ehemaligen DDR. Neben den heute immer noch aktiven Hl-Signalen, waren am westlichen Bahnhofskopf auch noch WSSB-Sicherungsanlagen für den dortigen Bü zu finden. Klar mussten diese dokumentiert werden und genau dies sollte am 04.07.2015 gesehen. Das Wetter war leider mehr als mau und so sollte es nach diesem Bild auch nach Hause gehen. Leider viel der entsprechende Zug aufgrund einer randalierenden Person am Bad Kleinen aus. So wartete ich den auf den Takt eine Stunde später was den Sonnenstand jetzt verbesserte.
Ich hab es bis zur Beseitigung der WSSB-Anlage nie mehr nach Grieben geschafft und so ist das Bild von 628 651 und 620 das einzige mit diesem Bü.
