I had photographed the moon before with really pretty mediocre results so decided to follow the advice in this article:

It worked a treat. Some of the advice is common sense but there are lots of small things that all need to be considered. Low ISO, smallish aperture, tripod etc. The colorisation was done in Photoshop using a gradient map.

We had beautiful colors on the sky this evening.
We live high up in the mountain and have a nice view from several view points 😄
An experiment in Photoshop using forty-two photos taken in Iowa combined in the style of photographer Julieanne Kost using an elaborate process that strips out context and leaves pure abstract color.

The Belt of Venus over Monument Valley shortly after sunset. Taken from the main view of The Mittens. Sadly access to the valley is cut off after 5pm in the Winter.

Fui a São Paulo, pela primeira vez com uma DSLR, em 2011, garoava, fazia frio, estava preso no trânsito. De dentro do carro, com os vidros fechados comecei a fotografar.
A grey, wet and perhaps a gloomy evening (for some) and then while walking in the Norwegian forest I looked up at the sky and saw an opening in the grey and this round fluffy pink thing surrounded by blue sky and power lines appeared.
"Aa A Lollipop", I thought - and can I say that I took a macro shot of the sky to get the right impression?
A rather big macro..

A full moon rises over Moab, UT looking east from Canyonlands National Park to the west. This photo was used by the Sierra Club for their Daily Ray of Hope.
Instead of the Blue Hour I got the Pink Hour thanks to some feather clouds. Taken on the switchbacks east of the valley just before sunrise.
