This configuration requires the use of a third reactor pod due to the massive power requirements of constantly using both cannon pods and the fighers standared guns. This configuration is only use in larger and more drawn out missions as opposed to the normal hit and run raids where the other pod setups are more effictive for their cost.
The aircraft marked a departure from the traditional biplane configuration for a transport aircraft, instead featuring a single, low set, all metal cantilever wing. Retractable landing gear and a streamlined fuselage added to the aerodynamic efficiency of the aircraft. A single example was constructed for evaluation by both Boeing and the US Army (under the designation Y1C-18) but no mass production ensued, and the aircraft eventually joined Boeing's fleet on the San Francisco-Chicago air mail route from July 1931.
A second version was developed as the Model 221, with a fuselage stretched by 8 inches (20 cm) that sacrificed some of its cargo capacity to carry six passengers in an enclosed cabin; however the single pilot sat in an open cockpit. This version first flew on 18 August 1930. Both the Model 200 and the Model 221 were eventually modified for transcontinental service as the Model 221A, with slight fuselage stretches to give both a cabin for eight passengers. These aircraft were flown on United Air Lines' Cheyenne-Chicago route.
The advanced design of the Monomail was hampered by the lack of suitable engine and propeller technology. By the time variable pitch propellers and more powerful engines were available, the design had been surpassed by multi engined aircraft, including Boeing's own 247.

The new 911 G-Series was introduced in 1973. The US-Versions were all equipped with this new bumpers to conform with low speed protection requirements of US law from the very beginning. The integration of the new shock absorbing bumpers as standard of the European versions followed only one year later. In Germany the “G-Series” models since 1974 are called “Blasebalg”-models (German for “bellows”).

Ostrov North has a quite interesting configuration, with two additional hangars, like Ostrov South. I assume that the two additional Missile hangers were for a “Second Strike Capability”, which was also considered (but abandoned) for a least one silo complex (Nikrace).
However, I only got a few photos from Ostrov North. Someone used the Eastern Missile Hangar as a warehouse for some stuff, which gave a sharp, pungent smell. I went through the Missile Hangar, some workers were present, but they did not take much note of me. As I continued my photo shoot, however, a civilian guy in a 700 BMW, obviously concerned about my presence there, approached me. This didn’t worry me, since local people I have met on the sites have never previously objected to my presence.
The BMW guy spoke only Russian, but after some time, he came in contact with an English speaking acquaintance on his mobile phone. I explained what we were doing, but “Alex” was seemingly still not happy with my presence. He seemed perplexed when I explained that I found the base through the INF Treaty and had flown to St. Petersburg, driven by car to Pskov, stayed there and then driven out to the Missile Base with the help of some satellite maps. I showed “Alex” our passports, flight tickets, car rental papers as well as the photos I’d taken, but he still wasn’t happy with that.
In the end “Alex” insisted on my not taking any more photos and our leaving the base. So I left, since I did not know if he were in a position to enforce his resistance against my photo shoot.
Anyway, it appears there’s a Dvina Complex at Ostrov too, and, as soon as I find it’s exact location, I will go to Ostrov again to document his. I then plan to go back to Ostrov North and give it another try, but this time I’ll be there on a Sunday – and steer clear of the Eastern Missile Hangar!
This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2017 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 30th June 2017. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of its kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. This geographic feature is one of only a small number towns with this parallel configuration in all of Europe.
The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. These roads offer a great contrast from the urban population of Kilcock which has grown as a satellite town of the greater Dublin area. The nice summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Gaelscoil near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track. Running clubs and groups from all over Leinster and beyond were represented in the race tonight.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This configuration was offered in the Corvette from 1957 through 1965, in 283 ci size for 1957-61 and 327 ci for 1962-65. It was discontinued after 1965 in favor of the 427 ci big block engine which made more power for less cost.
The fuel injected small block was also available in full size Chevrolets from 1957 through 1959, after which it was dropped in favor of the first Chevy big block, the 348 / 409 ci "W-head".

At the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, Nanton, Alberta, Canada, August 7th, 2019.
Westland Lysander T.T. Mk. III, RCAF (Serial No. 1557). This aircraft is painted in distinctive yellow and black stripes indicating its role as a target towing aircraft. The aircraft was built by Westland Aircraft Limited at Yeovil, Somerset as a Lysander Mk. IIIA. It became a United Kingdom contribution to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and allocated RAF (Serial No. V9358). After being shipped to Canada, this Lysander was assembled by Fleet Aircraft Limited at Crumlin Airport Ontario, better known today as London International Airport. It was taken on strength with the RCAF on 27 Jan 1942 and re-serialed as 1557. The aircraft was later stored in reserve with No. 1 Training Command. Lysander 1557 was converted to the target towing configuration on 24 Oct 1942 and re-designated as a Lysander T.T. Mk. III. It was transferred to Western Air Command`s No. 3 Operational Training Unit at R.C.A.F. Station Patricia Bay, British Columbia on 8 April 1943. Lysander 1557 was struck off stength with the RCAF on 21 July 1946.

The Westland Lysander is a British army co-operation and liaison aircraft produced by Westland Aircraft that was used immediately before and during the Second World War.
After becoming obsolete in the army co-operation role, the aircraft's short-field performance enabled clandestine missions using small, improvised airstrips behind enemy lines to place or recover agents, particularly in occupied France with the help of the French Resistance. Royal Air Force army co-operation aircraft were named after mythical or historical military leaders; in this case the Spartan admiral Lysander was chosen.
One hundred and four British-built Lysanders were delivered to Canada supplementing 225 that were built under licence by National Steel Car at Malton, Ontario (near Toronto) with production starting in October 1938 and the first aircraft flying in August 1939. The RCAF primarily operated Lysanders in the Army Co-operation role, where they represented a major improvement over the antiquated Westland Wapiti which could trace its origins back to 1916.
Initial training was conducted at RCAF Station Rockcliffe (near Ottawa, Ontario) with No. 123 Squadron running an army co-operation school there. Units that operated the Lysander for training in this role in Canada include 2 Squadron, 110 Squadron (which became 400 Squadron overseas) and No. 112 Squadron RCAF.
No. 414 squadron formed overseas and joined 110 Squadron and 112 Squadron with Lysanders. Prior to going overseas 2 Squadron was disbanded and its airmen reassigned to 110 and 112 Squadrons to bring them up to war establishment (2 Squadron would later reform in England as a Hawker Hurricane unit and eventually be renumbered as 402 Squadron). In all there were three squadrons ready to begin operations against the Axis Powers. Although Operation Sea Lion – the planned German invasion of Great Britain – was averted by the British victory in the Battle of Britain in 1940, the high losses suffered by RAF Lysanders in the Battle of France resulted in any plans for cross-channel offensive operations by Lysanders being put on hold, although the Canadian squadrons continued training with the Lysanders until suitable replacements were available.
No. 118 Squadron and No. 122 Squadron RCAF were the only Canadian units to use their Lysanders on active-duty operations – 118 in Saint John, New Brunswick, and 122 at various locations on Vancouver Island, where they performed anti-submarine patrols and conducted search-and-rescue operations. During the same period, No. 121 Squadron RCAF and several Operational Training Units (OTUs) used Lysanders – painted in a high-visibility yellow-and-black-striped scheme – for target towing duties.[21]
For a brief period in 1940 when every available Hurricane fighter had been sent overseas to fight in the Battle of Britain, leaving the RCAF without a modern fighter aircraft at home in Canada, two RCAF Lysander-equipped squadrons which were supposed to convert to fighter aircraft but had none to convert to were re-designated as operational fighter squadrons. 111 Squadron, a coastal artillery squadron which earlier had replaced its Avro trainers with Lysanders and been reclassified as an army co-operation unit, was again reclassified as a fighter squadron – the only one on the Canadian west coast – in June 1940. Lysander-equipped 118 Squadron also was redesignated as a fighter squadron. The Lysander completely lacked the capability to operate in a fighter role, and neither squadron saw action as a fighter unit while equipped with Lysanders, but their designation as fighter squadrons did allow RCAF fighter pilots to work up at a critical time without having to wait for the arrival of true fighter aircraft. No. 118 Squadron was disbanded in September 1940, and when it reformed in December 1940, still as a fighter squadron, it was equipped with 15 old, otherwise unwanted Grumman Goblin fighters produced by Canadian Car and Foundry. Both 111 and 118 Squadrons soon re-equipped with the Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk, bringing the brief service of Lysanders in fighter squadrons to an end.
By late 1944 all Canadian Lysanders had been withdrawn from flying duties.

These benches are just the best. Sailing is so much easier and more comfortable. Sleeping platform is much improved over previous method. Benches, sailing configuration. I'll varnish when absolutely sure the amines have stopped blushing. I left the surface of the slider brackets supporting the seats a little rough to provide a little friction. It keeps the benches from slipping around when the boat heels.

Just two weeks after the retirement of KLM's Boeing 747 passenger aircraft, two mixed configuration Jumbos re-entered service. This is due to the increased demand for air freight capacity by Philips and the Dutch government. The Jumbos carry medical equipment and supplies from Asia to Holland; a total volume of 250 tons per week. The air bridge consists of PH-BFT, PH-BFV and this one, PH-BFW.
This is a photograph from the SSE AIRTRICITY Dublin Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Bank Holiday Monday 26th October 2015 at 09:00.The Dublin Marathon has been held annually since 1980. The marathon course starts at Fitzwilliam Square in the city center and finishes at Merrion Square. For the past number of years there have been some changes to the configuration of the route at the start and finish due to traffic and transportation infrastructure work around the city center. However the majority of the race proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction around the city passing through the Phoenix Park, Chapelizod, Inchicore, South Circular Road, Walkinstown, Terenure, Clonskeagh, UCD, Stillorgan Dual Carriage Way, Ballsbridge and finishing up Northumberland Road and Mount Street. As always the organisation is first class and this seen just under 13,000 people complete the marathon course.
The weather conditions were not very good for marathon running with runners facing race and windy conditions around much of the course.
Overall the poor weather conditions did not make for very good photographic conditions particularly around the start and finish area where it was a little darker around the tall buildings and streets.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

The church dedicated to the Saviour's Configuration ("Metamorfosi tou Sotira") is built in the middle of "Palio Chorio" ("Old Village"). It was constructed in the 16th century (1520) and it has the same architectural style as the other two small churches of the village, that of "Panagia Theotokos" and that of Saint George "Perachoritis". Up until 1994, liturgies were conducted daily since it was considered as the village's main church.
It is a rectangular church of the Basilica style and with elements of the Byzantine style. It can accommodate up to 100-150 faithful. Externally it is made of stone and whitewashed.
The inhabitants built extensions to the church in 1880 and 1960 because the village was continuously growing. When they dug the floor they discovered many pieces of frescoes, which surely came from this church. Indeed, they were able to read the name of the hagiographer who was named Symeon Afxentis. He is known for his frescoes of the "Panagia Theotokos" and "Archangel" churches in the village of Galata.
The icon screen is woodcut, as also are the two Psalters that can be found in the church.
There are various remarkable representations dating back to the 16th and 17th century. The icon screen is of various different chronologies.

The settlement of Kakopetria, although mentioned by the mediaeval annalists, existed -at least- since the Frank domination era. The village's region was inhabited around the 6th - 7th century and the various excavations that have been conducted in 1938 around the old village of Kakopetria (in the Ailades venue) prove this.
During the excavations a dispenser of an ancient shrine -most probably belonging to the goddess Athena- came to light. A large number of movable findings were found, mainly terra-cotta, many of which depict the goddess Athena, as well as small, limestone, statues and parts of statues and bronze and iron shafts from spearheads and arrows. The findings most probably date back to the Archaic and Classic eras of Cyprus. Other statuettes represent Hercules and are an indication that he was also worshiped in the area along with the goddess Athena. These findings are found in the Archaeological Museum of Nicosia.
In January 2022 I visited a special exhibition of Barbara Hepworth's work at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield.
This brought together the Gallery's own Hepworth works and others loaned from elsewhere.
This 1955 piece in Guarea wood and was inspired by a visit to Greece following the death of Hepworth's eldest son Paul Skeaping. She noted "Timeless and in space, pure in conception and like a rock to hold on to, these forms in Greece have been a constant source or inspiration". Phira is the capital of Santorini.

The Sandhurst Military Skills Competition has run in various configurations since 1967. This year, it is a two-day event conducted at the United States Military Academy West Point, New York, April 10 and 11. At its core, Sandhurst is an inter-company competition for USMA. However, West Point teams now compete, not only amongst themselves, but against teams from their fellow United States Service Academies, 8 select University ROTC teams, the United States Military Academy Preparatory School team, and international teams from Britain's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), Canada's Royal Military College (RMC), and The Chilean Military School. Each USMA Cadet Company and visiting team selects a 9-member Squad (at least one member must be female) with two alternates. This is a photograph from the SSE AIRTRICITY Dublin Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Bank Holiday Monday 26th October 2015 at 09:00.The Dublin Marathon has been held annually since 1980. The marathon course starts at Fitzwilliam Square in the city center and finishes at Merrion Square. For the past number of years there have been some changes to the configuration of the route at the start and finish due to traffic and transportation infrastructure work around the city center. However the majority of the race proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction around the city passing through the Phoenix Park, Chapelizod, Inchicore, South Circular Road, Walkinstown, Terenure, Clonskeagh, UCD, Stillorgan Dual Carriage Way, Ballsbridge and finishing up Northumberland Road and Mount Street. As always the organisation is first class and this seen just under 13,000 people complete the marathon course.
The weather conditions were not very good for marathon running with runners facing race and windy conditions around much of the course.
Overall the poor weather conditions did not make for very good photographic conditions particularly around the start and finish area where it was a little darker around the tall buildings and streets.

Just two weeks after the retirement of KLM's Boeing 747 passenger aircraft, two mixed configuration Jumbos re-entered service. This is due to the increased demand for air freight capacity by Philips and the Dutch government. The Jumbos carry medical equipment and supplies from Asia to Holland; a total volume of 250 tons per week. The air bridge consists of PH-BFT, PH-BFV and PH-BFW.

This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the 2017 Pat Finnerty Memorial 5KM Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 24th May 2017 at 20:00. This is the final round and consequently some of the decisions around the final configuration of the category prizes are still open for resolution. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Tonight's weather was absolutely wonderful. Warm summer air filled the Belvedere area as the runners were treated to perfect summer weather. Just under 200 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail. Congratulations are due to all of the Mullingar Harriers club who put this excellent series together.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the 2017 Pat Finnerty Memorial 5KM Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 24th May 2017 at 20:00. This is the final round and consequently some of the decisions around the final configuration of the category prizes are still open for resolution. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Tonight's weather was absolutely wonderful. Warm summer air filled the Belvedere area as the runners were treated to perfect summer weather. Just under 200 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail. Congratulations are due to all of the Mullingar Harriers club who put this excellent series together.
