The nights have been consistently below zero for the last week or so, and at church this morning I found this single pane glass window with the most unbelievable feather frost I've ever seen.
This is just one of the many jaw-dropping pictures I took of the frost patterns. I'm dumbstruck at the intricate beauty of these natural formations. I can't imagine how they are formed, and I can even scarce believe my eyes themselves as I look at these pictures!
I've uploaded these in full resolution so that you can see them in full detail. Be sure to view "All Sizes" to see the highest resolution version, and spend some time scanning around the frame. The structure is beyond awesome. It leaves me speechless.

Using chalk pastels to color a wig is certainly different. I haven't been able to get a consistent color with it (the second wig is still super saturated and has many yellow spots from where the green didn't take well).
Anyway, there's two parts to the coloring process the way I did it: colored water soaks and physical painting.
First, take a cup of hot water (in a larger container) and shave the chalk pastel into it. Depending on what shade you want (or mostly want), you'll need to be sure to put a generous amount in until the water turns roughly the shade you desire. Be sure to mix it thoroughly until it has the consistency of Easter egg dye (no grainy portions).
Second, you'll need to take a piece of the remaining chalk pastel and set it aside. Wash the wig in warm water. When it is completely saturated, rub the pastel over the top layer of the wig until it is the same color as the pastel (it will get lighter during the rest of the process).
For a more consistent color, work the pastel (which will become paste-like) through the different layers of the wig with your fingers. This step is extremely messy (I'm still trying to get green out from under my nails from this afternoon's attempt).
Third, dip the wig into the colored water and let it soak for five to fifteen minutes.
Repeat steps two and three as many times as needed. Just remember kanekalon holds moisture extremely well. So the longer it soaks, the longer it will take to dry.
Fourth, once you are done soaking the wig, take it out of the container. For a little extra kick, dump the colored water over the wig. Let the color set for ten minutes (at least).
If it's still not the color you want, go back and repeat the process until it's the shade/color you desire.
Finally, after the color has set in, rinse the wig in cold water to get rid of any excess color. Brushing the wig will help this process, but be sure to wash the brush after you are finished (or it will end up painted).
It will take a few hours for it to completely dry, but when it's dry it will be safe to put on the doll's head. Be sure it's completely dry before putting it on the doll because if any part of it is still wet, it will pass the color on to the doll (which isn't harmful, just inconvenient).

Trying again to challenge myself with a theme, so pulled out my Canon7 with f0.95 lens and decided to look at clouds and DOF. The challenge was that the day was sunny so had to find ways to use wide open aperture. Maybe I partially succeeded since it took me some time to get through the roll. The Canon combination is a really nice one - the glass is heavy but very versatile and certainly makes you think twice about what you might be able to accomplish. Thanks to all those who keep inspiring with their creations; it helps the rest of us out substantially!
Many Calgary jazz musicians have consistently sharpened their talents with the best in the jazz business, and 'world class' has become a regular description in Calgary’s jazz scene. Verissimo, for example, is a jazz quintet composed of Pat Belliveau, Jeremy Brown, John Hyde, John deWaal and Derek Stoll. These musicians represent many of the strongest and most imaginative jazz artists. Individually, and in combination, they’ve toured internationally, been 'side-man' with many jazz giants, and played such prestigious gigs as the Montreux International Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the famed Montreal Jazz Festival.
They perform with high intensity, and visit with patrons during their breaks.
This 'break' (represented) is just ending. Set two is about to begin.

There is no consistent distinction between cormorants and shags. The names "cormorant" and "shag" were originally the common names of the two species of the family found in Great Britain, Phalacrocorax carbo (now referred to by ornithologists as the Great Cormorant) and P. aristotelis (the European Shag). "Shag" refers to the bird's crest, which the British forms of the Great Cormorant lack. As other species were discovered by English-speaking sailors and explorers elsewhere in the world, some were called cormorants and some shags, depending on whether they had crests or not. Sometimes the same species is called a cormorant in one part of the world and a shag in another, e.g., the Great Cormorant is called the Black Shag in New Zealand (the birds found in Australasia have a crest that is absent in European members of the species). Van Tets (1976) proposed to divide the family into two genera and attach the name "Cormorant" to one and "Shag" to the other, but this flies in the face of common usage and has not been widely adopted.

Alice showed consistently well at Cortland this year, two 3rd-place finishes. This is good, considering she only showed once before, at this very show one year ago, when she won her class as an intermediate light gray doe, when I bought her. She has had 19 kits since, including the ineffable Kit One in the other picture.
Alice looks good and will probably go to Convention in mid-October.

the "present a consistent brand" challenge.
Challenge
When British Aerospace rebranded as BAE Systems, the company needed an agency that could handle a wide range of projects, with the ability to communicate complex information and operate as a ‘Brand Guardian’. With so many people within BAE Systems commissioning work, it was vital that ICG could help support and protect the integrity of the corporate brand.
Discuss
Since day one of our relationship with BAE Systems, ICG recognised that even the best guidelines are open to interpretation - so we talked to as many people as possible to ensure that our designs would shine as examples of good practise.
Solution
ICG established a dedicated account team to develop short lines of communication with our client, and we trained all our staff on the brand guidelines - so no matter what the deadline, there’s always someone who can help. We have also been given official access to their intranet style guide, so that we can double-check a design layout at any time.
Result
The projects that BAE Systems continue to commission are the result of a 15-year old relationship based on trust and quality of service. We have been consistently singled out for introducing creativity without compromising brand guidelines.
Omnidrive - Is This The Sad End?
Interesting tid-bit.
Omni was listed in the top 100 web2.0 software companies in Australia ~ rossdawsonblog.com/weblog/archives/2008/06/official_launc... . and listed in a local biz mag ~ www.brw.com.au/searchresult.aspx?search=Top+100+Web+2.0+A... . So I contacted a Journalist, Renai LeMay ~ twitter.com/bootload/statuses/850502396 at ZDNet Aus who had direct knowledge of the list (I forget how, I think he helped compile the list with Ross Dawson) to ask why Omnidrive was listed when it appeared to be dead? I got an interesting reply ~ twitter.com/renailemay/statuses/850550575 Now this was back in July this year.
So the question is why is an Australian, top 50 BRW web2.0 company got a dead site, no feedback and poor reputation? ~ www.google.com/search?q=Omnidrive+Nik+Cubrilovic
Ironic for the homepage that reads: "Short of cash? It seems we are always out of money at the worst possible times. Just when you have spent your last dollar for the week ..."
Some time later I saw the above listing...
Despite what is written about Omnidrive and it's inclusion into the Top 100 Australian web companies I still see it consistently listed in the deadpool across various sources.

Known for its consistent river mouth surf break, Sayulita was "discovered" by roving surfers in the late 1960s with the construction of Mexican Highway 200. Today, Sayulita is a prosperous growing village of approximately 5,000 residents. Hailed as a popular off-the-beaten-path travel destination, Sayulita offers a variety of activities such as horseback riding, hiking, jungle canopy tours, snorkeling and fishing.
Fifteenth century angels (largely retouched by Victorian restorers) painted on the main beams of the nave roof, a rare and little known survival. The original work appears to have been consistent in date and style with the Doom painting and was likely the work of the same artists.
Holy Trinity would have been the star attraction in any other town or city, it is a majestic cruciform 15th century Perpendicular church with a tapering central tower and spire, the second of Coventry's famous 'Three Spires'. However it has always been overshadowed by larger neighbours, having been encircled by no less than three separate cathedrals through it's history, a unique distinction! Holy Trinity was founded by the monks of the adjoining priory to act as a parish church for it's lay tenants, thus it is ironic that it has long outlived the parent building.
The earliest part is the north porch, which dates from the 13th century, but the majority of the building dates from a more ambitious phase in 15th century Perpendicular style. The 15th century rebuilding has given us the present cruciform arrangement with small transepts and extra chapels on the north side giving an overall roughly rectangular footprint. These chapels were some of many in the church that served the city's separate guilds in medieval times.
The church has gone through much restoration, most notably the rebuilding of it's spire after it was blown down in a storm in 1665. The east end of the chancel was extended in 1786 (in sympathetic style) and much of the exterior was refaced in the early 19th century in then fashionable Bath stone (which clashes with the original red sandstone).
The church luckily escaped major damage during the Coventry Blitz in 1940, largely thanks to the vigilance of Canon Clitheroe and his team of firewatchers who spent a perilous night on the roof tackling incendaries. The main loss was the Victorian stained glass in the east and west windows, which were replaced with much more fetching glass in the postwar restoration.
The most recent restoration involved the uncovering of the 15th century Doom painting over the chancel arch in 2004. Hidden under blackened varnish since it's rediscovery in the early Victorian period, it has now been revealed to be one of the most complete and important medieval Last Judgement murals in the country. There is further painting contemporary with this on the exquisite nave ceiling, painted a beautiful dusty blue with large kneeling angels flanking coats of arms on every rafter.
There are only a handful of monuments and most of the furnishings date from G.G.Scott's 1850s restoration (as does the magnificent vaulted ceiling high above the crossing) but there are some notable medieval survivals in the rare stone pulpit and the brass eagle lectern, both 15th century, along with a fine set of misericords originating from the former Whitefriars monastery church. Just a few fragments of medieval glass survive in the north west chapel.
The church is happily normally open and welcoming to visitors every day.
For more detail on this church see it's entry on the Warwickshire Churches website below:-

Presenting to you the result of my consistent profuse craving for almost 6 months "Tsing Ma Bridge" at dusk. There's a whole lot of hard work behind this image of travelling to get to this spot through unmapped ways in dense forest, jumping railings having steep and deep slopes leading down to Tsing Kwai Highway, walking hand to hand with reptiles one of which a "Green Snake" which I litrally saw just next to my feet while returning. Fortunately I was lucky enough to get this wonderful peice of time into my camera "safely".
Buonissimi..mi viene voglia di entrare nella foto e prendermene uno.. perfetto in tutto la sua consistenza e nel suo sapore leggermente piccante... *.*
Took this a few nights ago and for some reason, am really drawn to this shot. I love the imperfect balance that is present in this scene.
I'm consistently fascinated by these cranes, which makes them a great subject for a construction themed week. The size of them towering over everything else is astounding. Plus the weight they can lift boggles the mind (I heard that the beams used to create the new auditorium are 1500 lbs per linear foot!).
One my way out of work one day, the sun was hitting the crane just right, as the clouds must have opened up just enough for the sunlight to peak through. I felt this highlight of the machine versus nature made for an interesting image.

the "present a consistent brand" challenge.

Healthy weight loss involves making sustainable lifestyle changes that promote gradual and consistent weight loss, rather than resorting to crash diets or extreme measures. Here are some key principles for achieving healthy weight loss:
1.Set Realistic Goals: Aim for a weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss can be unhealthy and difficult to maintain.
2.Balanced Diet: Focus on consuming a balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid or limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and high-calorie snacks.
3.Portion Control: Pay attention to portion sizes and practice mindful eating. Use smaller plates and be mindful of hunger and satiety cues to avoid overeating.
4.Regular Meals: Don't skip meals, especially breakfast. Eating regular, balanced meals throughout the day helps maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevents excessive hunger.
5.Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Water can help control appetite, support metabolism, and keep you hydrated.
6.Physical Activity: Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine. Aim for a combination of cardiovascular exercises (such as brisk walking, running, or cycling) and strength training to build muscle and increase metabolism.
7.Gradual Changes: Make small, sustainable changes to your eating and exercise habits. Trying to overhaul your entire lifestyle overnight can be overwhelming and unsustainable.
8.Mindful Eating: Pay attention to your eating habits and emotions surrounding food. Eat slowly, savor each bite, and listen to your body's hunger and fullness signals.
9.Get Adequate Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Sufficient sleep promotes a healthy metabolism, reduces cravings, and supports overall well-being.
10.Seek Support: Consider seeking support from a healthcare professional, registered dietitian, or a support group. They can provide guidance, accountability, and personalized advice based on your specific needs.
Remember, healthy weight loss is a gradual process that requires patience and consistency. It's important to focus on overall well-being rather than just a number on the scale. Consult with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to your diet or exercise routine, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.

Singapore Zoo ranks consistently (after San Diego Zoo) as one of the best in the world.
There are currently about 300 species of animals across 28 hectares of lush rainforest. This is possible without a feeling of crowding because of the layering, with lemurs wandering freely, and orangutans and gibbons swinging high above the ground while the visitors watch from below.
