Only the band that has been consistently #1 on my Last.fm playlist for years.

Poor Chibi has been going through vocal issues of late. Vocal nodules from the screaming. 22% of why I signed up for voice lessons was because I wanted to know how to have an edge to my voice without worrying about vocal nodules or whatnot.... but thankfully, she was able to sing like an angel and shriek like a demon for the show... And the band had a ferociously awesome live vibe that only comes from a pile of actual musicians who have been playing together for quite a while and not pushing play on a laptop.

I mostly danced around and enjoyed the show in an audience of rabid fans, instead of spending the whole time taking pictures. Although I did take a few.

I decided I needed to do a simple, fun project that would let me work at very basic setup skills and practice feeding the press. This is the result.

It's nothing fancy and far from perfect but it was fun and I learned a lot. I ran 330 sheets and at first it was a struggle. It took several tries until I figured out how to fan the sheets on the delivery board properly so I could pick them up consistently. Then I had to work at figuring out the best way to lay them against the gauge pins so they would register properly each time.

I had read the various books on the subject of feeding but these can obviously only provide guidelines. In the end I was able to pick up and feed the sheets accurately and consistently. It felt good getting into the rhythm and I felt I had accomplished something when I was done.

I also got to use my counter for the first time and found out how useful it is.

Saying that Delaware has made consistent progress in reducing its infant mortality rate, Governor Carney told the Delaware Maternal and Child Health Summit on April 17 that the goal is that “every child in Delaware is born healthy” and has the opportunity to be successful in his or her life.

“I’m optimistic that we can address all of these challenges,” the Governor said in figuring out new and innovative ways to bring down the state’s infant mortality rate from its current 7.5 deaths per 1,000 live births to match or fall below the national average rate of 5.9. Delaware’s infant mortality rate has declined from a high of 9.3 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2005. The Delaware Healthy Mothers and Infants Consortium was created in 2005 to address Delaware’s high rate of infant deaths.

“The fact that some segments in our state already have birth outcomes that are better than the national average is a clear indication that we can get there together,” DHSS Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker said of the state’s white infant mortality rate that is at 5.1 deaths per 1,000 live births. The black infant mortality rate in Delaware is 12.5. “For the families who experience this terrible nightmare, we can do better,” Secretary Walker said. “That’s what gets me up every day, knowing we can do better.”

Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, a registered nurse, also applauded the progress made to reduce infant mortality in the state, but said the measure is a public health indicator of a state’s overall health.

Attorney General Matt Denn said the increasing number of substance-exposed infants in the state indicates that “the opioid crisis is a healthy infants crisis as well.”

Kenn Harris of New Haven Healthy Start, one of the summit’s keynote speakers, has devoted his career to child and maternal health after he and his wife lost their second son as a baby. “There is no single fix for this issue of infant mortality … It takes innovation,” he said in encouraging the more than 300 attendees at the Chase Center to listen to and engage their communities. “We have to work on our listening.”

Why is it that I consistently purchase products intended for 5 year olds? I was on my way down the aisle of my local Walgreen's retailer when these caught my eye. They're delicious shortbread cookies with bizarre copy on the back of the package:

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for . . . I'screams! One crunchy munch of these crunchy, munchy, fun, fun, treats and bet your stripes, you'll be bouncin' back for more!

Put your paws into an I'screams package and pull up a pawful of cookie surprises - crisp chocolate chip cookies in the shape of ice cream cones. They're made with the best ingredients including whole grains and a good source of calcium, but with no cholesterol, preservatives or artificial colors. So you know your family's snacking on something that isn't just good - it's tasteriffic!"

(That's word for word, mind you.)

This hook is over 12" long was marked as 8.5mm in size. In actuality, it's probably closer to 8.25mm in it's original dowel state. I've now hand sanded from the head to about 6.5" down the shaft to about 8mm in consistent size. This has to be done carefully, as consistent sanding around the circumference is needed to maintain size and good shaping for actual use.

Here you can also see the shaping I did for the lip of this hook. The lip is left longer, but I've tapered the lip a bit (the almond shaping to the lip that you can see) to allow for more movement for larger yarns. Lips can be altered to a degree without much fear of altering the end stitch size since it's the throat work space that actually dictates the end size of a stitch. The lip's job is to catch and hold yarn while in the process of creating a stitch, and then finally release that yarn - nothing more.

Answering to any number of names; Conga ant, bullet ant, 24 hour ant, lesser giant hunting ant, the one thing consistent is the pain they cause. In their natural range from Nicaragua to Paraguay, a single stink is likened to being shot with fiery waves of pain which continue unabated for up to 24hrs. It is no wonder then that a sting by a bullet ant is rated a 4+ on the Schmidt pain index, the highest of any insect. Though apparently some tribes, notably the Satere-Mawe of Brazil have put this dubious benefit to their advantage. They gather up a large number of these ants, up to 100 and then sew them into a glove, stingers facing inwards. This is then presented to a boy of the tribe. In order to graduate to manhood he must don the glove and leave it on for a set period of time without crying out. This process is repeated, sometimes 20 times until the tribe is satisfied and the boy has become a man. Fortunately there are other uses and the poneratoxin is currently being studied in modern medicine as a voltage gated sodium channel inhibitor which blocks synaptic transmission in insects though it acts as a smooth muscle agonist in mammals.

These are the largest of the Ponerine ants achieving lengths of 20-30mm long. They display little variation between castes, workers displaying variation only insofar as a normal distribution curve with no specialization. They make nests at the base of trees and forage on the surrounding trees, climbing into the canopy to search for nectar sources and small invertebrates. If they feel their nest is being threatened they release a musky odor and stridulate from a pair of organs in the thorax.

The church is a beautiful building Guitinières twelfth century built on a Latin cross plan and has maintained a consistent character despite late interventions.

It is fortified with XV and XVI centuries as evidenced by the large side walls crowned with battlements forming an upper room to the bell tower.

It seems that the sculptor Guitinière is he who has worked on the church Salignac-de-Mirambeau.

Autumn is consistently a great time to visit, with the foliage adding so much in spectacular, rich colors. And even during the latter part of the season, there is something so special about the bareness of many trees and vegetation. The nice thing as an observer of nature’s critters is that the birds are so much more visible. Even if they are at a fair distance, at least, one can appreciate their features. Also, many fall berries and other fruits and nuts, often with bright colors and interesting shapes, accentuate the landscape as seen only at this time of year. These brilliantly red winterberries adorn the landscape, and are so pleasing in the way they would accentuate the fall muted tones with some bright colors.

The late, Doris Duke, had left a wonderful legacy in converting her magnificent estate into a Natural Wildlife Preserve for the public’s education and enjoyment. The paths throughout the estate offer such splendid scenery. One is forever exploring, always seeing something subtly beautiful. There are always pleasant surprises, from the general scenery to the world of the wildlife, even tiny insects and flowers are enjoyable to observe. The bucolic nature of the preserve is so relaxing—akin to meditating while experiencing the landscape. The beauty of visiting Duke Farms is that so many incredible views are there simply by observing all of the surroundings. Spotting new and fascinating wildlife—both animals and plants—always adds to the experience.

ZUG, SWITZERLAND: Financial investors and leaders of more than 30 different faith traditions representing over 500 faith investment groups from eight religions and billions of dollars in assets, met in Zug's beautiful Lassalle Haus retreat centre together with representatives of the UN and some key impact investment funds, for a unique international meeting on Faith in Finance. They are there because they have all agreed to set out and make public their priorities for positive investment – a huge shift from the faith tradition of saying, for ethical reasons, what they won’t invest in. Asking the question: “what do you do with your investments to make a better planet?” they will give huge impetus to a new movement of faith assets to funds where they have a positive “faith-consistent” impact. www.arcworld.org/projects.asp?projectID=674

Singapore Zoo ranks consistently (after San Diego Zoo) as one of the best in the world.

Endemic to the island of Madagascar, ring-tailed lemurs are said to have a cat-like appearance, but with those eye-rings, they remind me more of racoons. Lemur fingers are slender and padded on the underside, with a leathery texture to help with climbing.

Well, there is no doubt that Bordeaux has another very good vintage for 2010 - much more classic in nature than the voluptuous 2009.

$465 per ton - covers 80-120 SF per ton -

Red Sandstone is a consistently red and smooth flagstone. The stone looks good in contrast to a lawn or as a compliment to a red brick home.

Consistent throughout the JR system are the station platform signs, showing the station name in kana, kanji, and romaji. Also show are the next stations in either direction.

Greetings everyone. I am back but won't be posting consistently for a little while. The operation went very well and they were very sympathetic to my injured shoulder as well. My whole abdomen is sore but is improving all the time. Because the surgeons probably moved my intestines around in tying everything up, I thought I'd post these 4 photos taken last week at Thornton Beach at Cape Tribulation.

All over the sand at low tide there are these deposits. In fact I would have seen thousands spread over several beaches. I do not know what makes them but the intestines idea came to me and in line with my operation I thought I'd make the connection. I think it may be a worm or something. The diameter of the castings would be similar to a pencil.

Thank you all for your good wishes and I was grateful for all you wrote. The possibility of a shoulder operation still remains but all the hernia stuff is behind me.

Concern about the state of the American health care system has reached a slow boil. Health care consistently ranks among the top three issues that the American public wants policy makers to address, and it is increasingly intertwined with growing worries about economic insecurity.

High costs, gap-ridden coverage, and sporadic quality are the health care problems that most concern Americans. Yet most of the policy discussion is focused on the issue of coverage. To ensure that the other problems are not forgotten, the Center for American Progress and the Institute on Medicine as a Profession partnered to develop the book, The Health Care Delivery System: A Blueprint for Reform, which offers recommendations and pathways to systemically promote efficiency, quality, patient-centeredness, and other characteristics of a high-performing health system. Its blueprint includes the vision for how different parts of the system should be structured and should function. It also proposes specific policies that the next administration and Congress could adopt to set change in motion over the next five years.

This event and book will ensure that when the opportunity presents itself, the next administration will be ready with grounded policies that are more than patches and can serve as pathways toward the high-performing health system that is not just possible, but essential, to better health and a prospering economy.

I always have trouble remembering how to spell "yacht" and somethings it does not look right so apologies if my spelling is not consistent.

The National Yacht Club was founded in 1871 as the Kingstown Royal Harbour Boat Club and an active club prior to 1870 operated on the site. It is likely that it was a commercial venture loosely described as a club rather than a club as known today.

The present clubhouse, designed by William Sterling, was erected in 1870 at a cost of £4,000. At that time it was known as the Kingstown Royal Harbour Boat Club.

In 1872 the name was changed to the Kingston Harbour Boat Club, as the use of the word Royal in a title requires a royal warrant and that was registered with Lloyd's in 1872.

Ownership passed to a Captain Peacocke and others who formed a proprietary club called the Kingstown Harbour Yacht Club, again registered at Lloyds. In 1887 the clubhouse was bought by a Mr Charles Barrington. and between 1887 and 1901 the club was very active and operated for a while as the Absolute Club although this change of name was never registered.

The name changed yet again to the Edward Yacht Club, following its purchase by three trustees. In 1930 at a time when the Edward Yacht Club was relatively inactive, a committee including the Earl of Granard approached the trustees with a proposition to form the National Yacht Club.

The Earl of Granard had been Commodore of the North Shannon Yacht Club. An agreement was reached, the National Yacht Club was registered at Lloyds, and the Earl of Granard became the first Commodore. It obtained a warrant from the Irish Herald of Arms and is the only Yacht Club In Ireland with a warrant to use the State Harp on its Ensign.

It continues to provide yachting facilities today.

Other yacht clubs in Dún Laoghaire are the Royal Irish Yacht Club founded in 1831, the Royal St. George Yacht Club founded in 1838 and the Dunlaoghaire Motor Yacht Club founded in 1965.
