In completing the circular back to the Visitor Centre, the two buses took the scenic route past the historic Barlaston Hall. Nowadays a private residence the 250-year-old building has itself undergone a major degree of restoration - particularly since the 1980s when its was saved from imminent demolition.

On Neeley Road this summer, the contractor will be working on completing the fills and finishing the bridge. By this time next year, NCDOT will have shifted traffic onto the new road and put on the finishing touches, including landscaping.
