Constantly,

consistently,

continually,

myself.

One of the many deer trails regularly travelled and far more obvious in the winter. The temperatures have happily moderated (it is now 15F/-15C) to the point where one is encouraged to go out and enjoy the fresh air...which shall be done immediately after this posting. In addition, a very light and pleasing snow has been falling consistently all this windless day, again (and finally) blanketing the trees and displaying that singular beauty when every branch and evergreen needle is highlighted in purest white. Photos of that, hopefully, to follow...

Amazing how nature consistently battles anything man puts up. This fence is intertwined with vines from the soil, as man drives the t-post into the soil it just starts to deteriorate.

Well I really do hope my contributions and comments on Flickr will be more consistent in 2026. Having now got my garden office ‘christened’ and replaced my ailing 6 year old PC plus sorted out storage of photos I hope I’m more prepared. I still have a hell of a backlog of shoots to go through.

Anyway, not sure if this will be my last posting of 2025 or not but, in case it is, I thought I’d go for this shot that I took from the boardwalk at Saw Mill Pond on the morning after the workshop had finished. A fog warning for the area had been issued the night before but I’ve certainly driven in a thicker fog over here in the UK. I couldn’t pass up the chance to try my luck at the nearby Caddo Lake State Park as during the workshop there had been hardly a trace of mist/fog. Luckily I’d spoken to one of the park attendants the day before to find out how early I could enter and how to pay the entrance fee before anyone was on duty.

This shot was taken towards the end of my visit when the mist had started to clear. The shape of these trees really suit a foggy scene imo.

I’d like to sign off my wishing all of you that follow me, comment on my photos or just view them a very Merry Christmas (sorry I dislike the phrase Happy Christmas for some reason) and hope that you and your families have whatever type of Christmas you want be it busy, spontaneous or quiet. I prefer the quiet type myself. The world is not the happiest of places overall but there is beauty out there and all of us on here try to remind one another of this be it through landscapes, wildlife, street, car. plane etc etc photography. I am sure that if not for photography over the last years my mental state would be a lot worse.

Enjoy the festive period with your family and friends and see you on the other side.

Wisconsin Central SD45 6601 led another SD45 roll south on the MoPac in Dolton with an ore train in 2002.

The faded WC shield on the nose is consistent with Canadian National's disinterest in keeping the SD45 fleet on their roster.

One advantage of our consistently cool/cold spring (note the flat grey sky!) is the longevity of the daffodils and other spring flowers. The steep hill of Clayport Bank up and out of Alnwick town centre towards Rothbury has numerous large groups of them. Our home is on the other side of the stone wall towards the top of the image approx. level with the bus-stop.

Corvus is a widely distributed genus of medium-sized to large birds in the family Corvidae. The genus includes species commonly known as crows, ravens and rooks; there is no consistent distinction .

Here you can see very clearly, as the tide slowly but consistently recaptured the country.

A flock of pigeons at sunset

Pigeons and doves constitute the family Columbidae within the order Columbiformes, which include some 300 species of near passerine birds. In general parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the term "dove" and "pigeon." This family occurs worldwide, but the greatest variety is in the Indomalaya and Australasia ecozones. The doves and pigeons are called "squabs."

Doves and pigeons build relatively flimsy nests from sticks and other debris, which may be placed in trees, on ledges, or on the ground, depending on species. They lay one or two eggs, and both parents care for the babies, which leave the nest after 7 to 28 days. Doves feed on seeds, fruit and plants. Unlike most other birds, the doves and pigeons produce "crop milk," which is secreted by a sloughing of fluid-filled cells from the lining of the crop. Both male and female produce this highly nutritious substance to feed to the babies.

Questi sostengono arcate a tutto sesto.

------------------------

A big thank you to all for your visits, your comments, and your favorites too, which are always very much appreciated.

The territorial sound manifestation with singing value is drumming.

Both sexes drum in spring, but the male drums more frequently and consistently.

The drumming of the great spotted woodpecker is typical in that it is brief (1–2 seconds) and the frequency of the beats of each salvo increases slightly. It is a very frequent manifestation in the spring at the time of pairing and demarcation of the territory.

It has been calculated that an unpaired male can drum up to 600 times a day.

Although we've heard the "Last Hurrah" theory regarding the LS&I boats consistently throughout the last two years, the word is now that additional AC44's should be arriving on the property late 1st quarter of 2022. While this may not guarantee the demise of the old greens, it is certainly a fair presumption since the units generally only run when an AC44 is out of service.

So, despite a rather slim chance of greens, I made a trip to Negaunee two days prior to closing of the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie. With only 5 crews running on Friday, I was amazed to hear they would indeed run on the 7 Tilden! Whatever the cause, I was incredibly lucky to nab a few shot of the boats on their last run of the season, and possibly ever. The 3000 and 3009 are here seen approaching the 35 crossing on their second return to Eagle Mills.

I find the Long-tailed drake to be one of the more elegant ducks out there. I think it has to do with the tail, which curves in many shapes and oftentimes is consistent with the contours of the ducks body. I think this portrait image exemplifies that statement. Nowhere have I seen a more consistent adaptation of colors to the environment than in Morocco. In the desert the buildings are red-brown-ochre, but at the sea they are blue-white, like here in Assilah, south of Tangier. The silver-white bicycle contrasts with the blue background, while the blue window is on a white background.

Everything in life takes courage. Each new adventure we take, takes courage and a leap of faith.

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can’t practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.” – Maya Angelou

“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” – Maya Angelou

Vancouver is consistently named as one of the top five worldwide cities for livability and quality of life, and the Economist Intelligence Unit acknowledged it as the first city ranked among the top ten of the world's most well-living cities for ten consecutive years. In 2011, the city planned to become the greenest city in the world by 2020. Vancouverism is the city's urban planning design philosophy.

Some of the Lyrics to Sunrise:

Sunrise

Sunrise

Looks like morning in your eyes

But the clock's said 9:15 for hours

Sunrise

Sunrise

Couldn't tempt us if it tried

Cuz the afternoon's already come and gone

And I said

Oooo, oooo, oooo

Oooo, oooo, oooo

Oooo, oooo, oooo

To you

Surprise

Surprise

Couldn't find it in your eyes

But I'm sure it's written all over my face

Probably one of the most consistent daylight jobs in Maine, POAY gets underway at CPF203 with MEC 7585 leading. Surely anything can happen, but I'm fairly sure the writing is on the wall in about 3 months when CSX will likely takeover this property. In the meantime, catch 'em while you can!

Also to note-- a few cuts of UP reefers hauling State of Maine Aroostook County potatoes to Washington State. 2022 off to a great start... who would have thought we'd see that traffic ply these rails once more.

As we walked around Johnson Lake, conditions were consistently calm with wonderful reflections begging to be photographed. And I just could not resist.

my kind of gentleman, cut from a different cloth. he’s solid ground, never rattled, never chasing attention or approval. what you see is exactly who he is. built like a promise in the way he shows up, not in words. consistent, protective without control, firm without the bullshit. made, not marketed. no borrowed confidence, no image to sell. just intelligence, work ethic, and standards he actually lives by. this is the standard of a man, the man i stand beside. and yes, he’s my kind of dangerous.

This guy has become quite the consistent visitor to my feeder. Last year I had a male visit and did get a shot that I posted, but the opportunity was a rare one. I have no idea if this is the same bird (Could their memories be that good and do they return to the same spot year after year?) Whatever the case although it can be extremely loud when announcing its arrive, almost piercing in fact, it is a very welcomed sight for me.

I have been meaning to do more night photography, although it is quite difficult to shake off the blues and consistently attempt it. There are a lot of factors that need to work in one's favour such as clear skies, appropriate moon phase, an attractive point of interest and of course time. For me, all of this doesn't really come about as often as I would like. Hence, it is quite an accomplishment when this happens...

Broadway Tower is a folly on Broadway Hill, near the large village of Broadway, in the English county of Worcestershire, is the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. Near the tower is a memorial to the crew of an A.W.38 Whitley bomber that crashed there during a training mission in June 1943.

In the late 1950s, Broadway Tower monitored nuclear fallout in England; an underground Royal Observer Corps bunker was built 50 yards from the Tower. Manned continuously from 1961 and designated as a master post, the bunker was one of the last such Cold War bunkers constructed and, although officially stood down in 1991, the bunker is now one of the few remaining fully equipped facilities in England. - Source Wikipedia.

Not a great night for star trails, for multiple reasons - too much of light pollution emanating from the surrounding villages, constant clouds moving in from the horizon and lastly, any other composition would have simply made it difficult to cut out the ambient light. So I thought of making the Broadway Tower like a cannon aiming for the Polaris...

Although the aim was to make about 300 images, this was a result of only about 70 as the cloud cover became persistent for longer periods between clear skies even though BeeBs weather forecast stated as clear skies! Hence the outcome is far from good unfortunately...

The sun set incidentally just behind the dome of Kasai Seaside Aquarium.

The entire park area is a reclaimed land, and the pond and the marshland are a man-made biotope attached to the aquarium. Ponds and streams in the biotope are managed by the aquarium to keep fish species.

A signage in the park writes the name of the aquarium is Tokyo Sea Life Park, which is not consistent with the name in Japanese There might be a dissonance in management between Tokyo Prefecture and Edogawa City.

North Pier is the most northerly of the three coastal piers in Blackpool, England. Built in the 1860s, it is also the oldest and longest of the three. Although originally intended only as a promenade, competition forced the pier to widen its attractions to include theatres and bars. Unlike Blackpool's other piers, which attracted the working classes with open air dancing and amusements, North Pier catered for the "better-class" market, with orchestra concerts and respectable comedians. Until 2011, it was the only Blackpool pier that consistently charged admission. Wikipedia

Apparently due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a rainbow is always visible on sunny days. I really want to go back as we really didn't have much time for photography on our trip and it really is a fascinating place! And its always been my dream to photograph an erupting volcano!

Had a big problem uploading images to the website but after an hour on the phone to someone today its sorted and i will definitely have the website open in the next few days.

This was taken on Lake Ontario. Last year the winter was consistently cold such that there was 40-50 feet of ice build up along the lake shore. This year with the winter being so up and down there has been little ice on the lake's edge. This ice is from a nearby river that empties into the lake. During a warmer spell the ice flowed from the river into the lake and was pushed on shore.

There is only one place I know where I can consistently find these large turtles. I did not find out what they were called until just today.I had thought they were a larger variety of a Painted Turtle. But there coloration is different and they have grooved in maps on their shell rather than the smoother more green Painted Turtle.

Excerpt from Wikipedia: Long Beach is the largest and longest beach in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Wickanninish Bay between Tofino (NW) and Ucluelet (SE) and is adjoined by campgrounds and picnic areas. The Tofino-Ucluelet highway parallels the entirety of the beach. The beaches' consistent surf, exposed to the open Pacific Ocean, established it as one of the earliest and most popular surfing locations in British Columbia.

Long Beach features rocky 'islands' in the mid-tidal zone of the beach that are accessible only at low tide; when the tide is high, these islands are either surrounded by water or thrashed by ocean swells. In addition, dangerous rip-currents exist around the larger islands, and to some extent in the open sea farther out.

The nightmare on two wheels:

Motorcycles are more sensitive to road surface conditions than other vehicles and consistent grip of the tyres on the road surface is critical to the stability of a two wheeled vehicle and the rider’s control of the machine.

Different surface materials, such as granite setts and block paving, are often used as part of urban realm and traffic calming schemes. However, such materials can have poor skid resistance, especially when wet and at higher speeds, and can result in motorcyclists losing control. If roads are not adequately maintained, worn surfaces, sunken gullies, potholes and surfaces with different skid resistance can provide an unpredictable surface for all motorcyclists and a potential collision / loss of control hazard.

Les Niches Parties brightens up Augustijnenrei and consists of a series of shiny masks, adorned with coloured ribbons. The installation reflects the festive atmosphere Naveau experienced during her trip to Mexico, where coloured flags liven up the streets. In Bruges, she temporarily fills the niches by the water in a playful way with a masquerade that appeals to the imagination, a warm welcome for every passer-by.

During our four-day moosing excursion we consistently noted some pre-mating season activity that we hadn't witnessed before. Typically, in mid-August, bulls hang out in bachelor groups and cows are loners. But this year, the bulls and cows were grouped together and exhibiting some mild mating behavior.

We saw one group of three bulls and three cows hanging together, another group of two bulls and two cows and yet another group of four bulls and two cows. The bulls were doing a lot of butt sniffing and the cows were showing modest interest.

All of this was unusual for mid-August. My friend Amy even noticed it a week before when she was in the same area and also noted that it was quite unusual.
