portrait of hester sparrow
hester sparrow hates her teeth
the gap between the top two
cruddy molar, cracked crown
loathes her long breasts
lead anchors smooshed in cups
with straps that cut grooves
in her shoulder bones.
hester doesn’t like the sea
much anymore
the way it zings her hair
and pecks her skin.
from a deck chair
she cracks pistachios
holds the nuts out
to a titmouse
eats what he misses
piles the shells between her legs
red dye inking her thigh.
hester likes the birds
the gulls and terns that scream
against the low sun
small birds that chatter
just before sunup
crows and even pigeons
envies them their wings
collects loose feathers
in a jar on the kitchen sill.
after dinner each night
as she scrapes the scraps
of meat and bits of corn
from her plate and
captain john’s
into the sink
she looks at the jar
out the window beyond it
dreams of steady ground
where nothing swells
and the only splashes
come from a bird bath.
maybe the desert.
maybe Indiana.

This tee has a broken and cracked print to create a worn and distressed vintage looking appearance to the garment. As all with I am Colin t-shirts, it features a tonal 2.5cm embroidery of the pants & crossbones logo on the left sleeve. Each tee is lovingly made from 100% cotton to the custom IAC cut and fit and double enzyme washed for a luxuriously soft handle to the garment.

The skull and crossbones symbolise mortality. This is at the churchyard in Eyam, Derbyshire, famous for its villagers' stoic reaction to the plague in 1665.
Vintage portrait image of a man with a Skull and Crossbones knit sweater. Now that is what I call couture. This found photograph is from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!

Cool medieval town of Taormina Sicily, interesting to see a skull and crossbones over a church entrance!

On Redcross Way in Southwark, a quiet back-street running parallel to Borough High Street, there's a plot of land surrounded by London Underground hoardings. There's a big rusty iron gate adorned with ivy, ribbons, flowers, feathers, jewellery and other totems – and with a bronze plaque bearing the epitaph: 'R.I.P. The Outcast Dead'.
This is Cross Bones, a pauper's burial ground that was used to bury the prostitutes who worked in Southwark’s brothels or 'stews' and who were excluded from Christian burial. The plot of ground is at the point that is furthest away from all of the local parish churches . It is thought that over 14,000 “single women” were buried here in the centuries up to the seventeenth century. Of those recovered over 60% are thought to be children, many bearing signs of syphilis.
The the iron gates in Redcross Way have been transformed into a shrine, a living communal art-work. It is a sad and still desolate place despite this
