For those running Kenworth’s W900S with the PACCAR PX-9 engine in a set-forward front axle configuration, a fixed grille option is available. This allows the truck operator or body builder to utilize the front of the truck without impacting the ability to open the hood. It is especially useful for crane operators or those using the W900S as vacuum trucks with a ‘steady leg,’ or boom supports.
The original configuration of NBC's 4th floor "EJ" (Electronic Journalism) had this console along the hallway leading from the studio elevators to the West building. The view is into the playback area towards a group of 3/4-inch U-Matic machines; BVU-200's that are yet to be operational at this point (no control panels are installed yet). At the time of this photo, the space was being used as a background for a video shoot. In the background can be seen an RCA TK-46P on a portable pedestal and lighting units are in place around the equipment.
The man seated at left has been identified as Don Oricco. The woman in the center is unidentified. The man at the right is believed to be Jay Fine.
The area was years later remodeled for playback only when Beta SP VTR's were introduced in the 80's (see "NBC1EJPBEast.JPG" through "NBC4EJPBEast.JPG"). The front console was removed and additional VTR's were placed in the racks at the right from behind, making what was the back of each rack into the front. In place of the console was a desk facing the hallway with Beta VTR's on it to allow producers to screen taped material.
Since 6/04, playback has moved to new video server rooms located in DPS on the 5th floor.
This space was demolished in 6/07 and is now used by NBC News as MSNBC office space.

The photos in this album are of the property, possessions and projects of a fine older gentleman named Willie Shepherd.
He owns a LARGE property in Lookout, California. It is full of old tractors, cars, trucks, bulldozers and vehicles of varied and sundry description. My girlfriend Zoe bought a 1955 Carpenter (1954 GMC based) school bus from him, and he towed it the 17 miles to our Ranch with his old tractor on public roads:

Willie also renovates and runs old steam engines. For years Willie has been showing and demonstrating his equipment for anyone interested.
A few years ago, Willie had a steam powered sawmill in operation, on which he sawed a log during his show.
This year (2014), Willie's open house show is to be held on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15.
You can telephone Willie at (530) 294-5141
Be patient, he's a bit hard of hearing.

The Launch Configuration EMI test places the satellite into launch configuration and measures the electromagnetic emissions and subjects expected electromagnetic radiation that JPSS-1 would expect to see at the Vandenberg launch site. It verifies that JPSS-1 emissions will not impact the Delta II launch vehicle when they are mated and that the Delta II, Range radars, and other noise sources at the range don’t negatively impact JPSS operation.

The “F-Series” (F-model) are widely seen as the genuine models (master pattern) of all 911-types in summing up of the series from MY 1968 (introduced in the middle of 1967) “A-series” to MY 1973 (discontinued in the middle of 1973).
The identifying of an early successor, an European G-model MY 1974, could lead to the following mystic question: Why are impact bumpers fitted to some early “G-series” models only?
The new 911 G-Series was introduced in 1973. The US-Versions were all equipped with this new bumpers to conform with low speed protection requirements of US law from the very beginning. The integration of the new shock absorbing bumpers as standard of the European versions followed only one year later. In Germany the “G-Series” models since 1974 are called “Blasebalg”-models (German for “bellows”).

Just two weeks after the retirement of KLM's Boeing 747 passenger aircraft, two mixed configuration Jumbos re-entered service. This is due to the increased demand for air freight capacity by Philips and the Dutch government. The Jumbos carry medical equipment and supplies from Asia to Holland; a total volume of 250 tons per week. The air bridge consists of PH-BFT, PH-BFV and this one, PH-BFW.
This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2017 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 30th June 2017. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of its kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. This geographic feature is one of only a small number towns with this parallel configuration in all of Europe.
The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. These roads offer a great contrast from the urban population of Kilcock which has grown as a satellite town of the greater Dublin area. The nice summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Gaelscoil near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track. Running clubs and groups from all over Leinster and beyond were represented in the race tonight.
Electronic timing and event management was provided by Irish company MyRunResults.com (Website: www.myrunresults.com/)

You can share directly to: email, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
BUT..... Wait there a minute....
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.
This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting takes a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.
I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

This configuration - a 3 axle dump with a "drop axle" - has become quite popular in California during the past 20 years. The drop axle is a non-driving, self-steering axle deployed by inflating its air suspension bags to provide extra carrying capacity when loaded. Its certified GAWR is 12,000#. When the truck is empty the air bags are deflated and it is lifted off the ground.

ZEN MAGNETS - Neodymium Magnetic Balls (@688) - Martian Tripod Variation
Back in the golden age of radio, one Halloween night in 1938, Orson Wells performed his presentation of H.G. Well's classic The War Of The Worlds in such a realistic fashion that mass hysteria erupted with people thinking it was real. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_of_the_Worlds_%28radio_dram...
A couple of great movie and musical renditions followed.
For this Halloween, here is my variation of a Martian Tripod ... the actual creature or the machine it piloted ... three leg configuration with slightly spherical body, heat ray on top, and larger and longer tentacles.
Check out the build starting at the end of this set for details ... www.flickr.com/photos/tend2it/sets/72157627999327388
The spherical body and leg sections were made predominantly out of 6 ring hexagon layering. The tentacles were 4-ball square chains.
Special lighting achieved using green and red lasers.
(@034) = Heat Ray - (12-ball arranged 2-ball w/1-ball tips) + (6-ball linked at top) + (4 x 4-ball squares along 12-ball spine to hold a bend in place to the bottom) ... this is attached to the top raised 6-ball hex in the center.
(@330) = Spherical Body - (6-ball hex + (6 x 6-ball hex)) + (6 x 1-ball) + (6 x 6-ball hex) + (6 x 6-ball hex) + (6 x 6-ball hex) + (6 x 6-ball hex) + (6 x 6-ball hex on top of open side) + (7 x 6-ball hex on top of other side) + (6 x 6-ball hex on top of side 7-ball rings) + (6-ball hex added to large open side hole) + (3 x 6-ball hex stacked on top of filled in hole - note: this will be the top where the heat ray will connect to)
(@204) = Legs - 3 x ((5 x 6-ball hex thigh) + (4-ball square kneecap) + (5 x 6-ball hex calf) + (3 x 1-ball front toes) + (1-ball back ankle)) ...
(@120) = Tentacles - 3 x (10 x 4-ball squares) ... attached to the 2-ball bottom side sections between each leg on the Spherical body
Note: the legs attached to every other hex on the side where the 7 hex touch - stronger than the side that was opened and filled with a hex. Thigh to calf section is attached along two inside balls parallel and the knee 4-balls are used to keep the leg bent at an angle with a slight gap.

Why materials crack
Dr Gabor Csanyi from the Mechanics, Materials and Design division of the Department of Engineering, and his team have had a research paper published in the journal Nature. The research explores how and why materials crack with the hope that by understanding how cracks propagate, scientists and engineers will be better able to prevent cracks from occurring.
Using computer simulations, they studied the motion of atoms that takes place when cracks occur in brittle materials, such as those used in making electronic devices, solar cells, surface coatings and armour. Surprisingly, it turned out that they needed to resort to using Quantum Mechanics, the most fundamental theory that describes the physical world, to explain why the motion of cracks in silicon are unstable, and why these cracks exhibit jogs and kinks as the two halves of the material part at high speed.
Further information about Gabor's research can be found on his website: camtools.cam.ac.uk/access/wiki/site/5b59f819-0806-4a4d-00...

There are 4 diode positions on the Scan PCB which set various options. 2 Are normally fitted, giving 80 step (not 50 step) programs and 10 (not 4) data registers. One of the other diodes exchanges the positions of the ln/log and exp/10^x functions, the last one appears to have no effect. Here, a DIP switch is temporarily soldered to the Scan PCB so as to be able to switch the diodes in and out of circuit to investigate their functions

Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 24th May 2017 at 20:00. This is the final round and consequently some of the decisions around the final configuration of the category prizes are still open for resolution. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Tonight's weather was absolutely wonderful. Warm summer air filled the Belvedere area as the runners were treated to perfect summer weather. Just under 200 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail. Congratulations are due to all of the Mullingar Harriers club who put this excellent series together.
Timing and event management was provided by http://www.myrunresults.com/. Their website will contain the results to today's race.

First year for the full size Bronco, with 2, 3, 5 or 6 passenger configuration options, full time 4WD and standard 5.8 liter (351) V8. The full size Bronco was slightly smaller than the 2-door Jeep Cherokee or Dodge Ramcharger and boasted 81 cubic feet interior volume (cargo volume index), smaller the the Cherokee's 95 cubic feet. Load rating for standard 2-seat models was 1,000 lb (1/2 ton). With production at 70,546, the full size '78 outsold each year of the compact 1966-1977 Bronco.

This configuration requires the use of a third reactor pod due to the massive power requirements of constantly using both cannon pods and the fighers standared guns. This configuration is only use in larger and more drawn out missions as opposed to the normal hit and run raids where the other pod setups are more effictive for their cost.

It's the first week of school and this teacher is setting the tone for her classroom with her board configuration.
Ostrov North has a quite interesting configuration, with two additional hangars, like Ostrov South. I assume that the two additional Missile hangers were for a “Second Strike Capability”, which was also considered (but abandoned) for a least one silo complex (Nikrace).
However, I only got a few photos from Ostrov North. Someone used the Eastern Missile Hangar as a warehouse for some stuff, which gave a sharp, pungent smell. I went through the Missile Hangar, some workers were present, but they did not take much note of me. As I continued my photo shoot, however, a civilian guy in a 700 BMW, obviously concerned about my presence there, approached me. This didn’t worry me, since local people I have met on the sites have never previously objected to my presence.
The BMW guy spoke only Russian, but after some time, he came in contact with an English speaking acquaintance on his mobile phone. I explained what we were doing, but “Alex” was seemingly still not happy with my presence. He seemed perplexed when I explained that I found the base through the INF Treaty and had flown to St. Petersburg, driven by car to Pskov, stayed there and then driven out to the Missile Base with the help of some satellite maps. I showed “Alex” our passports, flight tickets, car rental papers as well as the photos I’d taken, but he still wasn’t happy with that.
In the end “Alex” insisted on my not taking any more photos and our leaving the base. So I left, since I did not know if he were in a position to enforce his resistance against my photo shoot.
Anyway, it appears there’s a Dvina Complex at Ostrov too, and, as soon as I find it’s exact location, I will go to Ostrov again to document his. I then plan to go back to Ostrov North and give it another try, but this time I’ll be there on a Sunday – and steer clear of the Eastern Missile Hangar!
