creating and connecting. connecting and creating.

Created these for a friend that recently celebrated the birth of her twins - a boy and a girl. The original design is a Planet Cake one, I just changed the colours :)

Individual “ants” before attaching to Chain-link fence.

This was my submission ("Create...") to the 1st Annual Chain-link Fence Art Exhibition and Competition. Had a lot of fun with this, inspired by chain-link fencing of which I’ve never worked with before, tricky stuff ;) My arms got a work out.

MATERIALS: 4 ft. x 4ft. scrap piece of chain-link fencing, a found barbeque grill (web), crystals, glass beads, found metal nuts/bolts/washers, metal wire and scrap telephone wire. I wanted people to discover the message in the spider’s web, “create” that would tie into the leading ant’s message of peace, happiness, laughter, love, opportunity, dreams, something(!). It’s good fun if we choose to create positive things for ourselves and the world :)

For this romantic and intimate wedding in Mt. Shasta, I chosed a happy color palette of yellow, white, earth-tones, and splashes of purple and fushia. Vintage rustic elements included vintage lace, antique French linen and hemp cloths, pewter containers, mason jars, apothecary bottles, and lots and lots of pretty cake platters. Wedding took place at Gilden Lodge in Mt. Shasta, CA. Photography by Karrie Ann, www.livingshastaphotography.ifp3.com

Created with a 2x CTB gel on my Canon speedlight. The shadow is harsh, but I primarily wanted to play with the contrast between the color of the background and the light from the lamp.

We are creating a fairy tale around Violet and Indigo, two ducks artfully decorated by Dr. Canard, which we’ve now turned into 'poetic robots’.

With the help of Drs. Figurine and Zboon, we have started a first story outline to guide their interactions, with dialog, music, sound effects, props and backdrops. Our goal is to capture the best scenes on video and edit it all together into a compelling story at the end of this project. I can’t wait to see how far we can go with this.

For this experiment with wonderbots and interactive storytelling, I am building a small puppet theater in my studio. Before building out a permanent framework, we are testing a few ideas, to best combine physical objects with digital images and sounds.

This photograph was taken at the 'Creating My Cambridge - Singing History with Thomas Hobson' event that took place at the Museum of Cambridge on Saturday 28th February.

The event involved joining the children of the Singing History Choir for a history talk illustrated with songs, drama and games about Thomas Hobson, the famous Cambridge Tudor philanthropist and his wife played by Matthew Ward and Gill Fraser Lee of www.historyneedsyou.com/. With music by Kirsty Martin and lyrics by CBBC’s Horrible Histories songwriter Dave Cohen, the presence of Thomas Hobson himself, and a talk by Professor Helen Weinstein. This family-friendly event was part of the Historyworks project Creating Camridge. To find out more visit www.historyworks.tv.

I "created" this little sea glass mosaic mirror while on vacation this summer in Marco Island, FL. I recently hung it on my back porch. I kind of liked taking this picture because I didn't have to put on makeup or get dressed for it - ha!
