I love my via boxes. They are on wheels and you can configure them any way you like. I can turn the dollhouse around when I want to play with it. It is great for photos because I can move it around the room to catch the best light.

This car was originally built in 1935 as no. 263, the last of a batch of 14 "Balloon" cars.
In 1978 a project was initiated to constrct a double deck tramcar configured for one-man operation.
Car 263 was by then withdrawn and in storage, and was selected as the basis for the project.
Extensive reconstruction was carried out by engineering staff at the Rigby Road works, employing in many cases bus components supplied by East Lancashire Coachworks.
The rebuilt car re-entered service in 1979 as the most modern double-deck tramcar in the world, and continued to serve until the last day of traditional operation in Blackpool in 2011.
Since 2011 this car has been stored at Rigby Road in the ownership of a trust formed to ensure its preservation. Discussions are in progress to provide for its future operation.
Wenkenpark** was closed for a time during the intial stages of the Swiss version of the COVID-19 lockdown. When the park re-opened, it was a pleasant shock to see that all it had done during lockdown was regain its lush* beauty, as it does every spring. Of course, there is a crew of expert gardeners who foster the effort.
CLICK ON IMAGE 1x OR 2x TO MAGNIFY & SEE STROLLERS:
The two strollers on the path look so small because they are, compared to the enormous size of many of the trees. Some of them are redwoods brought from California.
Many trees in the park have spread and grown tall over hundreds of years. They were carefully chosen in foreign locations, brought here and planted with a knowledge of what they could become over time.
* "Lush" is one of those words with several hugely different definitions and uses. Wicktionary lists 8 different adjective usages , 3 noun usages and one use as a verb. Here, I mean "dense, teeming with life; luxuriant."
** Wenkenpark was formerly a private, hillside landholding and estate, dating back to 1714. From a standpoint of area, it is now mostly a public park of stunning, quiet beauty. A small part of it remains private. That part contains elegant old homes occupied by fortunate people connected somehow to various previous owners of the park property.
Please note:
I wrote the following just because I love Wenkenpark. It is only a short stroll uphill from where I live. I have no financial or familial connections to it:
If you want to personally experience and share a little of the old grandeur, you can rent either of two properties within Wenkenpark for your own special occasions: Villa Wenkenhof, and the Reiterhof. The Villa is suitable for modest gatherings in elegant surroundings. The Reiterhalle can be configured and catered for a celebration with a couple of hundred of your best friends or colleagues. I got invited to one once.
Downscale, you can just take yourself and a friend or two for an afternoon drink or a small meal at the bistro in the courtyard of the Reiterhalle. This is generally possible Thursday through Sunday, from late spring until early autumn.
If you want to know more about the gardens (only a small part is shown in my photo), and you read German, go to:

Saturday, having heard of an impending significant snowfall in the high country, four of us jumped into Derek Brown's F-unit (a Ford F-150) and headed west. We left early in the morning, and Derek masterfully kept us on the slick and unplowed roads as we climbed toward the Moffat Tunnel. Unfortunately, trains were few, but the white mantle and snow-flocked trees were magnificent.
At 9:30 a.m., we stood in foot-deep snow as a Union Pacific eastbound loaded coal train rounded the curve at the ESS at East Portal, Colorado. The locomotives on the slow-moving train were configured 2+3+1. We were able to catch this train a few more times. The Burlington Bay James N. Allan Skyway, originally called the Burlington Bay Skyway and simply known as the Burlington Skyway, is a pair of high-level freeway bridges (built in 1958 and 1985) spanning the Burlington Bay Canal. The Skyway, as it is locally known, is located in Hamilton and Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) highway linking Fort Erie with Toronto.
The 1958 steel bridge is a suspended deck through-arch truss bridge. The approach to the main span has elements of a through-truss bridge, but the arch shape takes the truss higher than the roadway deck, so hangers are used to suspend the deck from the arch truss. The 1958 bridge is 2,560 m (8,400 feet) long overall. The main span of 151 m (495 feet) is flanked by two back spans each 83.7 m (275 feet) long; there are 72 total approach spans, and the bridge has 36.7 m (120 feet) of vertical clearance below the bottom of the deck.
A second bridge, completed in 1985, is 335 m (1,099 feet) shorter. The roadway deck for each bridge is 30 m (97 feet) wide.
A federally owned low-level lift bridge, Burlington Canal Lift Bridge, linking Beach Boulevard in the Hamilton neighbourhood of Hamilton Beach and Lakeshore Road in the Burlington neighbourhood of Burlington Beach continues to operate. Built in 1962, the current bridge is the sixth bridge spanning the waters since 1830. This is mainly used by local traffic, although ramps from the QEW have been configured to allow easy access to the bridge and re-entry to the highway, should the Skyway bridge close because of high winds and adverse weather conditions, exacerbated by its towering height. The federal government attempted to transfer ownership of the bridge, but neither the province nor the Hamilton Port Authority was interested in assuming the estimated $2 million annual operating costs.

Superuse Studios is a Rotterdam based architecture office of Cesare Peeren, Willem Coenen, Bart Lentze and Mel Feldmuller. They utilize the contextual potential for design. A design is not considered as the beginning of a linear process but as a phase in a continuous cycle of creation and recreation, use and reuse.
Superuse Studios re-appropriates unwanted materials into architectural structures and is known for their innovative projects focusing on sustainable design within the fields of architecture, urban design and research. Three projects that highlight their strategies and design approach are ‘design shoe store’, ‘the miele space station’ and their ‘wikado’ urban furniture.
The Miele Space Station was one of Superuse Studios early trials in reuse architecture in 2003, its final destination is based at the faculty of architecture in Delft where it served as an espresso bar. Its futuristic appearance of a space station is composed of modules where it can be configured to different programs- even suited for living accommodation.

The castle of Berlanga de Duero is located in the town of the same name, belongs to the province of Soria and was built between the fifteenth century, when it served as a stately castle, and the sixteenth when it was transformed into an artillery fortress. Previously, in the 10th and 11th centuries, there was a Muslim fortress that, in the 12th century, after the Castilian conquest, was extended with the outer walled belt that remains.
Bordered by the River Escalote and embraced by the Duero, it is crowned by the imposing silhouette of the castle that watches over it from the Coborrón. The monumental complex is made up of the remains of the late medieval fortress (15th century), the artillery fortress from the Renaissance period (16th century), the wall that surrounds the hill at its base (12th century) and the Palace of the Dukes of Frías ( century XVI).
The complex began between 1460 and 1480 by order of D. Luis Tovar and Doña María de Guzmán, who ordered the building of the stately castle, to serve as a defensive fortress and family residence, on top of a previous castle located on top of the hill. where the primitive town of Berlanga was located, protected by the wall located at the foot of the hill.
In the year 1512 the new castle was projected and began to be executed, configured as an artillery fortress, for military purposes. This new fortress was adapted both to the steep topography of the land and to the previous construction (the stately medieval castle).
In the construction program of the Tovar lineages and the Dukes of Frías was also the erection of the palace in the inner enclosure of the 12th century wall, adapted to the new ways of life. This palace and its intramural gardens structured on various levels suffered, in 1811, a fire and destruction by Napoleonic troops, so that today only its main façade remains.
During the years 2004-2005, the Junta de Castilla y León undertook a Master Plan, a set of plans and actions aimed at the best conservation, protection and revitalization of this rich heritage. Research studies, consolidation and restoration of the remains of the monument or actions in the environment are included.
The stately castle (15th century) has a rectangular floor plan, in which the circular cube in the southern corner stands out, and the homage tower on the opposite side. Inside, two patios articulate the space: one, at the entrance, simpler, functioned as a parade ground; and the other, designed as a porticoed palatial courtyard, with Gothic columns, has a cistern in the center with a conduit that leads to the water tank.
Starting from the medieval stately castle, the artillery fortress was built in the 16th century. It has a rectangular floor plan with powerful cubes at each angle, oriented to the cardinal points, the two front ones house casemates to install the fortress's artillery. The walls, raised with quality ashlar masonry stone, are five meters thick and are finished off with a sloping parapet to deflect artillery impacts.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Langham_Place_(Hong_Kong):
Langham Place is a commercial complex and shopping centre in Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The official opening was on 25 January 2005. The complex occupies two blocks defined by Argyle Street, Portland Street, Shantung Street and Reclamation Street. Shanghai Street separates the two portions of the complex, which are connected via two overhead walkways. A hotel is on one side of the development while the commercial elements are located on the other side.
The complex was the result of an urban renewal project under Land Development Corporation, later known as Urban Renewal Authority (URA). Several city blocks, including the old "Bird Street" marketplace, were demolished to make way for the commercial complex.
Langham Place Tower has a gross floor area of 17,000 m2 (180,000 sq ft), and comprises a 59-storey office tower, a 15-level shopping centre with two basement levels, a 665-room hotel and a car park with 250 parking spaces. The complex is connected to the Mong Kok station of the MTR via an underground passage (Exit C3).
Due to the high price of land and the higher yield on retail property in Hong Kong, the Langham Place Mall departs from the common Western model of the flat shopping mall. It is the second "vertical mall" in Hong Kong. The exterior of the mall is characterised by a multi-faceted façade of yellow fissured Brazilian granite stretching from street level to the roof. Another distinctive feature is the 9-storey glass atrium which lets in natural lighting and allows passersby to look through the middle of the building.
The Mall's 56,000 m2 (600,000 sq ft) of retail space is configured over 15 levels, with 5,600 m2 (60,000 sq ft) of space per level from the second basement level to fourth level; and 3,700 m2 (40,000 sq ft) of space per level from level 5 upwards. There is a food court on level 4 and a cinema run by CINEMA CITY on level 8 and an "indoor alfresco dining" area on the top floor.
The mall was designed by the Los Angeles-based firm Jerde Partnership and opened for business in November 2004.

In 1997, the owners of the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association, which then played in the eight-year-old, publicly financed Miami Arena, threatened to move to Broward County unless they were given the $38 million parcel of land for the new arena by Alex Penelas, then-mayor of Miami. The agreement provided that the county receive 40% of annual profits of the arena above $14 million.
Kaseya Center is a multi-purpose arena on Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida. The arena was previously named American Airlines Arena from opening in 1999 until 2019, FTX Arena from 2019 until 2023 following the bankruptcy of FTX, and Miami-Dade Arena during an interim period in 2023. Since April 2023, the naming rights to the arena are owned by Kaseya under a 17-year, $117.4 million agreement.
The arena has capacity for 19,500 people, including 2,105 club seats, 80 luxury suites, and 76 private boxes. Additionally, for more intimate performances, The Waterfront Theater, the largest indoor theater in Florida, is within the arena complex, seating between 3,000 and 5,800 patrons. The theater can be configured for concerts, worship events, family events, musical theatre shows and other stage productions. American Airlines, which has a hub at Miami International Airport, maintains a travel center at the venue.
The arena is known for its unusual scoreboard, designed by artist Christopher Janney and installed in 1998 as part of the original construction. Drawing on the underwater anemone forms, the scoreboard also changes colors depending on the atmosphere.
For concerts in an arena configuration, end stage capacity is 12,202 for 180° shows, 15,402 for 270° shows, and 18,309 for 360° shows. For center stage concerts the arena can seat 19,146.
WTVJ, the city's NBC owned-and-operated station in Miami, had their Downtown Miami Studios in the back of the arena from 2001 until 2011.
In 2013, the Miami Heat paid rent on the arena for the first time pursuant to the percentage rent agreement with the county; the payment was $3.32 million.
The arena is directly served by the Miami Metrorail at Government Center station via free transfers to Metromover Omni Loop, providing direct service to Freedom Tower station and Park West station stations, within walking distance. It is also within walking distance from the Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre station.
The arena has 939 parking spaces, with those spaces reserved for premium seat and Dewar's 12 Clubhouse ticket holders during Heat games. Park Jockey manages the arena's on-site parking.

Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Following on the yellow signals of a coal train ahead of it, another loaded coal train is making its way up Thompson Hill. This train, similar to the one it is following, is configured 2x(0)x1. However, this train only has 75 loaded hoppers in tow, make it quite a bit shorter and lighter. The 4th tallest mountain in Utah, Mount Waas, stands tall in the distance at an elevation of 12,331 feet (3,758 meters).

Golden Gate Park > San Francisco
Golden Gate Park, located in San Francisco, California, United States, is a large urban park consisting of 1,017 acres of public grounds. It is administered by the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, which began in 1871 to oversee the development of Golden Gate Park. Configured as a rectangle, it is similar in shape but 20 percent larger than Central Park in New York, to which it is often compared. It is over three miles long east to west, and about half a mile north to south. With 13 million visitors annually, Golden Gate is the fifth most-visited city park in the United States after Central Park in New York City, Lincoln Park in Chicago, and Balboa and Mission Bay Parks in San Diego.
Fireworks - NDP Preview 2
The Singapore National Day Parade is a national ceremony in Singapore that, as its name implies, includes a parade on Singapore's National Day on August 9, in commemoration of Singapore's independence that is usually held at the Float @Marina Bay and various decentralized venues all over Singapore, Padang and the National Stadium.
This year, NDP will bring the mobile column to five heartland sites on 10 August 2019. The mobile column will be travelling to Bishan, Geylang Serai, Jurong East, Punggol, and Woodlands, where there will also be carnivals organised by the People’s Association. The one-day celebrations will culminate with dazzling fireworks displays at each of the five sites.
These are a series of photos, long exposures of the Marina Bay and Central Business District from the Sail @ Marina Bay - The structure of The Sail is 245 m (804 ft) with 70 storeys and is one of Singapore's tallest condominium/apartment. The building was erected on reclaimed land and was designed by Peter Pran and Timothy Johnson with leading design firm NBBJ. The two buildings include a glass facade, sculpted Marina Bay Tower to look like a sail, and configured the complex representative of a huge canyon, reflecting his utilisation of inspirations by the sun, the wind, and the water respectively.
Titan Airways Airbus A321neo G-XATW departing Glasgow for Aberdeen as "Zap 646." It arrived early afternoon from Stansted with Boris Johnson onboard and departed to Aberdeen after around 6 hours on the ground.
The aircraft is operated by Titan Airways on behalf of the UK Government and is configured in a VIP configuration. The aircraft was originally delivered in an all black livery and it was originally planned to operate on behalf of luxury tour operator TCS World Travel. However, it was later repainted to match RAF's VIP Voyager ZZ336 "Vespina" and has since operated on behalf of the UK Government for short haul trips, primarily with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on board.
This monstrosity of a bridge, built in 1896, is complex to describe because so many spans compose it. In addition, some have been demolished over the years. Roughly, here is the layout...from north to south, there are two five panel Pratt deck truss spans, followed by a six panel deck truss, which long, long ago was actually a trapezoidal through truss span. Then comes the main span, a giant Pennsylvania through truss span. Continuing south, there are then four Parker truss spans. Continuing south off the river, there are a few deck plate girder spans, ending with a set of seven beautiful red brick arch spans.
The bridge's truss spans are pin connected. The design of the truss spans is extremely complex. Strictly speaking, the trusses are configured as truss spans with four truss lines that are not evenly spaced apart, which produces three roadways of varying width. There is one wide roadway, and one narrower roadway, and in between the two an extremely narrow roadway. However, to understand the way the spans are structured, the trusses might also be thought of as two parallel truss spans (each with the more typical two truss lines) that sit side by side, and have their struts and portal bracing tied together. In between the two trusses, a third roadway is created. Thinking of the bridge in this manner might make sense, since unlike the other areas of the bridge, the narrow middle roadway is devoid of sway bracing, and has only portal bracing and struts connecting the nearby truss spans. This tends to make the bridge look visually like two parallel trusses.
Numerous unusual details exist on the truss spans. A few examples include complicated diagonal member connections to the bottom chord, lateral bracing that is positioned so that it passes through holes in the deck stringers, and some sections of bottom chord that include both eyebar and built-up box beam in the same panel. The bottom chord in the main span is polygonal, another unusual detail. There is an extremely wide variety of member sizes, styles, and built-up beam configurations on this bridge. The bridge has an infinite number of details to look at, and to a casual observer it may seem that no two parts of the bridge are alike. The bridge has a listed vertical clearance of 21.1 feet.
This bridge once served both rail and vehicular traffic, until it was closed to all traffic in 2001. Fortunately, enough people cared about this spectacular bridge to restore it for pedestrian use. The bridge reopened to non-motorized traffic in 2003 under the ownership of a group dedicated to preserving and reusing the bridge. Since then, it has been a popular pedestrian crossing of the Ohio River in the area. Additionally, a plan in 2006 was undertaken to create a "bridge climb" which was ultimately unsuccessful due to a lack of popularity and was canceled a few years later. The "bridge climb" was perhaps unsuccessful because it was a lot of hassle for something that was not real special, and amounted to merely a walk on the top chord of the through trusses. Railings and stairs were added to the top chord for this purpose. Despite this, taking the climb also included a safety training before people could do the climb.
This bridge is the most historically significant surviving bridge in the area next to the Roebling Bridge itself, and the community responded appropriately to save a breathtaking structure. The bridge is an example of unusual bridge construction, utilizing unusual types of structural elements. The size of the bridge alone is significant, and the main span would have been a very long simple span when completed and thus is technologically significant. When other cities have demolished bridges as significant as this one, Cincinnati and Newport went in the other direction and saved this bridge.
