An aerial photo of the camp Moremi Crossing in midst of the Okavango Delta. Even though, the camp only consists of a main building with a large veranda and a few very comfortable tents, it is the biggest camp in the delta, and one of the most enchanted places I've ever have been. If you look for an extraordinary destination for your next trip, Moremi Crossing should definitely be on your list.

Topsham Level Crossing and Station on the Exmouth Branch,

There is a half hourly service and the trains cross here.

You can tell it must be a refined area with the signal box having net curtains.

In must be in a more privileged area than I am used to since there is a 30 minute service here and places the size of Oakham and Stamford only get one train an hour

Wildebeests Crossing the Mara River - Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

For anyone who has the opportunity to see the wildebeests crossing the Mara River, it is a spectacle not to be missed! This is part of the annual migration, where 2.2 million wildebeests make their way up the Western Serengeti, north into Kenya, and then back down the Eastern Serengeti to the southern plains where their calves will be born. Crossing the Mara River is the most dangerous part of the journey, as hungry crocodiles are often lurking in the water looking for a meal!

For several days, we watched as thousands of wildebeests congregated on the opposite side of the river. We hoped and hoped that we would get to see them cross. On our last day, we parked under a tree, hidden in the shade well back from the banks so that we wouldn't scare the wildebeests from crossing (they spook very easily). Each time they would wander down the banks, and then go back up and stampede away from the river for no apparent reason, we would think of giving up. Perhaps this was not our lucky day. But our guide convinced us to stay, and after waiting patiently for a couple of hours in the midday heat, a brave wildebeest finally made the leap into the water. This was all they needed...once they go, they ALL go! We drove right up to the river banks for a front row view, knowing that the wildebeests were no longer concerned with our presence. Thousands of wildebeests stormed across the river in a spectacle of sight and sound that must to seen to be believed! When the dust settled, all who attempted to cross were safely on our side (well, as safe as you can be with lions roaming the savannah!). No crocodiles today....

The BRC&W loco had only 32 months service left with BR after this photo and was withdrawn in May 1986, being cut up (as were many of the class) two years later in 1988 at Vic Berry's in Leicester.

The island to the right of the bridge is the uninhabited rock of Inchgarvie. The castle on it was built in 1513 and has was used as a prison and at one point, a place for plague victims to be contained.

With the recent snow slowly beginning to melt away, CrossCountry HST power car no. 43301 glides over the railway bridge at Broadholme, north of Belper, working 1V52 the 06:58 Edinburgh to Plymouth service. This is a shot I've been meaning to do for a while and I'm quite pleased with the result!

The CrossCountry HST fleet would be withdrawn within seven months of this photograph being captured.

This trail offers a picturesque access to East Clear Creek, crossing the creek near a moderately deep section. There are excellent opportunities for fishing and sightseeing. Expect the trail to be steep and rocky in places.

Grippy track crossing platform. The city and CSX came to an agreement to make it easier to access Schuylkill Banks for those who want to enjoy recreational activities along the banks. Before, we had to pass through rail car couplings that just sat on the tracks there. If you were on a bicycle or wanted to walk the dog you had to go up to the street level bridge and then walk down many steps to get to the river.

The quite accurate location of the box was 428034 (Easting) 489312 (Northing), seen here on the NLS maps maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=16&lat=54....

In the 1960s we always spent a week with my Dad's relatives, near Gateshead. The early journeys were by Hall Bros coach and a stop was always made at Leeming Bar. I used to see this crossing cabin from there. When we went in 1966 the journey was by car so, when we did stop at Leeming Bar on the way home I took the opportunity to walk across and have a look inside.

The line now forms part of the heritage Wensleydale Railway.
