Currently erupting! February 16, 2009.

Current stock of alcohol in our apartment: the kirsch is nearly gone, courtesy of Tng's colleagues (was bought to add a small amount to fondue), the Tiger Radler is left over from our Christmas party (2% alcohol, basically lemonade), the other beer was left by one of Tng's friends. Makgeolli and wine are mine.

A heb-sed (jubilee) chapel built by Amenemhet III (Dynasty XII) shows that Tell Basta was in use during the Middle Kingdom and a mudbrick palace found on the north-eastern edge of the site in 1962 and thought to belong to this king, is currently being restored. The palace has a number of halls, chambers and columns and plaques depicting Bastet and statues of Amenemhet III and his ministers were also found there. A large area of Graeco-Roman mudbrick store-houses has also recently been unearthed near the palace site.

With an eye on current events in Sudan, the Wayamo Foundation and the Africa Group for Justice and Accountability (AGJA) hosted a public symposium on transitional justice and international criminal law on 19 May 2023, at the Aga Khan University, Graduate School of Media and Communications, Nairobi, Kenya

The symposium focused both on transitional justice approaches and mechanisms that have been used in recent years, including truth commissions and reparations schemes, and on the domestication of relevant international criminal laws so that justice and accountability can be achieved closer to victims and survivors. The discussions also covered the current situation in Sudan and explored tools available to document international crimes and human rights violations for future accountability purposes.

Description of work: View from the riverside promenade northeast towards the Ostrow Tumski (Cathedral Island) in Wroclow, Poland, formerly the German city of Breslau. This island was the site of the city's earliest settlements, which had become a fortified town by the 10th century. It is no longer a literal island, because an arm of the Odra river was filled in in the 19th c., although the original name remains in use. The twin pointed spires of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist are visible at right, and the single crossing spire of the church of the Holy Cross at left.
