This beauty turned up in our car park at work today. It was originally built in Coventry in 1959. It has the most wonderfully sounding V8 engine I've heard in a long time. The present owner bought it as a box of bits and rebuilt it himself.
I think this is the one my grandfather drove. Looks like his crewmates on the turret.

Following the success of the Daimler V8 based MkII saloon in the 1960s, and the success of the new Jaguar XJ series cars, in 1969 Jaguar introduced the Daimler Soverign based on the XJ6. In reality it was an upmarket XJ6 Jag fitted with optional 'luxury' extras and a Daimler radiator. This is a Series II saloon but was also available as a two-door coupe. This was on sale at the NEC Classic Car Auction (2012) for £13,950.

What the driver thought was a stone in the tyres turned out to be a major problem in the clutch!!!!
What a come down,,, main dealer during warranty to sitting on bricks and the local bodger 2 months later.
