This rusty structure was once one of two or more conveyors for a gravel pit. The pit is no longer in operation and is now park land. The trail winds down the hill using the old gravel pit road.

Fixed plant is largely a thing of the past in the modern quarrying industry. The Hillhead quarry exhibition reflects this in the vast numbers of mobile equipment on display. Telestack claims to manufacture the world's largest range of conveyors and these are just a small sample of its products.

In the heavily polluted atmosphere of the XuanMeichang coal yard at Sandaoling on 17 January 2016, a worker attempts to free a part blockage on the conveyor as 'JS' 2-8-2 No.8225 waits for the right away to proceed onto one the coal discharge points behind.

The West Black Thunder loadout was built a little over ten years ago, and the sheer scale of the loadout is very impressive. A conveyor belt system bring coal from the actual mine, several miles to the east. The conveyor belt rises up and over the triple track main and into the massive concrete tipple. In this shot, a train loads underneath said tipple, while two SD70ACes bring up the tail end of a westbound empty on Main 2.

This overhead conveyor unloads sand and ballast from ships that deliver to it in the Thames at Gravesend. Behind me as I took this is the factory that produces all sorts of ready mix concrete and mortar mixtures. On the opposite bank in Essex you can see a power station, fueled from ships that come up the Thames. This picture taken on the Saxon Shore way - a long distance walking route that follows the coast starting at Gravesend and meandering for 160 miles to Hastings

BrickCon is virtual this year, and there was some fine print on the MOC submission I didn't see, so here's some rushed photographs!
Expect some better photos and videos soon.
Been a long time since I've played with motors.
The conveyor is motorized! Operational when retracted, extended, and everywhere in between! Booms are both fully positionable, featuring 360° rotation and telescoping ability, even while running. Cab also features opening doors. Built to 7 wide scale.

40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' departing Irwell Vale and passing Ewood Bridge working 2G53 09:20 Bury to Rawtenstall. 24/09/16
In the heart of downtown Oklahoma City stood an old oil mill,
its final days already written.
For two months I pressed for permission to enter,
hoping for one last chance to capture what remained
before demolition claimed it.
When the gates finally opened,
I walked its passageways for two days,
capturing every whisper of steel and shadow that caught my eyes.
This was my single moment —
and I held it with both hands.
Among the relics, the long, spiraling conveyor screws
pulled me in with their quiet geometry,
their rhythm of repetition and form.
To frame something once ordinary
and coax art from its forgotten edges
was a reward all its own —
a farewell gift from a place about to disappear forever.
The outriggers are a fairy simple design. Some 1x1 clips are attached at the top to lock them in place, and they are able to handle quite a bit of weight.
Cumberland Mine #22, behind me, is slowly shoving the next train load of coal under the load out. We're looking west from the load out building down the conveyor to the storage silo and the rear of the train. CYMX #1 is just visible through the trees.
Are these for recycling? I've seen them used in some hoytie-toytie 'hoods with oversized golf carts unloading onto the conveyor, but never had the chance to stop and get the scoop.
...at the Dubai Airport.
I had to spend the night at the airport and unfortunately, the best seats were occupied for sleeping already.
So I tried to sleep on the conveyor belt. ... Joke!
