Love this shot of this stray dingo dog at Monument Valley at the main viewpoint. It's like she knew to come and stand there and pose for everyone to get some treats. I've never seen anything like it. And I did give her some treats ;-)

The Tenaya Fire runs above Yosemite Valley at dusk. The Milky Way and Half Dome add to an already intense scene as seen from Glacier Point.

A helicopter makes a water drop on the Blue Cut Fire in Cajon Pass, California. It's time to duck and run for cover, but not before taking some photos..
Back in 2012, while I still using my first DSLR, my Nikon D5000, along with the 18-55mm kit lens, I did some water drop photography and was quite happy with my shots back then.
Years later, with upgraded gear, and hopefully, upgraded skills, I wanted to try photographing water drops once again.
Sadly, I wished I chose a more colorful background to bounce the flash off of just like what I used back in 2012. Ah well. Still happy with these series of shots overall though.

Here, I wanted to eat the famous "empanada", as Wikipedia describes it: An empanada is a type of baked or fried pasty in Hispanic cultures. The name comes from the Spanish verb empanar, and literally translates as "enbreaded", that is, wrapped or coated in bread; Empanadas are made by folding dough over a stuffing, which may consist of meat, cheese, corn, or other ingredients.
And it is famous for being absolutely delicious, and you know what? It is. And I'm usually picky when it comes to food especially those sold street side. But this was great that each time I visit Vigan, I make sure to eat a couple (or more).
The kind vendors of "Evelyn's Special Empanada and Okoy" are more than kind enough making a fresh batch of empanada for me! And didn't mind me photographing them in action.

I saw one of my older photos when I was a few years into my digital photography hobby and while I was still a medical student, where I photographed my kitlens and one of my first Littmann Classic II SE stethoscope, and it was entitled "When Passions Collide" (I did say COINCIDE in the photo's description), and I felt that I need to do an updated shot, this time with my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM lens and my Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope that I purchased when I became a full fledged physician back in 2016.
Plus, this gives me yet another reason to practice more off shoe flash photography with 2 external flashes as I am more adept with using only 1 external flash.

"The first Full Moon of the year is named after howling wolves. In some cultures, it was known as Old Moon, Ice Moon, Snow Moon, and the Moon after Yule."
"When the Full Moon occurs during the Moon's closest approach to Earth, its perigee, it appears larger and brighter in the sky. This phenomenon is often called a supermoon."
Both above statements are taken from www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/
Last year, in this side of the world, we were treated with what I call a "Lunar Triple Treat"; that is a Super Moon (or a Perigee Syzygy), a Blue Moon (a second full moon in the same month), and a total lunar eclipse that gave the moon a reddish hint (or a Blood Moon. Not to be confused with the Hunter's Moon, also called the Blood Moon, which is the full moon in the month of October).
This year, this side of the world didn't get to witness the lunar eclipse, so I settled for the Super Moon plus Wolf Moon, hence, Super Wolf Moon.

Star trail photography can be such a fun way to bring some dynamism to night images! While photographing the Milky Way in the reflections of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park, I experimented with a single 10-minute exposure to capture the stars movement across the sky (despite what the EXIF data says). With the Milky Way just barely out of the composition on the left side of the frame, my camera picked up some of the greens and golds from it’s galactic core.
For more tips and tricks, I recently contributed to a “how to” article on star trail photography for Adobe published here: www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/discover/star-tra...
The Milky Way over the Feldberg in the Black Forest.
Super nice up there but without a reasonable flashlight it is not particularly fun to go down there again at night. ^^
Have you ever been up there?

I was very excited about the MacroMondays challenge on double exposures, as I had only tried in-camera double exposures when I first got my current camera, and never returned to it until today. I also have not overlaid any photos in a long time. My first idea was something related to this but slightly different, but it did not work out quite like I imagined, and I already thought I'd have to resort to CreativeCloud for overlaying single exposures as the light was fading fast and I wanted natural light - but then this second idea worked the way I wanted. I am thankful for MacroMondays crew for pushing us participants by having a theme related to a technique - this was refreshing!
One of the exposures is a petal on a white sheet, the other one of a dictionary. The difficulty - in addition to composing the two shots after each other in camera without seeing the other one -
consisted of getting the petal shot to be dark enough in comparison with the dictionary shot, as I could not change the ISO between the two exposures, and did not want to touch the other settings (and was too lazy to set up a tripod). In hindsight it would have been great to have the text more pronounced on the petal itself, but oh well, the light is gone. I believe I'll return to double exposures another time. This was fun. HMM to all.

When I moved to England about 7 years ago I didn't speak a word of English and was in year 8, which made it really hard for me to talk to people, up until year 10, which is when I started to properly speak the language, my only friends were books, during break time I would grab a book and read, a lot. I would also stay up till late reading. They really saved me.
