Al-Burāq (Arabic: البُراق al-Burāq "lightning") is a miraculous steed, described as a creature from the heavens which transported the prophets. The most commonly told story is how in the 7th century, the Buraq carried the prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and back during the Isra and Mi'raj or "Night Journey", which is the title of one of the chapters of the Qur'an.
Anyone familiar with John Murphy's Stupid Sock Creatures would recognize these; after picking up his book, I lauunched on a project to make some on my own! These were all given as gifts to friends;)

On my visit to Ron's creature shop in Toronto. There are puppets from the TV series Goosebumps, a penguin from a Visa commercial, an alien from a Canon commercial, and I see Wally and Murk from the short-lived show Internet Sluts are back there too.

My step-dad went outside last night and was greeted by a big skunk in his screened-in porch. Despite the fact that he quickly ran back in the house, the skunk sprayed ALLL over.
That prompted me to make this card for him. I had the skunk stamp from Woodland Creatures by Hero Arts. I added the sentiment on my printer, it says "Just stopping by to SPRAY hi".
Don't you just love it when you happen to have the *perfect* stamp for the job? :)
It's a simple little card, nothing special, but he'll get a kick out of it.

An Oyster Catcher has taken up residence in one of the barrels, and has a nest with three eggs surrounded by tulips. (Haematopus ostralegus)
Quite often an ant would come out of the Terro trap and there would be this exchange before the new ant went in. I am actually quite happy with this picture.

who are these giant eyelashes? anemones?
at first glance they looked like creatures out of a takashi murakami work, but the closer I got, the more they resembled giant clitorises surrounded by shu uemura fake eyelashes. oddly alluring.
God Lleu has two beloved creatures. Older is Dragon, wise and serious man. Not long ago Lleu created his second "child". Elesana is young and quite stubborn goddess. But she adores Dragon so much ^^\'

Student work. Students were shown examples of the Surrealistic painting technique of decalcomania used by Max Ernst, then given indistinct forms of dried Great Stuff spray foam insulation to interpret and transform into a fantastical creature of their own invention. Lesson plan originally developed by one of my former student teachers, Clint Jackson.

I'm trying to learn more about macros. I think this version came out more faded- but I like the green peeking through on the sides. So I thought at least I would try posting it.

A plastic figurine from the Galaxy Laser Team figure line. I had a bunch of these as kids and when I found out they were being reissued, I had to snag a few.
This alien in particular was unusual in the set because it didn't draw an immediate comparison to a Star Wars character. The line featured likenesses of R2-D2, Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Han Solo, all of whom were so similar to their Star Wars counterpart that it's shocking they were never sued for copyright infringement.
This little weirdo, however, was just a plain old crab-turtle space alien.
