I've been a CS2 user for quite a long time. It's always done what I've needed it to and never felt the need to upgrade the software. Until now.

I WANT CS5

I've put before and after comparisons online a few times...but usually it's off camera compared to finished image. This is an edited image before and after touching up using CS5 and is probably one of the best examples I have of just how awesome CS5's content aware tool is.

Don't get me wrong, it's not always PERFECT, but once you get used to it and know what it can and can't do it's amazing.

Okay look at the top image, taken in front of a painted wooden mural in Bristol. A tired mural...there are chips in it, rubbish stuck on it, cracks in the board and someone's written all across it. Usually editing something like this with CS2 would take quite a while and would probably involve a lot of cloning and making up the background just to get it done. This took me around 15 minutes. Times that by the 16 single shots I had to do with the same background. :s

Aside from the right hand side of the image which admittedly I did just clone and make up, CS5's content aware tool did the rest. And fairly accurately I might say!

The only issues I really had was with the parts where the blue curved line intersected the white writing....the content aware tool initially only took out either one or the other and drew back in the other one.

Anyway, if you edit your images and haven't already downloaded the trial I'd highly recommend you do so.

Adobe CS5 Visual System and Packaging, 2009-2010. Design by Tolleson.

This is the photo I started with, as you can see it was in pretty bad shape.

Thanks for looking.

Taken at the Port of San Francisco.

Processed entirely in Camera Raw by sliding all the sliders, starting from Exposure down, all the way to the right, then experimenting with easing each one back to points that I liked for creating this effect. Added the border in CS5 for a finishing touch. The End:)

My charms for the etsymetal charm swap. Technically these are late, but I'm hosting this swap and don't have everyone's yet - so I scored some extra time, woot! 19 more to go....
