Construction date: 1895 - Architect: William Henry Skinner
Built of Auckland basalt with Oamaru limestone dressings - St Paul's, Symonds Street, is the third building occupied by the parish. It is known as the 'Mother Church' of Auckland as the first St Paul's was also the first church built in the city. The foundation stone was laid by Governor Hobson on 28 July 1841 and the first service was held on 7 May 1843. In 1884 a temporary wooden building was erected to the design of William Skinner, on the site of the first church. This site was still considered for the replacement, permanent church but in the end the more central location of the Symonds Street, Wynyard Street intersection was chosen. William Skinner's plans were accepted but it was decided to leave the church unfinished at a lower cost.
The foundation stone, from the first St Paul's, was relaid for the new church on 11 June 1894 and the building was consecrated the following year. The fine carving of the capitals and label stops was completed by William Feldon in 1910-11.
The foundation stone for the permanent chancel was laid on 11 April 1915 but the addition did not proceed until 1936. It was dedicated on 29 October that year. In 1945 the vestry briefly considered completing the church tower and spire as a war memorial.
The church features some interesting internal decoration and fittings including Bishop Selwyn's throne, communion patten and chalice presented to him by Queen Victoria. Set into the walls in the south west corner are carved stones from Westminster Abbey, Canterbury Cathedral, Yorkminster and St Paul's Cathedral.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, Kungsträdgården (“The King’s Garden”), which is one of the city’s most popular parks, is also home to the city’s biggest display of soft pink cherry blossoms.
At their peak bloomage, the roofing of pink and white flowers over the entire park and its parallel boulevards is quite the sight to behold.
In 1998, sixty-three Japanese cherry trees were planted and each spring under the cherry blossom trees, people gather to soak up the warm sun, eat ice-cream, gossip, and play chess.

Finally added a 85mm lens to my kit and spent the afternoon testing it on the streets.
Thought I would make a collage out of these last ones.
Was a great date. Dancing seems to be the main theme and then got to rock out too at the end.
Killer video skybox she has.
I thought her leather outfit was killer and then I saw her bikini...
Hello
Anyway, now maybe I can get around to posting some more recent pics.
Denise is a beautiful woman and I love spending time with her.

St Andrew's is the oldest survivng church in Auckland, having been erected in 1847-1850. It was built in a prestigious location, close to the colonial governor's residence in an elevated part of the early town. Associated from the outset with the principles of the Free Church of Scotland, the building was constructed to a simple rectangular design. It was built using local basalt and Mahurangi 'mudstone', overseen by the architect Walter Robertson. Its appearance contrasts with Anglican and Catholic churches of the day, and reflects the Scottish origins of its congregation. Early attendees formed an influential part of Auckland society, and sat in rows of pews that were rented out according to social rank. The governor of the colony, Sir George Grey (1812-1898), and the minister's family were allocated seats on either side of the pulpit, while soldiers from the local garrison occupied rows in the centre.
St Andrew's was transformed in the early 1880s, reflecting its role as the mother church of Presbyterianism in the region, as well as the prosperity of the local Presbyterian community. Major additions included a prominent front portico and offset tower, executed in a Greek Revival style, which vied with the nearby Supreme Court and Government House for architectural splendour....

A characteristic feature of the horns of adult male African buffalo (southern and eastern populations) is that the bases come very close together, forming a shield referred to as a "boss". From the base, the horns diverge downwards, then smoothly curve upwards and outwards and in some cases inwards and or backwards. In large bulls, the distance between the ends of the horns can reach upwards of one metre (the record being 64.5 inches 164 cm). The horns form fully when the animal reaches the age of 5 or 6 years old, but the bosses do not become "hard" until it reaches the age of 8 to 9 years old. In cows, the horns are, on average, 10–20% smaller, and they do not have a boss. Forest-type buffalo horns are smaller than those of the savanna-type buffaloes from Southern and East Africa, usually measuring less than 40 centimetres (16 in), and are almost never fused.

while I've been officially grown for more than a while now I think this was the year that my adulthood 'switch' officially turned on in my head and the more that happens the more I'm ok with it.
'Grown' always felt like something worrisome before but now I think I'm realizing it's not so bad after all.
