I 'cheated' a little as the design is the same as the block that Kate made for me. (Kate, after struggling with the 'Y' seams, I am truly amazed with the sewing that you did in my block). I ended up using this design as I was struggling to find a design that would fit with the amount of patterned fabric that I had, plus it is a design that I really love.
I had quite a bit of trouble with the set in seams, or 'Y' seams.
Brief was to create something inspired by symmetry, tessellations, art nouveau and art deco, and kaleidoscope blocks.
Workers working to complete a building out in the sun. It's punishing out there, especially during Ramadan when you can't eat or drink till sundown. Most companies introduce Ramadan hours, where you go to work a little later and finish up a little earlier. Alternatively, some places may allow people to work in the evenings, so you can eat and it's cooler. I'm not sure these guys got special treatment though.
