"Constructive Oar Destructive Interference?"
Droplets of water drip off the oars in this photograph and create waves in the lake. When these waves come together, they interfere with each other. A property called constructive interference occurs when the waves add together to make a larger wave, but only if both waves are displaced upward or downward. However, destructive interference occurs if the if the waves come together in opposite orientation. In destructive interference, the waves cancel out, resulting in no waves as long as the magnitude of the two waves are equal.
The distance between the two droplets affects the amount of interference that occurs. When the oars are closer together, the constructive and destructive patterns are wider apart because less interference is occurring. When the oars are further apart, more interference occurs.

Constructive criticism please - is this too dark in the foreground.. is the background too blurred and without definition in the clouds? Any suggestions of ways to improve either in camera or with software?

I just love London for the people you can meet. They were obviously on their way somewhere, but without hesitation stopped and allowed me to take a photo. Looking at it now, there are again a few technical details which I would do differently could I take this shot again, but I just love it for their expressions!
Technical note:
This was taken with an on camera flash with diffuser, (iirc set to 1/32 power), and an ND8X filter on the lens. I always planned to use the flash off camera, and had only attached it to the cam so that I didn't have to carry it separately. But their expressions were so wonderful, I didn't want to start fiddling around...
