I've been watching CreativeLive's webinar on "Food Photography" with world-renowned commercial photographer, stylist, and NY Times columnist Andrew Scrivani. Andrew inspired this "lunch" shot which I uploaded for a chance for his critique.
I'm a stay at home mom who is learning more about photography so I can eventually work from home. This is my sister who needed some senior portraits done for her graduation this upcoming year. Watching Sue Bryce and Simona helped me so much in trying to pose her as she is curvy and I wouldn't have known how to help her eyeliner thickness without the workshop. I chose this photo because it showed off the makeup better and this was one of the tossing the hair shots that I loved. I feel so blessed to be able to learn from the best from my home while I watch my three little ones. Thank you CreativeLive!
Here’s my version of a Glamour Shoot à la Sue Bryce. My friend Jessica Mulvey (who is also a hair stylist and did the hair for the shoot) was gracious enough to model for me. Makeup was done by my friend Helene Thompson using Simona’s techniques. The girls and I had so much fun and they really felt like a million bucks and thanked me for the experience and for making them feel beautiful and hot (I don’t think they needed much help).

I was bored one night, so I decided to practice shooting by taking some self-portraits. It also gave me the opportunity to practice what I had learned during a Hair & Make-Up Class with Simona Janek on CreativeLive.com.
I wanted to thank Sue Bryce for challenging us to pose others and start taking pictures. I use a self timer for self because I work all day and almost into the evening but was so inspired by Simona Janek and Sue Bryce after the CreativeLive workshops I HAD to shoot, even if it meant myself! I don't even own a remote control so this took some finessing! I just bought my Canon 7D July 30 and am just learning and would love to get a fancy pro camera!
This is fashion after the 100 poses in 1 hour where the model's back is against the light. The back is our house's kitchen window. Sue's advice with short hair is to add flowers and/or big earrings. I also remember ballet hands and to not talk on the phone.
No house hold chore can stop me from watching CL. Being a mom a wife and a student can all be juggled if done right ! Trust me. I was watching while giving my son a bath too ! Who wants dinner ?

Bare 580EXII CL fired TTL with Odins & late afternoon sun reflecting off windows for fill.
its been a while since i've posted. partly busy due to the wedding and editing that i shot last weekend and as well as the admin stuff.
also realized that i've kind of fallen into a photographic coma of sorts. haven't this desire and urge to shoot for a while. perhaps this should all change in a short while.
learnt this while watching Zack Arias at the Creative Live workshop on studio photography which he conducted over the weekend.
so while i didn't have any white seamless, i had the next best thing, a white wall.
next problem was the rear lights, which i couldn't get them to kinda light the background evenly but at least it was even enough so i could just clone out the uneven bit.
lastly, i shot this in a portrait orientation and then cropped it out to a landscape orientation much later in photoshop. Zack's technique enabled me to "create" space out of nothing. quite cool if you ask me ;)

I spent the day in Seattle at the CreativeLive studios taking a class on mobile photography from photojournalist Ed Kashi. It was amazing. This mural is right outside the studios and brightened up a dreary Seattle day.

A couple of photos from a shoot with Rachel after watching CreativeLive on experimental portraiture.
The original image, on the left, the same photo at the end of the homework assignment on Friday - and the finished (I think) image from a few more tweaks done on Saturday. All of this from CreativeLive's photoshop workshop with Doug Landreth.
This photo was taken by my husband, Perry Christensen of one of the fountains on Fresno's Fulton Mall (back when they took care of them...).

This is my kitty. yes, my kitty's eye. i think i am out from under the booklet deadline now.
this was shot with the EP1 with a MIRANDA focabel (bellows) and a Miranda 50mm ƒ/1.8 lens.
oh and that catchlight? thats an IPod. is that still "available light"?
