Recent tracking studies have revealed that oystercatchers make tremendously variable movements after the breeding season. Young birds do not follow their parents to wintering locations; in fact, young from the same nest may even migrate in completely different directions in autumn. Adults are also idiosyncratic in their movements, with some staying on the breeding territory year-round, others moving hundreds of miles away. ~ The Cornell Lab
Small, long-legged owl of open grassy habitats. Appears brown at a distance with irregular white spotting. Yellow eyes. Typically found on the ground or perched on low fence posts or rocks. Active during day and night when it hunts mainly for insects and small mammals. When agitated, it stands erect and abruptly bows down. Nests in a burrow, often dug by a prairie dog or tortoise. eBird.org
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. In 1954, the forests around Doi Inthanon were conserved, creating Doi Inthanon National Park, as one of the original 14 national parks of Thailand.
On the main road to the summit of Doi Inthanon stand two adjacent chedis, one called Naphamethinidon, meaning "by the strength of the land and air", and the other, Naphaphonphumisiri, meaning "being the strength of the air and the grace of the land". These temples were built to honour the 60th birthday anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1987, and the 60th birthday anniversary of Queen Sirikit in 1992, respectively.
Now regarding the image: It is pano shot of 4 images each taken at 15mm, F/8, 1/125 Sec, ISO 100 with exposure bias set at +0.7 step - all handheld. This picture was taken from a small cliff near by the campus, one has to climb up here in order to capture the full panoramic view of this beautiful place!
The weather was very foggy and the views were not clear. We were waiting for the fog to get clear as it was constantly moving and clearing for few minutes in-between.

A Northern Flicker is a woodpecker that oftentimes digs for insects in the ground, hence the dirt or mud on the beak of this male.
Turned to the side, this male has the red mustache of the Northern (Red-shafted) Flicker and the back red bar of the Northern Flicker that mostly lives in the East Coast. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s allaboutbirds.org, ‘The two forms hybridize extensively in a wide zone from Alaska to the panhandle of Texas.’

The Palace, a complex of several connected and adjacent buildings and courtyards, was built by several generations on a wide artificial terrace during four century period. The Palace was used by the Mayan aristocracy for bureaucratic functions, entertainment, and ritualistic ceremonies. The Palace is located in the center of the ancient city.
Within the Palace there are numerous sculptures and bas-relief carvings that have been conserved. The Palace most unique and recognizable feature is the four-story tower known as The Observation Tower. The Observation Tower like many other buildings at the site exhibit a mansard-like roof. The A-shaped Corbel arch is an architectural motif observed throughout the complex. The Corbel arches require a large amount of masonry mass and are limited to a small dimensional ratio of width to height providing the characteristic high ceilings and narrow passageways. The Palace was equipped with numerous large baths and saunas which were supplied with fresh water by an intricate water system. An aqueduct, constructed of great stone blocks with a three-meter-high vault, deviates the Otulum River to flow underneath the main plaza. The Palace is the largest building complex in Palenque measuring 97 meters by 73 meters at its base.
The church of Saint-Jean l'Évangéliste also called Saint-Jean-en-l'isle (because an arm of the Meuse once created an island at this place) is one of the seven collegiate churches of Liège.
The collegiate church was built under the episcopate of Notger at the end of the tenth century, between 980 and 987 with stones from churches demolished after the capture of the castle of Chèvremont by this bishop. It was completed and consecrated in 987 and endowed with thirty canons. This church was a replica of Charlemagne's Aachen Cathedral. Notger would have built it to thank God for having given him victory over the terrible lord of Chèvremont.
This building survived until 1754, when it was demolished to be replaced by the current neoclassical building (designed by the Italian architect Gaetano Matteo Pisoni, and implemented by the Liège architect Jacques-Barthélemy Renoz) , only the Ottonian Romanesque tower has been preserved.
The upper cutting edge (tomium) of the Loggerhead Shrike’s hooked bill features a pair of built-in pointy projections, aptly named “tomial teeth.” Like a falcon, the shrike tackles vertebrate prey with a precise attack to the nape, probably using these tomial “teeth” to paralyze the animal with a jab to the spinal cord. ~ CornellLab
Charles, the Prince of Wales and future King of England, wrote an influential book called "Harmony". In it he outlined his vision for a balanced way of life, being completely sensitive to the requirements of a sustainable environment, and also maintaining a productive life. This is a vision worth striving for. Balance and harmony are two words that we desperately need to rediscover in our fractured world.
After retiring from the Australian senate in 2012, Dr Bob Brown decided to gift "Oura Oura" to the Australian people. He did this through entrusting it to the care of Bush Heritage Australia.
Bush Heritage Australia is an independent not-for-profit that buys and manages land, and also partners with Aboriginal people, to conserve our magnificent landscapes and irreplaceable native species forever.
Nature, harmony and a balanced lifestyle. That's what we need today.
The house conserves both the memory of Gaudí and many examples of furniture and other objects that he designed. Crucial to forming an idea of how the great Catalan architect worked, these works also illustrate the craft production system in Catalonia during the Art Nouveau period.
The original purpose of the building – that of acting as a “show house” for Park Güell – gives the site added value. Although it is a public space today, Park Güell, one of Gaudí’s major undertakings, was originally planned as a private residential area.

The History of Green Tea
The history of green tea dates back over 4,000 years to China, where it is considered a precious beverage and a symbol of harmony between man and nature. After developing in China, green tea spread throughout Asia and the rest of the world.
Green tea gets its name from the preparation method used to prevent the tea leaves from undergoing excessive oxidation. Typically, the leaves are hand-picked and then quickly heated to stop the oxidation process. This is what keeps their natural green color and preserves the health benefits of green tea.

What looks like a vacant building in downtown Calgary has a sign on the window that reads: Conserving an icon of the past. Creating the workspace of tomorrow.

Snæfellsjökull National Park was established on June 28th, 2001.The Park's purpose is to protect and conserve the area's unique landscape, indigenous plants and animal life as well as the important historical relics. At the same time, the Park is meant to allow visitors easier access as well as an improved opportunities to get to know the area. National parks are amongst Iceland's finest assets and everyone is free to explore them. The Snæfellsjökull glacier lies within the national park, and the park is the only Icelandic national park that stretches to the sea. The geology of Snæfellsnes national park is diverse with formations from almost every era of Iceland’s past. The more prominent formations in and around the National Park mainly date from geologically “modern” times back to the last ice age. The hills to the north of the glacier, around Bárðarkista, are of volcanic palagonite tuff, formed during eruptions under the glacier or below the surface of the sea. Svalþúfa is most likely the eastern section of a crater that erupted under the sea, while Lóndrangar is a volcanic plug.

Jalan Besar has a curious case where things seem to have frozen in time compared to the rest of Singapore, with shophouses sometimes looking a little run-down or quiet.
Still, conserved shophouses can be seen at some parts, such as this example here.
Clarke Quay is a unique, conserved historical landmark located along the Singapore River. This photograph was taken at dusk, with remaining colours in the cloud formations. The open spaces of the Clarke Quay complex, with rows of conserved buildings, are covered by structures above the roof level. There are bridges that link the Riverside Point to Clarke Quay. Many “umbrellas” are provided along the river bank to offer shade or rain cover to diners.

This image was taken on a private ranch along the Cuiaba River where they were helping to conserve the Hyacinth Macaws by providing them with their favorite palm trees and palm nuts. Lots of the macaws came back time after time to eat them. This was the only time on my trip I saw a nunbird who was sitting on some wires.
The black-fronted nunbird (Monasa nigrifrons) is a species of bird in the Bucconidae family, the puffbirds.
It is found in Amazonian Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, also regions of eastern and southeastern Brazil. Its natural habitats are subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical and tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
The black-fronted nunbird has a black body and bright red-orange bill. It is found in small gregarious groups in lower to mid-level forests.
The black-fronted nunbird is found mostly in the Amazon Basin south of the Amazon River. It also occurs in two river regions further north: in the east between the confluence with the Xingu River westwards to the Tapajós River; and at the confluence of the Rio Negro and upstream on the Amazon.
It is also found in the Pantanal, but not the very southern portion. The IUCN has listed it as of Least Concern. - per Wikipedia
