Each day NASA solar scientists produce overlays (in white lines) that show their estimation of how the magnetic field lines above the sun are configured (June16, 2016). In the video clip we show the sun in a wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light, then reveal the magnetic field line configuration in the same wavelength. Notice how the lines are tightly bundled near the lighter-toned active regions, which are magnetically intense regions. The magnetic lines from the darker areas, called coronal holes, open out into space and the extended lines show that. Our magnetically active sun is a dynamic body that changes all the time. The Airbus A320 is a single-aisle, twin-engine jetliner that's used by airlines around the world. It's the best-selling aircraft in its class and is used for a variety of routes. The A320 has a versatile cabin that can be configured for many seating options. The A320 was the first aircraft to use a fly-by-wire system, which transmits pilot controls to the aircraft electronically. The A320 has a new cabin with mood lighting, new-design windows, and extra personal space. The A320neo has enhanced aerodynamics and new engines to reduce fuel burn and CO2 emissions. The A320 was launched in March 1984, first flew in February 1987, and was introduced in April 1988 by Air France. The A320 is used by low-cost carriers and mainline carriers and is used for low- to high-density routes, longer-range transcontinental services, short urban runways, and remote high-altitude airports.
Swiss International Air Lines AG, stylized as SWISS, is the flag carrier of Switzerland and a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, as well as a Star Alliance member. It operates scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Zurich Airport serves as its main hub and Geneva Airport as its secondary hub.
Its headquarters are at Kloten (near Zurich Airport), Switzerland, and an office at Zurich Airport in Kloten, Switzerland. The company's registered office is in Basel.
The airline was formed following the bankruptcy in 2002 of Swissair, Switzerland's then-flag carrier. The new airline was built around what had been Swissair's regional subsidiary, Crossair.
The European herring gull (Larus argentatus) is a large gull, up to 66 cm long. It breeds throughout the northern and western coasts of Europe. Some European herring gulls, especially those resident in colder areas, migrate further south in winter, but many are permanent residents, such as in Ireland, Britain, Iceland, or on the North Sea shores. They have a varied diet, including fish, crustaceans, as well as some plants, and are also scavengers, consuming carrion and food left by or stolen from humans.

"Between 1959 and the mid-1960s, Lee Bontecou made large-scale, metal-and-canvas wall reliefs. These hybrids of painting and sculpture were created by welding a metal armature and then using suture-like stitches to attach fragments of canvas with copper wire.
Bontecou scavenged most of the canvas from bags and conveyor belts discarded by the laundry below her New York studio. She also included other found objects, such as grommets, saw blades, and rope. These objects are configured into a complex assemblage that hangs on the wall like a painting but projects more than two feet into the room.
The visual allusions generated by this configuration range from destructive man-made devices to organic and geological structures: riveted airplane engines, celestial black holes, gun barrels, volcanoes, human orifices, and the segmented shells of insects.
Bontecou has said that her art responds to the historical moment in which it was created: “I wish my work to represent or to be a part of my time. . .I want them to be things and facts inside us—from war to the wonders of the space age.”

My Canon RP has been giving me grief lately and I need to configure out how to get it shoot worthy again. In the meantime I took my new Pixel 6a out on a beautiful Southern Ontario October day to see how well it works. I’m a studio shooter usually but I need to learn to “see” landscape shots. I played around with some angles and perspectives, ran them through Lightroom, and got these.
The Pixel6a produces nice results on the small screen of the phone but lots of detail is lost when you enlarge them on the desktop. They’re fine for snaps though.

So I have been a little quiet this week, it was a busy and slightly hectic week.
My computers' harddrive also "crashed" and I am trying to recover from it what I can.
Yesterday I have installed a new hard drive and loaded Windows 10 (where I used to have Windows 7).
I have loaded some of my workflow software but still need to do quite some bit of configuring before I am there yet.
I also did not take a lot of photos this week and could not participate as I would have liked to, but I hope this comming weeks will get better.
This photo was taken on a rainy day while it was overcast and actually still slightly raining. It was very late already with very little light (for my liking).

New York-New York uses the New York City influence of its name in several ways. Its architecture creates an impression of the New York City skyline; the hotel includes several towers configured to resemble New York City towers such as the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. In front of the property is a pool representing New York Harbor, with a 150 ft (46 m) tall (half-scale) replica of the Statue of Liberty, a roller coaster, and replicas of the Brooklyn Bridge, Soldiers and Sailors Monument, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Ellis Island, and Grand Central Terminal, among other well-known structures.
Within the resort, particular gambling areas, lounges, restaurants, and meeting rooms are named after New York City neighborhoods or landmarks. The main casino area, for example, is named after Central Park, while the shops are modeled after Greenwich Village.
The resort is located on the northwest corner of the Tropicana - Las Vegas Boulevard intersection. At street level, pedestrians are blocked from crossing by concrete barriers. Instead, New York-New York is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to its neighboring casinos to the south (the Excalibur, across Tropicana Avenue) and to the east (the MGM Grand, across the Strip).

MDU recently replaced the multipart insulators on the 41.6kV arm, but the circuit coming out of the sub is 2400V... for now. (MDU has also been steadily changing over its 2400V and 7200V delta systems to 4160V and 12.5kV respectively)

Even the most complex of systems comes down to properly configured wires and cables, such as those pictured here on the Propulsion Qualification Model of the Orion service module.
ESA’s contribution to NASA’s Orion spacecraft is the European Service Module, designed to provide the spacecraft’s propulsion, electrical power, water and thermal control. The model, designed by Airbus Defence and Space, was assembled by OHB Sweden.
Made from steel and containing propellant and helium tanks, among various electronics and command systems, the Propulsion Qualification Model allows engineers to determine how well systems are working together.
The model was built in January in Stockholm, Sweden and has since been shipped to the White Sands Test Facility in New Mexico (USA), where it will undergo more extensive testing by NASA, ESA and main contractor Airbus DS.

"Halvard Viking" was the fourth A350 for SAS Scandinavian, first flown on 9 June 2020 and delivered at the end of that month. As currently configured it seats up to 300 passenger in three classes.
It has been over 2 years since Virgin Atlantic took over daily operation between Atlanta and Manchester, having taken over from Delta since 29th March 2015... The transfer saw Boeing 767-300ER's replaced by Airbus A330's, marking their reappearance since September 2013 when 2 dedicated Airbus A330-300's were configured without Upper Class on flights between Manchester and Orlando-International.
Whilst Virgin Atlantic has been operating daily flights between Manchester and Atlanta for 2 years... April 2017 saw the return of Delta for 3 days a week (operated by Boeing 777-200LR's) whilst Virgin Atlantic continue to operate for 4 days a week. VS109/110 has since reverted back to daily flights.
What is becoming impressive is that Virgin Atlantic's route network is expanding from Manchester... The Orlando (and seasonal Las Vegas) flights continue to be maintained by Boeing 747-400's and Barbados which uses a mixture of Airbus A330-300's and Boeing 747-400's depending on demand, however excluding Atlanta which has been a long-time Airbus A330-300 operation, more destinations have been added.
On 28th/29th March 2017, Virgin Atlantic began flights from Manchester to San Francisco (thrice weekly) and Boston (twice weekly) respectively utilising Airbus A330-300's, both flights operating throughout the summer only. Virgin Atlantic have also replaced Delta's daily flights between Manchester and New York-JFK since 25th May 2017 which replaces Boeing 757-200's (and utilises Airbus A330-300's instead). Whilst it will operate daily during the summer, it will operate initially 4 times a week from 29th October 2017 and thrice weekly during the winter from 14th January 2018 until 22nd March 2018 when it should revert back to daily operation.
Virgin Atlantic have also made the decision during the W17 schedule to reduce weekly operation between Atlanta and Manchester, operating thrice weekly from 29th October 2017 until 22nd March 2018.
Currently, Virgin Atlantic operate 10 Airbus A330-300's. Virgin Atlantic are in the process of reconfiguring their Airbus A330-300's with a revised Upper Class seating layout of 31 seats (instead of the widely panned 33 seats) with 4 examples treated so far.
Victor Golf Bravo Romeo is one of 10 Airbus A330-300's in service with Virgin Atlantic, delivered new to the carrier initially on lease from AerCap (now CDB Aviation since November 2013) and she is powered by 2 Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60 engines.
