I was bored one night, so I decided to practice shooting by taking some self-portraits. It also gave me the opportunity to practice what I had learned during a Hair & Make-Up Class with Simona Janek on CreativeLive.com.

After watching Andy and Mikey ( www.lightenupandshoot.net ) on www.creativelive.com it has got me into gear to approach people and ask them if they would like their photos taken and do a "100 Strangers Project" so here is Number 1. All my shots for this project will be SOOC with only cropping done in Lightroom 3 so that I can gauge my photography skills slowly progressing and not my editing. Please feel free to critque as it will give me better insight into where things could be improved .

The bride always gets photographed with her bouquet. So I thought it might be an interesting change to photograph the bouquet but this time held by the groom, with all his grooms men behind him. He thought it was weird that I asked him to do this, I think it turned out alright. =)
I’m watching a CreativeLive Webcast today with an Artist/Photographer Doug Landreth and it got me to look closer at the things around me. I’ve had this old set of binoculars on my shelf for as long as I can remember and when I picked them up to photograph I re-discovered this clasp on the case. I found the detail and the bee so interesting that I got out the close-up lens and took a macro shot. It’s a simple image but it has a nostalgic quality that I find intriguing.

I've been watching CreativeLive's FREE Fundamental of Digital Photography class with John Greengo. It's a whole two hours in the middle of the work day but it's SO WORTH IT. I feel reasonably knowledgable about photography but this class is really interesting and really detailed. The newbies are rightly lost. I feel like it's made exactly for me - someone with a great deal of shooting experience but very little "schooling."
For instance, I learned today that most lenses are sharpest around f/8. I had never heard that before! So I cranked down to f/6.7 (dead center for my lens) and this is *tack sharp*, much better than f/2!! I can't believe I've been shooting f/2 this whole time thinking it was sharper than f/8. I am going to shoot myself. Or shoot a lot of other people... with my camera...
Anyway, check out the class. It's really useful.

I am seriously behind in posting my 365 and my commenting. I apologize to you all--no excuses--I should be disciplined enough to get one image posted and at least some comments done everyday. Busyness is not a good excuse. :)
