Completion of the Spinning Mills at Gilford took place in November 1841, and an extract from the Northern Whig of November 22, 1924, recalls the occasion, "19th November, 1841 was a great day in Gilford when one of the most splendid soirees ever held in this part of the country took place at the Works of Messrs. Dunbar, McMaster & Co. in the reading room and library belonging to the establishment.

Inverneill Parish Church
According to the South Knapdale Parish history. The church was built not long after Kilberry Parish Church at Achahoish so soon after 1775. Soon after completion almost all the windows had to be replaced then it went into decline in the 19th Century.
There is a separate building on the North side which is presumably the Session House mentioned by Pevsner
It was already a ruin by 1900.
A school was built near the church, sometime between the 1st and 2nd Edition O.S. Map.
