This chunk of rock known as the Cube which sits below Spearhead Mesa behind.

Designed by Tomoko Fuse.

From the series Cubes and lights.

You are getting to know me pretty well now, I've told you how much I love glass, you MUST know that I adore lights and you might have guessed that I'm a creative, who's ALWAYS thinking about the 'next' 'creation'.

So, I had bought seasonal baubles, had the cube and the tiny lights, put them together and this was the result.

From the series Cubes and lights.

Yes, with white baubles and lights.

Been doing it for years, each year a different colour theme, although for me the colours of Christmas are still red, green and white!

It is very decorative and you can put it anywhere!

I love creativity and versatility...

Hope you this warms up your day.

Thanx for visiting,

Magda (*_*)

Cube tesselation by Ralf Konrad

I wanted to break with this good old tradition to photograph transparent tesselations on the windows, so I had to make a special sustaining system with a frame :)

Front of these reminds me of Bedford CF.

and this time I added more texture and EVEN toned down my palette.

"The Cube Wodonga is a state-of-the–art entertainment centre in Wodonga’s central business district, located at 118 Hovell St.

It is owned and operated by Wodonga Council, and is a community asset available to hire for community functions and celebrations, conferences, events, launches, weddings, film screenings and much more.

The venue celebrated its first anniversary on Sunday, August 25, 2013 and is a unique venue in North East Victoria. In the first twelve months the venue has hosted over 350 events and attracted an audience over 72,500.

The venue can be tailored to suit almost any event or show. It has a large auditorium that can open up to the courtyard outside or can be divided to make a smaller, more intimate auditorium for smaller meetings or gatherings.

Its automated retractable seating means the venue can be set-up in theatre style (410 seats) or over 800 standing room in flat floor mode (for live concerts). Alternatively it can seat up to 300 people at roundtables for conferences or dinners."

Cube houses Rotterdam

The original is 40 inches by 40 inches.

For each cube I used a fill pattern that was almost like asphalt and then colored them.

But for the tops I tried a filter/texture/grain and color and it was washed out looking so I left them white for now.

fill -- asphalt

adjustment -- hue saturation

Made by Nissan, the Cube was offered in the US in 2009-2014. It was actually the 3rd Generation.

Bubble cube with some nice colourful reflections

Guy holding a cube. Didn't really focus on taking a good shot but somehow I like it.

Folded from a square sheet of paper. I came up with this tessellation in the summer of 2011.

My first intention was not to fold the 8.4.4 tiling with cubes but to tessellate cubes with all pleats hidden behind. This technique of hiding pleats behind is simple yet very useful, and will appear in my coming works. Back view is here.

The Inexpressible Cube is a waterbomb, with all the structural pieces hidden inside and a color-changed knot on top, as a closure. There are diagrams available, if you'd like to try it.

It's not complex, really, just difficult.

Final model -

Square twist tessellation folded into a Kasahara seamless cube.

Tant paper. Folded from one 35x35 cm paper, with a 32x32 square grid.

After preparing the grid, you need to cut 4 rows (or columns), leaving a 32x28 grid.

This is the first one I tried, leaving no space between each tess and each face border line. I think that leaving a space (at least one row and column), will give a better result and allow to appreciate the square twist in every cube face.

But we´ll see ....
