This page from one of LeConte Stewart's notebooks discusses how value gives importance to compositional elements. Part of "LeConte Stewart Papers" in the Special Collections Department, J. Willard Marriott Library, University of Utah.
Salvador Dali (~1928).
The Teatre-Museu Dali in Figueres is pretty much the only big attraction in town. (Most Catalonians would probably even tell you the same.)
This is the birthplace of Salvador Dali, and he created this museum (in addition to working here while it was a museum; before he died, you could go to the museum and see him working or sleeping).
Dali is to surrealism what the New York Yankees are to baseball. Can't have a complete discussion without it.
His work is the expression of an exceptionally unusual mind which is a window into an unorthodox life.
At the museum, you can find...sketches, paintings, abstract concepts (like the Mae West Room), jewelry he designed (created by another jeweler), works large (Gala) and small, concept pieces (Carnaval), and the man himself.
If you happen to come on 25 May of any given year, the museum charges double because they pull Dali out of his box and put him on display. He apparently created a chemical mixture that keeps him looking like he "just died 15 minutes ago" from what I've seen one guide say.
The majority of pieces in this museum are untitled, and I'll just label them "Dali." Otherwise, titles included if I know them.
Welcome to Dali's world...
