The "Skull & Crossbones" nebula (NGC2467) located in the constellation "Puppis".
This object was imaged in narrowband across multiple nights.
The total integration time was 27 hours and 58 minutes for all three narrowband, Sulfur II, Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III filters and Red, Green and Blue wideband filters for the natural colour stars.
Exposed through a C8 SCT at f6.3 with a QHY268M camera cooled to -5°C.
I think the TIE Fighter pilot head and Ultron helmet combo works the best for a movie accurate Crossbones.
The death's head was the symbol of choice by the Puritan population who were adamantly against the use of religious symbolism, such as crosses on the attribution of the human form to spiritual beings, such as angels. It served as a constant reminder of the mortality of man. Later in the 1750's other symbolism began to occur, such as the soul effigy, the urn and the willow. The evolution was a sign of change of cultural and religious attitudes in early America.

NGC 2467, nicknamed the "Skull and Crossbones Nebula", is a star-forming region, it includes areas where large clouds of hydrogen gas incubate new stars. Discovered in 1784 by William Herschel, the region is dominated by a massive young star of spectral type O6.

This object was imaged in narrowband and natural color RGB across multiple nights... image consist of a combination of HOO+SII with RGB Stars.
The total integration time was 27 hours and 58 minutes for all three narrowband filters, Sulfur II, Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III, Red, Green and Blue through a C8 SCT at f6.3 with a QHY268M camera cooled to -5°C.
Skull and Crossbones Nebula which looks to me more like a Fish is in the constellation Puppis and is a star-forming region with an age of just a few million years, located at 4420 LY distance.
Captured with RGB camera and Monochrome camera with Oxygen and H-alpha filters and processed in Pixinsight / Photoshop.

On the banks of the River Bollin is a great tree. Carved into it is the skull and crossbones ancient inscription of The Pirate. He passed this way today.

Taken using the ASI Seestar S50 on an almost full moon night using the inbuilt duo band filter, it was a very short image run being only 3 minutes of 10 second exposures.

Thought this was unusual with the skull and crossbones.
There were several graves with this on up at the castle.
I sharpened this to make the engraving a bit clearer.
I attached these buttons to a jumper I wore to hand out candy last Halloween. Just uploading it here for a friend who'd like to use the idea.

The tomb of the pirate Fermin Mundaca in the municipal cemetery on Isla Mujeres, Mexico, bears a skull and crossbones symbol carved by Mundaca himself.
On Redcross Way in Southwark, a quiet back-street running parallel to Borough High Street, there's a plot of land surrounded by London Underground hoardings. There's a big rusty iron gate adorned with ivy, ribbons, flowers, feathers, jewellery and other totems – and with a bronze plaque bearing the epitaph: 'R.I.P. The Outcast Dead'.
This is Cross Bones, a pauper's burial ground that was used to bury the prostitutes who worked in Southwark’s brothels or 'stews' and who were excluded from Christian burial. The plot of ground is at the point that is furthest away from all of the local parish churches . It is thought that over 14,000 “single women” were buried here in the centuries up to the seventeenth century. Of those recovered over 60% are thought to be children, many bearing signs of tertiary syphilis.
The the iron gates in Redcross Way have been transformed into a shrine, a living communal art-work. It is a sad and still desolate place despite this
