2021

Gino's friend Steve is in town for the summer, so we all decided to get together and take some photos!

At first we did some location shooting, which I hate these days because for one, I don't have a powerpack for the Alienbees and two, I don't have a proper triggering system (unless I am using my speedlite only.) So we go around Kent and shoot some then go to my basement and shoot on the white backdrop.

I decided to put an old couch onto the backdrop and have people dive onto it. I had no plan for the shots, just thought it'd be fun to see people in mid air. I wanted to edit one and realized I had to do something like this, So I found the background on a stock website and decided to use it as a starting place.

A composition exploring the layered effect of stars and blue over a rosy sunset.

Vintage jointed dolls made entirely of composition, 8 inches (20cm) high. Beautifully dressed in their original silky costumes. The girl on the right is missing her left arm. I am not sure how old they are, but I have seen similar dolls offered for sale in their original boxes with a very 1960s/70s look. It would be interesting to know why Chinese makers were still using composition long after plastic and vinyl had come to dominate in commercial doll production. I certainly much prefer composition, even if it is prone to cracking and crazing as seen on these girls' faces.

A little cheating on this one, three photos combined to create this image.
