I´m test shooting my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law before the big day. They asked me a year ago if I wanted to shoot their wedding and the whole spring I´ve watched lots and lots and LOTS of courses about wedding photography, mainly on creativelive. Love that place!

Just using some techniques I learned from the Creative Live workshop featuring David Nightingale on a photo I took last fall on a walk in the neighborhood. It's not perfect... but I like it.

I'm taking a free online course in digital photography through creativeLIVE, creativelive.com/courses/digitalphotography/ . The first session was today and was really an introductory overview. If you want to join you can easily jump into the second session. Our first assignment is to post a bad photo we've taken.
I took this shot last week as I dashed through the airport in Atlanta. I was using my Canon G9 point and shoot (it was easier to pack on our motorcycle trip). Because I needed to keep up with my group, I just pulled my camera out of my bag and shot on auto. The lighting is very bad but the shot still speaks to me. Since I always shoot RAW I'm pretty sure I can salvage this one in Lightroom so that it better represents the vision in my mind.
Here’s my version of a Glamour Shoot à la Sue Bryce. My friends Jessica Mulvey (who is also a hair stylist and did the hair for the shoot) and Jeannette were gracious enough to model for me. Makeup was done by my friend Helene Thompson using Simona’s techniques. The girls and I had so much fun and they really felt like a million bucks and thanked me for the experience and for making them feel beautiful and hot (I don’t think they needed much help).
Spent the day attending online class with Jasmine Star which was AMAZING to say the very least. I have been attending the other classes leading up to this for most of the week, today however was the actual wedding and much more in depth and long (about 9 hours to be exact).
It was both incredible and exhausing to go through shooting a wedding from start to finish with her and having her advice the whole way through.
She even answered a few of my questions which was really awesome.I am going to have to develop some serious J* type stamina to make it in this business that is for darn sure!
Well, both my head and my notebook are full so unfortunately this is the photo you're stuck with today. I feel it is quite reflective of my day, so I actually quite like it.

After a healthy dose of Sue Bryce (WPPI-U in Vegas and the creativeLIVE rewatch) I was absolutely inspired to make MYSELF feel as glamorous as my clients get to feel! Hair, make up and Styling were done by me, and well--that's the non-soccer mom version of me. Hubby had the shutter release remote and I was standing in my bathtub! And I still felt glamorous! (So the eyes aren't tack sharp, and sure, the back of my hand isn't the prettiest thing ever -- BUT it's the feeling that I get when I see myself all dolled up that counts, I finally understand the emotional buy!) This was my gift to myself on my thirtieth birthday--the reminder that dang I've still got it and embrace my curvy glam girl! ;)
I watched 'Lighten Up And Shoot' today via creativeLIVE and the homework assignment for the day was to approach a stranger and ask them for a portrait. This guy was so nice, he had just bought two brownies from my daughter and her friends who were having a 'bake sale' on the street.

I'm watching the Lighten Up & Shoot seminar on Creative Live this week-end. The assignment for the evening was to take a photo of a stranger.
This is Dustin. Today is his birthday and he was celebrating at the Brew & Bite at the Riverfront in Salem.
I love these moments where you can just look at my daughter and tell what kind of personality is radiating from inside her. I shot this by not using the rule of thirds, not having the eyes open but still using the closest one as the focal point and aslo having nothing else in focus.
