Completed in 1886, the Second Empire-style John Bremond Jr. House is the most outstanding home in the Bremond Block Historic District - a collection of eleven historic homes in downtown Austin, constructed from the 1850s to 1910. The block was added to National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and is considered one of the few remaining upper-class Victorian neighborhoods of the middle to late nineteenth century in Texas. Six of the eleven houses were built or expanded for members of the families of brothers Eugene and John Bremond, who were prominent in late-nineteenth-century Austin social, merchandising, and banking circles.
Located on the corner of Seventh and Guadalupe, the John Bremond, Jr. House is a graceful and exuberant example of Texas Victorian architecture. Its crested mansard roof has elaborate dormers, polychrome slate shingles, and concave bracketed curves on the front gable. The cast-iron work on the wrap-around gallery is outstanding. This house and several of the others were built by George Fiegel. All the buildings within the Bremond Block are beautifully maintained. The John Bremond, Jr. house is currently owned by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, who have made it the association headquarters.
As of 2021, Austin had an estimated population of 964,177, The city is the cultural and economic center of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan statistical area, which had an estimated population of 2,421,115 as of July 1, 2022. Austin is home of the University of Texas at Austin, one of the largest universities in the U.S. with over 50,000 students.

The Cobblestone Farm house, completed in 1845, was originally a two-family home. Benajah Ticknor, a U.S. Naval surgeon, and Heman Ticknor, whig politician and farmer, shared occupancy of this classic revival structure with their families.

Having completed turning this welded rail train on the yard lead via CPF 197 and 196 this CSXT/Pan Am Rigby yard crew is headed back to the yard with the train as they catch the last glow of evening sun. It will be doubled to the rear of M426 and head to Waterville the next morning ultimately destined for the track project going on between Northern Maine Junction and Mattawamkeag as CSXT rebuilds the old Maine Central mainline they purchased last year.
The crew has a nice merger pair of geeps in the form of MEC 514 and CSXT 2548, the former of which is a GP40-2W blt. Apr. 1976 as CN 9655 and the latter a GP38-2 blt. Nov. 1973 as SCL 548 and delivered in black and yellow. They are on Main 1 of 1500 ft long double track bridge over the Fore River with the warehouses of Merrill's Marine Terminal (owned by New England based Sprague Energy since 2005), an important railroad customer, visible at center behind the train.

For anyone who enjoyed the recent "Wolf Hall" books or TV adaptation, this will make a lot of sense:
"These angels were made in England by the Tuscan sculptor Benedetto da Rovezzano for the magnificent but never completed tomb commissioned by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. They were intended to stand atop nine-foot high columns at each corner of the tomb chest. After Wolsey's downfall, King Henry VIII appropriated them for his own tomb. This also remained unfinished."

The main structure was completed in 1846. In 1847, the church was designated the cathedral of Bytown and Joseph-Bruno Guigues was appointed the first bishop. He is honoured with a lifesize statue at the southwest corner of the cathedral grounds. In 1859, Father Damase Dandurand, OMI, designed the two Gothic spires which were added to the west front in 1866. Earlier, in 1849-50, he designed the Archbishop's Palace and in 1862-63, added the choir loft.[7] In 1879, Pope Leo XIII designated the cathedral as a minor basilica.
Still have to sort out the terrain and barrier off the eighth side but not far to go now, though at this stage, every brick feels it takes the effort of ten.

The building is hugely intimidating with proportions of a city larger than the worlds capital and for robots with chromed skulls. A building for post-humans?

The Wallace Monument on the edge of Scotland, with the Ochil Hills behind and surrounded by autumn trees. Construction started in 1861, being completed in 1869, by architect J T Rochead.
It celebrates one of Scotland's greatest heroes - and one of its most mythologised, it is often hard to tell fact from hyperbole - with the tower looking towards the site of his great victory over a far larger and better equipped English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.
Wallace would lose his life during the Wars of Independence, but the Bruce would rise to become King of Scots and soundly defeat a much larger force at nearby Bannockburn in 1314 - although the wars would rumble on somewhat, this effectively sealed those conflicts, preserving Scotland as an independent kingdom for centuries, changing the way the history of the British Isles would unfold (eventually leading to a Scottish Stuart king being asked to assume the English throne after the death of Elizabeth I - in true Stuart fashion they did make a mess of that a few decades later, of course!)
Such gorgeous autumnal light today, got to enjoy these views where our national history, landscape and architecture all blended, caught in beautiful, golden light and sharing that view with my dad.
After completing their work at Johnson & Johnson, H23 makes their turn at the end of the line and heads west back towards Lancaster, PA. Southeast Pennsylvania is full of small family farms growing an abundance of crops and livestock. The corn looks that it will be knee high by the fourth of July.
