Polarlicht und der Haukland Strand

Looks like the sky is doing battle.

5:47 p.m. Note the black sky at the bottom of the clouds. My weather app says nothing about thundershowers between Sonora and Sonora Pass (CA Hwy 108).

There were a few heavy showers earlier in the day. By sunset, no clouds to be seen.

17 Nov 2021, sunset was at 4:47 p.m.

Greetings Everyone...

Geez, I don't post for a while & I get ton of Flickr Mail... I truly appreciate the concern when some of you notice I'm missing in action!

Yeah I'm OK... had to take a small break from Flickr & other Social Medial for a few days while I recover from back surgery. It was minor & I'm doing better.

I have mostly kept the the entire Realm of CSSS active while I was getting some much needed rest. I'll be widdeling away @ the current Photo Ques for the 150+ Active CSSS groups in a few days also.

The month of July in 2023 was special. I'm only currently posting the series from 10th of July. This series will finalize here in a few days or less. I'll be posting content from this month for a long time comin... There were special days & nights & this was one that I was able to capture in full 4k!

On July 12, 2023... Early Morning or Late Night whichever you prefer. This was & will go down in my record books as one of my best night videos ever.. This Overnight Supercell was packed full of my kind of fun! The end result will seriously get your eyes glued to the screen for this one. (That's if you your in to my type of thing) Cloud to Cloud Supercell Lighting.. & much more...

Darken the Lights & Get Ready... Its coming soon!

AQI 113 (unhealthy for sensitive groups), temp 82F, humidity up to 32%, which is high for us. Could be rain higher up the mountains, but we sure don't need lightning.

I had to look at a picture I took of the neighbors' Deodar Cedar last year. Yes, it's crooked! Its scrawny appearance is due to on-going drought for many years.

Our sky was filled with these beautiful cumulus clouds with heavy wind and no rain. I know there's a lot to this series but as a science geek and lover of weather I couldn't decide on just one, I wanted to share all of its beauty with you

I'll never get tired of shooting the sea, the sky, the sun and its dreaming light ... White Angel

The day started with snow low in the foothills of Tuolumne County, California. Very dark clouds in the afternoon. Clearing skies just before sunset.

Now I’m confused — it’s 100 F down here, but there are ice crystals up there to form the fire rainbow.

Brilliant sunlight reflects offf San Francisco Bay while ominous clouds loom overhead.

Not sure when my employment with the #gswanullarbor ended..

This was near the end of our lovely Xmas #roundAustraliawithSpelio trip...

This slide was accidentally scanned at a higher resolution so hit the Z key a couple of times on a large monitor or just the L key for a full-sized image. All the scans are good for a zoom-in..

Too large a file to edit here and give it more Gamma, but it was a dull day. Typical Nullarbor.. #seeonscreenNOTES

This image shows a vintage Volkswagen Beetle parked in a dry, outback landscape, likely in Australia, with a person attending to a campsite.

The scene depicts a form of car camping or a road trip, with a tent and laundry hanging on a line in the background.

The car's hood is open, suggesting a possible repair or maintenance check.

The vehicle is a classic Volkswagen Beetle, a model that has been popular in Australia for decades.

The landscape, with its sparse vegetation and arid ground, is characteristic of the Australian outback, potentially in a region like Corner Country.

The ex South African couple in the Nissan Patrol and Tracker van we met at the Pink Roadhouse can be followed on FB and Instagram @celiebee13

They had very bad luck with the weather with mud all the way up this track the next day after we managed it in 2WD.

They had front and rear diff lockers on in many of the bad spots, especially coming into the last few 100m into Mt Dare on the creek crossings. We managed the detour tracks there OK but when they got there in the dark the signs weren't

See the story about the trouble Hamilton Station has with some morons camping on the property here..

Some idiot got at the historic Eringa cattle yards with a chainsaw!!

They should go somewhere else far away from people who enjoy and respect historic remote places..

Hamilton Station

I need somewhere to vent my anger and total disgust. I’m sure you get plenty of emails like this, but I had to email someone about it.

Bob (my husband) went to Dalhousie a couple of months ago and noticed that camping facilities were available at Hamilton Station. He is going back through that way in a couple of weeks and we thought we’d check out the web for a description of facilities at Hamilton Station. It sounds wonderful and then I read the paragraph below about vandals and thieves.

We have travelled this country far and wide for over 40 years and have noticed a lot of vandalism over that time, as I’m sure you have, but this takes the cake. No wonder so many places are closing their gates to travellers. Some people are just morons! Sorry for the tirade, but it makes my blood boil. Like the police say, ‘See something, Say something’, or at least take a rego number. Theresia.

This is the information from Hamilton Station that Theresia mentions. It comes from the ExplorOz website.

www.exploroz.com/Places/40214/SA/Hamilton_Station.aspx

Hamilton Station is a working cattle station in South Australia, providing unpowered camping and cabins for travellers. Facilities include toilets, showers, laundry, BBQ's, fire pits and an undercover outdoor eating area. It is open from April to September.

hear the song about Hamilton Station here... youtu.be/ZxJsouz1kz8

Camping is not permitted anywhere else on Hamilton Station due to repeated issues with campers, livestock, watering points, fires, toilet paper and other rubbish. In addition, during the tourist season of 2013 some idiot took to the historic cattle yards at Eringa with a chainsaw (for firewood presumably). This was incredibly disappointing as these yards were erected in the early 1900's whilst owned by Sidney Kidman and they are a historical feature.

The Pastoral Board of SA has proclaimed that there be no camping between the official camping/cabin facilities provided and Dalhousie itself. As Dalhousie is only about 70kms from Hamilton homestead, there is no need for camping within the restricted areas and campers will be asked to vacate.

We have opened these camping facilities due to the increased tourist traffic and the issue this was causing in terms of camper safety and interference with cattle watering points. If you intend on camping on Hamilton Station, please only camp at the campground. If you wish to use the campground, we will welcome you with open arms!

Sunset here today was at 5:44 p.m. PST. Looking forward to Spring Forward to Daylight Savings Time on 14 March. ;-)

More monsoon moisture from the Southwest! As much as we need rain, we do not need lightning! This area has been lucky as far as smoke goes. We have mostly high smoke, which blocks some of the sun's heat.

End of last long day before turning back…. #Roundaustraliawithspelio

Long Beach has a great public art program including some very large murals on buildings. This one is in the downtown area.

Thank you all so very much for your comments and faves, but most of all I thank you for just taking the time to look. I appreciate each and every one of you! Gracias. Merci. Danke. Obrigado. Grazie. Go raibh maith agat. Tapadh leat. Gratias tibi.

Changing seasons in the last week of Fall, a few days before the sun heads North again.

The two smooth, disc-shaped clouds above the bumpy, cumulus cloud are cap clouds, also known as a pileus or a scarf clouds. Seen near Belleville, Michigan.

I was honored to have the group CSSS: Clouds / Pileus choose this photo as the group's cover photo.
