Lavenham, Suffolk, Classic Car Rally Sunday 30th August 2020 was one of the few Summer rallies to actually take place during the Covid pandemic of 2020. It produced a good selection of classic, mostly British, marques, with a preponderance of Jaguar & Daimler models.

Photos taken during the video shoot for JAGtechnic after they had completed a full engine rebuild of the 3.8-litre straight six which is at the heart of this 1956 Jaguar D-Type 'Long Nose' (393RW) on behalf of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.

Originally built in 1922 & reconditioned in 1927. Body by London-based Dodson family (who established the Vectis Bus Co in 1921). Acquired by the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum in 2017 for restoration (it has housed chickens somewhere on the island for many years). There is an appeal to raise funds for the restoration.

The 1909 Daimler-engined KPL Bus produced at Coventry.

The Daimler Motor Co was founded by Gottleib Daimler about 1886 in Cannstatt in Germany.

Richard Simms, a young British engineer was much impressed with Daimler engine and acquired the Daimler patents to British empire in 1890. Harry Lawson bought these from Simms in 1896 and he formed The Daimler Motor Syndicate, and so two Daimler motor companies were formed, in Germany and England, each being totally independent of each other. The English company built the first Daimler in Coventry in 1897. The company built Daimlers at Coventry until about the 1970s, and today just exists in name badge form.
