Description of work: The historic illustrations included in this project were originally published during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many originally appeared in publications that predated the widespread use of photography for art documentation. These engravings, line drawings, and plans reflect both the technological and aesthetic standards of their time. By their very nature, they often represent subjective interpretations of the monuments and works depicted, and as such they offer fascinating insights into the cultural values of art and architectural history during the formative years of these disciplines. In the context of these images the terms ""reconstruction"" and ""rendering"" have been used to distinguish between the artists' speculative reconstruction of a ruined work from the artists' perspective drawing or rendition of the design.

Snake Valley is a north-south trending valley that straddles the Nevada Utah border in the central Great Basin. It is bound by the Snake Range and the Deep Creek Mountains to the west and the Confusion Range to the east. The valley is the gateway to Great Basin National Park and Lehman Caves, which is located in the western part of the valley and on the southern Snake Range.
Though it is relatively isolated from civilization today, the human presence in Snake Valley goes back 12,000 years. The oldest accessible evidence of this is the Baker Archeological Site, a Fremont culture habitat maintained by the BLM. Current towns in the valley include Baker, Nevada (home to the Great Basin National Park Headquarters, Great Basin Heritage Area office, and Great Basin Visitor's Center), Garrison, Utah, Burbank, Utah, EskDale, Utah, Callao, Utah, Partoun, Utah, Trout Creek, Utah, Gandy, Utah, and "Border, Utah", a community around a rest stop built across the Utah-Nevada state line called the Border Inn, along U.S. Route 6/U.S. Route 50. Today, the main industries in the valley are farming and ranching, especially sheep ranching.

In the immediate vicinity of the former control tower of Haamstede airport (the current Duinhotel Burgh-Haamstede) is a former German command bunker of the Befehlsstand für Flugplatz type.
Haamstede airport was opened in 1931 as Westenschouwen airport. The name was soon changed to Haamstede airport. In September 1939, after mobilization was announced, the pilot training of the Wapen der Militaire Luchtvaart was moved from Soesterberg to Haamstede. On March 13, 1940, the airfield was given an exclusively military function by order of the Ministry of Defense.
In the first days of the war, the Luftwaffe carried out some air raids on the airfield, in which around twenty Fokkers and Koolhovens were destroyed. On May 13, the airfield had to be evacuated by order of Commando Zeeland. The men were placed in position between Scharendijke and Serooskerke, but the Netherlands capitulated shortly afterwards.
The Luftwaffe then quickly restored the airfield. The Germans could use the airfield well for the defense of their shipping convoys along the coast. Between 1940 and mid-1942 there were usually one or two Staffeln (squadrons) fighter aircraft stationed at Haamstede. As the war image changed and the Germans had to prioritize defense of the coast elsewhere, it was less used and finally closed down in 1943. To prevent Allied landings, the airfield was deactivated.

Los Angeles Zoo - Kaloa the jaguar was born at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE on 7/12/01. He moved to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, MA on 4/12/02 and the Denver Zoo in Denver, CO on 12/3/03. He has lived at his current home at the Los Angeles Zoo since 4/6/05.
These photos are part of my current Cross-dressing and fetish collection. Dressing up in feminine clothing and exploring my fetish is something I enjoy as a personal hobby. I especially love the feeling and look of glossy PVC, Corsets, Gloves and Thigh High Boots.

Floodlights were secured on USS “Current” ARS-22’s rails and directed into the waters around the ship at sunset.
Armed sentries were posted during darkness to defend against any attempt to attach an explosives charge to USS “Current” ARS-22's hull.
Early each morning, USS “Current” ARS-22 weighed anchor and moored starboard side to AMASTRA.
At the end of each day, USS “Current” ARS-22 departed AMASTRA and re-anchored in the center of Nha Trang Harbor for security.

The U.S. Naval War College hosts the 71st Current Strategy Forum (CSF) in Newport, Rhode Island, June 7-8, 2022. The first CSF was held on May 9th, 1949 under the title “Round Table Talks.” CSF offers an opportunity for the nation’s public servants, scholars and senior military officers to join the college faculty and students to discuss the future strategy of the United States. Over the years, CSF has expanded to include a cross section of America’s civilian and military leadership to encourage a wide-ranging debate on national and international security. The building opened as the Bechstein Hall in 1901 (as a recital room next to the German piano company’s showrooms). Anti-German feeling force it to close in 1916, and to be sold for a fraction of its value at an auction. It was bought by the department store Debenhams, and reopened as the Wigmore Hall in 1917. Since 1992 it has been owned by the Wigmore Hall Trust, which carried out a major refurbishment in 2004.
The Hall focuses on chamber music and singers. The only non-classical music strand in the hall is an annual series of jazz concerts (began, I think, with Julian Joseph in 2000).
I have only been to the Wigmore Hall once, for Richard Galliano and Michel Portal in 2007.

Plant fossils in the Pennsylvanian of Ohio, USA.
"Carbonization" refers to fossils that are preserved as dark, flattened, carbon-rich films. This is a common preservation style in plant fossils, but some fossil animal groups are usually carbonized - for example, the graptolites.
The abundant plant fossil fragments shown here are in siliciclastic sedimentary rocks of the Pottsville Group, a Pennsylvanian-aged cyclothemic succession in eastern Ohio that contains nonmarine shales, marine shales, siltstones, sandstones, coals, marine limestones, and chert ("flint"). The lower Pottsville dates to the late Early Pennsylvanian. The upper part dates to the early Middle Pennsylvanian. The Lower-Middle Pennsylvanian boundary is apparently somewhere near the Boggs Member (?).
Notice that many of the elongated plant fragments are oriented more-or-less parallel to each other. This is the result of current alignment, probably in an ancient fluvial environment.

Our everyday life is can often be described as a flow, that is constantly taking us forward. We pass by places, things and people, leaving our memories and experiences behind and we sometimes don’t have an opportunity to stand up, stop and look around or behind ourselves, to see all the way, all the traces, the inanimate witnesses, that silently remember us passing by. In this photo series I sought to slow down, disconnect myself from the motion and look back, look up and down. I moved to the sides and touched the objects, had a closer look at them, inspected the marks, textures and lines, tried to observe them back and seek for the clues for the stories they had witnessed.

This is my version of the French roses pattern. I found the quilt and was inspired to make a quilt. This one is done entirely with fabrics I had on hand, both stash and scraps. If it turns out nice, it will become a quilt that I donate to Margaret's Hope Chest. I hope to do a baby girl quilt in this pattern next, but only if this one turns out ok. The abstract floral and leaf shapes are raw edged appliques and will fray up and be soft like a rag quilt after being washed. The lighting my sewing room is really bad on this snowy day. The background fabric is white Kona. Update February 18: I have this top completely put together. I need to come up with a backing before I can quilt it.
