This is an improved version of this video of mine: www.flickr.com/photos/josh-rokman/14689376506/in/set-7215...
For the original video, I had to move fast to capture the dragonfly before it flew off and I did not have my tripod handy, so I shot the video handheld. This created a great deal of shakiness in the video. For this version, I used Muvee 'Turbo Video Stabilizer' software to stabilize the video, and then I put it back in Photoshop to put a box around the video to make up for the reduction in resolution as a result of the stabilization process and added some crossfading scene transitions as well.
The song here is an original creation of mine called "Glass Rainforest". You can check it out here: soundcloud.com/josh-rokman/glass-rainforest

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I have to say that Holt has one of the weirdest outfits in my Monster High collection. It's a mishmash of many different patterns and colors. Plus, when Holt wears this combo, it stands out even more since he has vibrant blue skin and orange, flame hair. His shirt derives inspiration from the yin yang being half black and half white. It compliments the tattoo between his shoulder blades quite nicely for this reason. His pants scream court jester to me because they are striped, but then the bottom portion has a flame design, which reminds me of my Heath doll. And to complete the look, Holt wears this very gaudy red, faux leather type jacket. This is reminiscent of Michael Jackson's red "Thriller" jacket...but an updated version. I can't see this ensemble looking good on pretty much any other Monster High boy doll. The colors all clash, as do the variety of prints. But I will say that Holt pulls this bizarre getup off quite well, and I think it makes quite the statement! I'd love to find some of his tiny plastic accessories in the future--he came with some cool things like headphones, which I can see being very handy/fun.

"'Wish You Were Here' is the title track on Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here. The song's lyrics encompass writer Roger Waters' feelings of alienation from other people. Like most of the album, it refers to former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett and his breakdown. The main riff came to David Gilmour at home while playing on an acoustic guitar, the riff became something which he continued to play in-between takes at Abbey Road Studios where it caught the attention of Roger Waters. They collaborated to complete the song, as Waters had already written some lyrics. In 2004, the song was ranked #316 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
In the original album version, the song segues from 'Have a Cigar' as if a radio had been tuned away from one station, through several others (including a radio play and one playing Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony), and finally to a new station where 'Wish You Were Here' is beginning. The radio was recorded from Gilmour's car radio. Gilmour performed the intro on a twelve-string guitar, processed to sound like it was playing through an old transistor radio, and then overdubbed a fuller-sounding acoustic guitar solo. This passage was mixed to sound as though the guitarist was sitting in a room, playing along with the radio; it also contains a whine that slowly changes pitch—emulating the heterodyne between two drifting AM radio signals.
The intro riff is repeated several times and reprised when Gilmour plays further solos with scat singing accompaniment. At the end of the recorded song, the final solo crossfades with wind sound effects (reminiscent of 'One of These Days' from the 1971 album Meddle), and finally segues into the second section of the multi-part suite 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wish_You_Were_Here_(Pink_Floyd_song)
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Tracing an illusion
I saw the movie ‘bout the hell made of colors,
The overall painting chapped and divided by shadows
To hide love…
Above
The sins of fathers crossfading on their sons,
The multiplied burden that makes us who we are,
Hiding love…
Above
The framed sense of freedom, the illusion of possession
The dreams about mirrors, the reflection of dreams…
Hiding love…
Above
You, the brave and sober
And you, drown in sorrow…
I dreamt about the paradise of a primitive sun
All the colors united by just a ray of light…
By love…
Above
The bodies intertwined in each others, like roots of an old oak,
The craving for life, the longing for death,
For love…
Above
The need of explanations, the Gods booked, just in case
The ego of neutrino, the heartache for the moment of grace,
For love…
Above
You, the brave and sober
And you, drown in sorrow…

The large and bright "star" in the center of this image is actually the planet Neptune with its moon Triton appearing very close to the planet at about the eleven o'clock position. At the time this picture was taken Triton was about 14 arc seconds distant from Neptune and had a magnitude of 13.6 (Neptune's magnitude was 7.8, which would make it just over two hundred times brighter than Triton). The next brightest moon of Neptune is called Nereid which at magnitude 19 is probably just beyond the faintest objects recorded in this image.
You can use the link to the "World Wide Telescope" that appears in the comment provided by astrometry.net to view this photo against a background provided by the Digitized Sky Survey (use the "Image Crossfade" control to switch between the two images). You can then note that the images of Neptune and Triton are not in the survey (as planetary bodies they are "wandering stars"). The sky survey also shows the true extent of the galaxy PGC 68401 (which appears only as a stellar-like core in my photo, refer to the Flickr image notes).
Photographed on the morning of August 27, 2012 with a 5 inch aperture, f/10 telescope and a Sony NEX-5N camera (ISO 3200, a stack of nineteen images each exposed for 10 seconds, producing a total exposure integration time of approximately 3.2 minutes).

Google Street View is a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides panoramic views from positions along many streets in the world. It was launched on May 25, 2007, in several cities in the United States, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide.
On each of these vehicles there are nine directional cameras for 360° views at a height of about 2.5 metres, GPS units for positioning and three laser range scanners from SICK AG for the measuring of up to 50 meters 180° in the front of the vehicle (the scanners fitted to his car appear not to be SICK scanners). These are used for recording a rough 3D model of the surroundings, enabling faux-3D transitions between distinct panoramas where the environment images are momentarily mapped onto this 3D model while being crossfaded to create an animated perspective change as the user travels from one panorama to another.
Privacy advocates have objected to this Google feature, pointing to views found to show men leaving strip clubs, protesters at an abortion clinic, sunbathers in bikinis, and people engaging in activities visible from public property in which they do not wish to be seen publicly. The concerns have led to several temporary bans of Street View in countries around the world. Google maintains that the photos were taken from public property; however, an individual taking pictures of private property using a ladder to gain a view not normally available to a pedestrian would be prosecuted for invasion of privacy or harassment in many jurisdictions worldwide. Google has yet to address this concern. The service also allows users themselves to flag inappropriate or sensitive imagery for Google to review and remove.
THE BEATLES: ED SULLIVAN SHOWS - Mirror Spock
Includes all 1964 thru 1965 appearances - in mono and stereo - chapters for each song!
Here is a review..................
"When I first heard of Mirror Spock remastering the Beatles performances on the Ed Sullivan shows, I thought to myself why? I know some other collectors did too. What else needed to be done that the legit DVD collection didn’t already offer in terms of sound and visual presentation? I already had a clue as to the visual upgrade I could expect by noticing on the back cover of the DVD keepcase, that the screen captures taken from each show, looked extrodinarily clearer than I’ve ever seen. This intrigued me. The disc does not have a paste job on it, rather it appears to be silk screened. Another clue for me as to the work and quality involved. The disc opens up with a beautiful menu that you can access any show, play all, or go to chapters. Works better than most legit pressed DVDs! We are given two choices for the audio: A remastered mono and a stereo presentation.
First I choose the mono option and compared it to the legit DVDs. First off, the Mirror Spock plays louder and has more punch to it and is preferable to the legit DVDs mono. The stereo image he created works well enough to sense instrument and vocal seperation. Yes, it works. It’s like quasi stereo probablly, but it does bring out the performances to a different level hearing it sonically this way. It improves your enjoyment ten-fold.
Now in regards to the visual quality, I did always think the legit DVD’s looked fuzzy and not clear for something that was supposed to come from the master video tapes. It always disappointed me. As soon as you start viewing Mirror Spock’s—-the jump in clarity stunned me! To me it looks as if he had access to the actual video masters and the legit DVDs now look as if they are old bootleg VHS quality. Sections where there was smear and ghostliness are basically cleaned up. The contrast from camera shot to camera shot is now consistant and scratches and distortions are fixed so that stretched aspect ratios are adjusted. In those cases you have what seems to be a smaller image on the screen with slight black lines on edges. But that’s ok as those shots are now normal ratio. Mirror Spock did cut out the supporting acts and commercials and only Beatles content is left intact; some crossfades are needed to help with the transitions. I can live without the supporting acts and commercials as I have those on the legit DVDs. What’s great about this is that it’s just the Beatles performances. They look clearer and cleaner than anything I’ve ever viewed before from these shows, and the sound is improved and just as good remastered in mono as well as in Mirror Spock stereo.

A Time For Celebration...
Christmas (Old English: Crīstesmæsse, meaning "Christ's Mass") is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world.
A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide. Christmas is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians.
Derived from Greek Khrīstos (Χριστός), a translation of Hebrew Māšîaḥ (מָשִׁיחַ), "Messiah"; and mæsse is from Latin missa, the celebration of the Eucharist.
- The earliest Hymn and music is: Corde natus ex Parentis -

Here they come - her royal hotness (Elizabeth Hurley, in case you can't tell) and his divine right armness (the insanely talented Shane Warne), come to charm the crowds and be celebtastic at the 2011 Ampney Crucis Summer Fete.

One of the pieces Maine Squeeze did was w/ Barb Truex (who has a show on Wednsdays called "Crossfade" on WMPG)
on this beautiful old little banjo ukulele. Barb is found in the loopin' set besides being an active composer, sound designer, & teacher (let's not forget radio host) here in the southern Maine area.

* Programming. Creation and manipulation of sounds using virtual instruments.
* Karaoke service. Creation of karaoke backing music for personal use.
* Pre-production. Preparing a song prior to recording, from arrangement to instrumentation and other logistics.

Miami est. 1896, pop. 2.6MM
• considered Miami's oldest bar because it operates under 1912 cabaret license, 1st ever issued in city • when Dade County went dry, 1913, 2nd floor became a speakeasy known as "The Bakery" because it was located above an operating bakery • speakeasy added gambling • gangster Al Capone said to have been a customer
"After Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega, the former dictator of Panama, was convicted on drug and racketeering charges, federal prosecutors celebrated [at Tobacco Road] in a room upstairs. The phone rang: President George H.W. Bush was on the line to offer congratulations." -New York Times
• bar had incarnations as strip club, gay bar • temporarily shut down in drug raid ordered by Gov. Bob Graham, 1981 • music every night, past performers include George Clinton, Koko Taylor, David Bromberg, John Lee Hooker, Dr. John, B.B. King & Albert Collins • Wikipedia
• rising land values made demolition inevitable • last call Sat, 25 Oct, 2014 • Kickstarter campaign to raise $50K for reopening in another location attracted 81 backers, $5,271 • Tobacco Road Demolished -Miami New Times
• "Best of all is however Tobacco Road, Miami’s oldest pub located nearby. Once upon a time, tobacco ships from Cuba used to dock and unload there and the sailors and stevedores needed hearty sustenance. That tradition is kept on at the pub/restaurant which offers specials of steak or seafood on alternating days. At night, it gets even better. Live music makes the place hop. Bikers show off their incredible rides, Miamians come to eat, drink, dance and simply have a good time until 2am. On weekends, the parking lot is converted into an outdoor market with stalls selling clothes, jewelry and paintings. A clairvoyant will tell you your future and you will go home having made a few new friends and heard some outrageous tales." -The Single Woman Traveler

Wow, I never realized how many different artists I have xD Well, yeah!
WKXL-FM Control Room Circa 1990. I was such a lousy DJ. Most of the library was still vinyl, but I was lazy so usually stuck to the CD's which were conveniently under the desk.
Recording (like phone calls and promos) was still done on reel-to-reel, which is off camera to the left, and edited with a grease pencil, razor blade, and adhesive tape! This blows my mind when I think how much easier and more powerful even the simplest digital audio editor is to use.
Just to the left of the control board is the cart players for commercials etc. These were like 8-tracks in size, but usually only had one track and were about 30 secs long.
Like an 8-track, you just popped it in and pressed play - no rewinding. You would edit your commercials on the reel to reel and then dub them down to a cart when it was done.
The commercial scheduling was a pain in the ass, because you had to play different ads on different schedules and during different parts of the hour. I would always screw it up. Most of the reason I would screw stuff up is that I worked in the studio alone on Saturdays, so I never during my whole time there could just ask a question.
If I asked the program manager a question, she would usually look at me like I had two heads.
Another pain in the butt was trying to time music to finish up next to a live broadcast, like network news or UNH football. I would actually hand off to the UNH football announcer in Durham just using the clock - he could'nt hear me, he just knew when to start and we would sync clocks. This was especially a big problem with 'artsy' CD's which did stuff like list the tracks and their length in tiny cursef in circles around the edge of the CD.
I think a large part of Joe Jackson's success is that you can easily read all of his liners, his music is widely popular from rock to comtemporary and he has lots of short hits for filling tight time slots. Joe Jackson is a DJ's best friend.
On the other hand, long Led Zeppelin songs are good when you need to poop. Being a DJ means pooping with a stopwatch - not fun.
Stuff I would get in trouble for:
1. Playing Boogie Wonderland.
2. Playing 'Cocaine Sex' by Renegade Soundwave.
3. Missing spots (ads).
4. Crossfading (the girl who had the shift after me worked at Venus De Milo in Boston and showed me how to match BPM for crossfading and scratching)
5. Mispronouncing 'Terrance Trent D'Arby' (DEE-ARBY).
6. Mispronouncing Bruce Cockburn (its inexplicably pronounced CO-BURN.
7. Actually being in the presense of the program manager (thankfully rare).
8. Screwing up the UNH football remote hookup.
9. Dead air.
10. Screwing up a REALLY IMPORTANT live CBS special news bulletin during Iraq War I.
From a September Seahawks game. I accidentally captured a cross-fade between the Seagals and a play on the big screen at the end of the field.
If this doesn't capture the classic American male fantasy (doing battle while hotties look on), I don't know what does.
