Chinese dish called "lan ban huang gua", I think it means cured cucumbers. Basically these things are salted and then flavored and served cold.. haha i think.
My mutant Cucumber, I had to move it out from under the lights because it was blocking the light from the rest of the plants. It's five time the size of its siblings. By moving it I think I shocked it into blooming. Maybe we will have fresh cucumbers by Memorial Day!

The cucumber plant thrived in the greenhouse giving lots of nice juicy cucmbers. THe Tomatoes were good too, but it seemed like the cucmuber plant was having an adverse effect on the tomato plants which died off. This year we didn't grow the cucmbers and had more tomato plants which did better.
Making pickles was apparently a mongo success! Jamie, Normando, Pumpkin Lord James, Brian and I made 22 pints of pickles ranging from classic dill pickles to hamburger dills to spicy pickles to experimental spicy garlicy dill pickles. A wonderful GX-IV Urban Garden harvest jubilee!
We used fresh, homegrown cucumbers and dill. The 63 garden-fresh cucumbers weighed approximately 10 pounds.
There is a special jar earmarked for Christmas 2009.
We tested some hamburger dills at lunch on some grilled hamburgers and they were startlingly delicious. This is round one of pickle making. More to come in the coming weeks. Thanks Soil Prime!

Cucumber, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and feta. With a lot of salt and pepper and a little bit of Italian dressing!
This salad is a variation of the Too Hot Tamales' cucumber-tomato salad from their City Cuisine cookbook.
They call it Cucumber Falls, but I do not see any falling cucumbers. False advertising, if you ask me.

Food Font event was at the Ripe! festival at the Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland Ohio. People made food alphabets out of cucumbers. The food was from Schwartz Fruit and Vegetable Farm located in Chesterland, OH.

The Lemon Cucumber seedlings now have their third sets of leaves and are big enough to plant in the Square Foot Garden. I'm planting them in 5 squares with 2 plants per square.

I took 4 cucumber plants from Donald - 2 healthy, 2 sad. The sad ones survived and are now growing (about to get CRAZY).
