Extrem-Crashtest in Münster-Wolbeck: Die Unfallforschung der Versicherer wollte demonstrieren, wie gefährlich Überholmanöver sind.
Well, the French girl got past the Chinese bike, but now has the Spanish rider's mount to deal with here. She isn't going to fare as well with this obstacle.
Notice the Spanish rider's falling style: It may not be intentional, but she appears to be rolling and trying to protect her head and neck by curling into a fetal position. Kids, pay attention--this helps prevent additional neck injuries because it stabilizes the neck. It will also protect your face, and reduce your size, so it's easier for others to avoid you.
The Cuban coach is starting his run to be by his rider's side. Beyond him, above his head, you can see American coach Andy Sparks climbing up the rail to avoid getting sucked into the melee.
Just above the Spanish rider's left hand is a blue thing. That's one of the sponges that is used in time trials. During mass start races, they set them along the fencing. It's been struck or kicked out of place here.
Just beyond that you can see two black circles. Those are Shelly's wheels. To give you an idea how quickly she went from being rubber down (last shot) to rotating a full 90 degrees, this shot and the last have the same timestamp, down to the second.
Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare boned and crazy for you
When you come crash
Into me, baby.
Took this when I was out in California. Took me about ten minutes to get the perfect picture I imagined. Tell me what you think!

In the early morning hours of September 15, 1944, a U.S. Army Air Force B-24 Bomber on a night training mission crashed into the San Francisco Peaks, killing all eight crewmen.
The photo above is what remains of one of the wings of the aircraft. It is a fairly challenging hike to the crash site, particularly in winter. We continued on from here to Humphrey's Peak, elevation 12,633' ASL.

I kept seeing the crashing car. The bodies flying, no one in seat belts, the slapping and cracking of bodies on plastic, but no screams. The accident had never happened, and I have know idea who those people are in the car with me.
I feel an intense burden to visualize this and each time I do It get more detailed information like a hyper memory.
It has been a year now:
I can see the glass from the windshield glistening. Hear, not the voices, but the silent prayers of passengers going off in my head like discordant bells. Feel, the adrenaline rush into my body like a fire, all this and more.
It was a Monday. The day of the accident. I knew I was one of the designated drivers for the Art lovers pub crawl. A bunch strangers who were not really strangers at all came to over to my car: mother of two, business man, art critic, chef. I recognized them all before they got in. Just going to the Black Friar: just down the road, I mused. My head wasn't screwed on straight, I should have told them that we weren't going anywhere, but I couldn't. I was locked on to that horrible destination. I started the car and moved out onto to the road. I could see the first sign of my demise, then it started. The other car's blue so vibrant heading our way... It was then that I released the vision I let it flow. It crawled inside my passengers they became as I, unfeeling, as if looking at some madness from a distance. We were thrown, but we landed on our feet in a dead run and kept running.

R-L: Me crashing, getting an ouchie, Canton, Ohio.
It was supposed to be a simple 180 to tailtap, then drop into the bank. Note the silly hair in the middle shot. 1990ish. Sequence shot by Adam Liber.
Went to see "Heaven and Earth Magic" at the Castro Theater last night, came across this unfortunate accident on the way.

I had my shutter speed set quite slow for the motion-streaking shots, so this crash shot is pretty much a blur. I thought it still looked interesting though -- kind of abstract.
My computer crashed & burned today...I think it was some type of virus that merrily dismantled all of my system files...hope to salvage some of my wedding photos from out west but I'm not feeling too hopeful. Anyone else ever have a similar experience?
