Amazing how the northern lights display sometimes.

When looking at this picture i only saw one thing "skull and crossbones"

I posted this one on facebook and many people thought it had been photoshoped to look like this. But if it looks like this, then you dont need to do any photoshoping.

Enjoy

A Momento Mori for Friday 13th!

The ruined Old Kirk at Anwoth in Galloway, dates from 1626, although an earlier church seems to have stood here before it, perhaps dating back to the 11th century. It fell out of use in 1826 when the new parish church opened. This wonderfully atmospheric place was used as a location for the film Wicker Man and features the grave of the Covenanter John Bell, shot by 'Cruel Lag' during the Killing Times, in 1685. The momento mori skull and crossbones features on the Gordon Tomb within the church.

After seeing the set photos for Civil War, I was tempted to make Crossbones, because he looks epic!!! So I finally finished him up with somewhat of a painting job. Don't worry, I will paint the white on the helmet.

Illustration for Blowback magazine

Was inspired to use photography and vector again after the first illy I did for Blowback so decided to grab a recent Lomo LC-A photo i'd took that i'd messed up by putting my thumb over the lens.

Used that mistake to my advantage and layered over some vector magic to make what you see above!

I decorated one egg this year.

I always find it poignant passing Redcross Way in Southwark, a quiet back-street running parallel to Borough High Street. On a plot of land surrounded by London Underground hoardings there's a big rusty iron gate adorned with ivy, ribbons, flowers, feathers, jewellery and other totems – and with a bronze plaque bearing the epitaph: 'R.I.P. The Outcast Dead'.

This is Cross Bones, a pauper's burial ground that was used to bury the prostitutes who worked in Southwark’s brothels or 'stews' and who were excluded from Christian burial. The plot of ground is at the point that is furthest away from all of the local parish churches . It is thought that over 14,000 “single women” were buried here in the centuries up to the seventeenth century.

Of those recovered over 60% are thought to be children, many bearing signs of tertiary syphilis.

The the iron gates in Redcross Way have been transformed into a shrine, a living communal art-work. It is a sad and still desolate place despite this. It has been under threat of redevelopment for many years but it looks as though a local community group has succeeded in getting commitment to built a garden of remembrance as part of the overall development

Crossbones Graveyard is a post medieval burial ground for single women recruited by the Church to work in the Brothels and kitchens. Thousands of skeletons were found in an excavation by Transport For London, many to be children

My Skull and Crossbones leotard

I was really excited about this set. I almost ran out of daylight for a pic, and I would have been one sad girl. I didn't notice that I missed the pirate's rosey cheeks until I uploaded this. Each cookie is an aspect of the invite that I liked. My fave might be the striped #1 or maybe the map #1. In any case, this is the kind of set I like. Somethig to go by so I don't have to think too hard, and a good base to use for my designs!

The ship was my son's design. he has had his eye on the invite since I got it. Seems he wants to hang it in his room, so he's been hovering, waiting for me to finish. He came by, inspected and said, hey, where's his ship?! So, it seemed logical to add one! Good job Evan!

So you see, they are becoming little cookie-ers!

This is my custom Lego crossbones, it's not civil war crossbones it's just my own take on crossbones.

One of two small booklets issued as advertiisng and publciity material by the National Benzole Co. Ltd of London in about 1932. Each shows examples of a selection of surviving milestones across Great Britain and gives a little history as to each. Each page also contains an admonition as to why you should buy petrol or fuel containing National Benzole; the company being the umbrella organisation owned by British benzole producers and that distributed it as a blended additive to petroleum spirit.

The covers show the same contemporary speeding motor car and an ancient stone. This is for the second series of "Famous Milestones: issued called Passing the Milestones. This doubel page shows the "Skull & Crossbones" milestone at Woodhead in Cheshire where the stone at this repudletly deadly corner was kept in repair by the publican of the adjacent "Georeg & Dragon Inn". The image shows the junction, along with the milestone and a fine finger post, and a passing bus - a Leyland by the looks of it but which operator?

LEGO Marvel Collection - Crossbones (PopPunkMunky)

Note: The skull and crossbones on the mask was a joke, not part of the mask as issued, in an attempt to halt the disease. 12,000 died in Australia and between 20-100 million around the world, more than were killed in the War

I'm not really into the whole skull fad so I was worried I wouldn't be able to pull this project off but I like how it turned out. They showed me what they wanted the skull to look like but other then that I had free reign. The cake flavor is cookies and cream with a buttercream filling. The cupcakes are vanilla with a cookies and cream filling. The decorations are all done in fondant. TFL!

Sedlec Ossuary, Kostnice Sedlec, or "Bone Church" in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic. The ossuary contains somewhere around 50,000 human skeletons which have been used to decorate the ossuary, in the form of a bone chandelier, bone chalices, and 6 large pyramids of bone. These pyramids were stacked in the ossuary by (according to legend) a half-blind monk around 1511, when a mass grave was unearthed and the bones needed a new home. In 1870, František Rint was emplyed to put the bones in order, and so the ex-woodcarver did; among his works of bone art, he left behind his signature in, of course, bones.
