I now have (and have healed) all of the piercings I want for my right ear.
Once my new piercings (left ear) have healed, I will start to stretch my first lobe piercings (they're currently at 2mm / 12ga).

A Floater Operation is the insertion of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician by either helicopter or small boat in order to dispose of a floating or drift sea mine.

Metropolis II was started in 2006 and comprises an entire Los Angeles-esque complex made up 1100 custom-designed cars whizzing along eighteen highways through and around a variety of architectural structures.
This outwardly modest parish church is hidden at the far end of its village below the Evesham-Broadway road, with a fine Tudor manor for company. The structure is unremarkable, the stark late-Gothic tower not completed until 1686. The appeal of the church is due to the patronage of the Sandys family which bought the estate in 1594. A Sandys was treasurer of the Virginia Company and may have taken local villagers to found a colony there. A colleague of Samuel Sandys, Royalist governor of Evesham during the Civil War, was Colonel Henry Washington. His widow married a Sandys and his daughter Penelope is commemorated in the chancel with the famous coat of arms of the stars and stripes. The coat of arms above the chancel arch displays the Sandys's Royalist sympathy. They are of James I, overpainted for Charles II and again for James II.
The nave is filled with high box pews decorated with linenfold panelling, more ornate towards the pulpit. The panels nearest the east of the nave and those of the three-decker pulpit are thought to be Flemish. The gallery and much of the church were restored in the 1940s by George Lees-Milne. The gallery is faced with three Baroque carvings from a London church. Similar carvings crown the font.
The chancel is dominated by the extraordinary Sandys twin monuments. The two men, father and son, both died in 1626 and are portrayed lying head to toe, with their wives by their sides. The son is a little lower than the father while the children are relegated to the chests. To the right of the altar is a revealed fresco of the Virgin and Child, of great antiquity and probably 13th century.

The South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) completed the tenth sensitization workshop on the operational delivery of the Confidence and Trust Building Policing Strategy (CTBPS). The course was supported by UNMISS Police, Human Rights Department and Child Protection Units.
CTBPS was developed by the former SSNPS IGP (Inspector General of Police) Pieng Deng Kuol following the crisis of December 2013, to provide a conceptual framework for rebuilding confidence and trust between the SSNPS and the people of South Sudan. It is in the main but not exclusively aimed at those IDPs sheltering at the UNMISS Protection-of-Civilians (PoC) sites. The strategy also aims to create an improved security environment that makes it possible for the safe return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their former areas of residence
To contribute to the strategy, UNMISS Police assist in sensitizing SSNPS officers in key areas, mainly Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Community Policing and Sexual and Gender based Violence, and support the SSNPS Emergency Call Centre (ECC) and quick response team known as “777”. UNPOL also participates in the coordination of the Police Development Committee and supports the UNDP ID card project by providing IT experts to operate the SSNPS Personnel Database.
In support of the SSNPS CTBPS, three police posts, located in Khor William and Gudele areas, were built using funding from UNMISS Quick Impact Projects (QIP). These areas have been identified under the strategy as being areas where IDPs originally fled their homes.
During two-week workshop, thirty-four specially selected officers participated in lectures and practical activities aimed at providing course delegates with skills and knowledge on how win back the trust of the public and increase the security of the communities.
Between January and April this year, the SSNPS have trained three hundred officers in seven sessions, while 104 officers underwent similar training in May-June 2015. The course participants will be performing their duties in Khor William and Gudele areas.
“We are here to support you, we are here to make things chance, we are here to see you changing,” said the UNPOL Chief of Operations, Mr. Emmanuel Butera, addressing the participants during the closing ceremony and assured them that UNMISS would continue support and facilitate such courses.
“Go out there and chance the environment, go out there and serve the people (of South Sudan), go out there and be trusted by your communities and be confident in whatever you are doing,” he continued.
Mr. Butera also urged the course delegates to immediately implement in practice the knowledge gained during the training, “What you have captured here should be useful not only to you but to the people you are serving.”
“When you are putting this uniform on, the communities should look at you as at the problem solvers. You should always be loyal to your leadership, to your nation, to your people,” he finished his speech.
“As we all know, we are still a new country. We need our friends so that we can all go together to give good services to the people who are in need,” said the Assistant IGP for General Directorate of Training, Lieutenant General Joseph Lado and thanked UNMISS for the continued support.
Mr. Lado also touched upon the selection of the candidates and stressed the significance of the fact that female police officers were very well represented and made up almost half of the participants.
“I urge you to start making the change in our police work, you have already got the necessary knowledge for that. We (the SSNPS leadership) want you to make use of this knowledge for the benefit of people of South Sudan,” he added.

The fragment of the rare Coverdale Bible used for this leaf book came from the
Huntington Library. The Introduction provides a full account of the first complete
printed edition of the English translation of the Bible, a masterpiece of prose
and a milestone in the sequence of English language Bibles. The census was prepared
by John Howell-Books.
The Overland Track is one of Australia's most famous bush treks, situated in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania. More than 8000 walkers each year complete the track. Officially, the track runs for 65 km from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair. However, many choose to add the hike along Lake St Clair as a natural extension, bringing the length to 82 km. The track winds through terrain ranging from sheer mountains, temperate rainforest, wild rivers and alpine plains all in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Aside from the main track there are also several alternative side tracks, including to the summits of Cradle Mountain and Mount Ossa, the tallest mountain in Tasmania. Also within reach are a group of tarns called The Labyrinth and Lake St Clair (the deepest lake in Australia). Walkers complete the trail in 5–6 days. This is normally done from north to south, which is the mandatory direction between 1 October and 31 May.
The landscape was all carved by glaciers during the last ice age, and the prominent mountains are composed of dolerite columns. The climate is generally unstable, with temperatures ranging from hot (35+°C) in summer to below zero in winter. Snow can fall at anytime and is common during the winter, especially on the Cradle Mountain Plateau and around Mount Ossa. Rain is very common, sometimes torrential though often settling to days of drizzle.
The most common fauna are Tasmanian Pademelons (native), possums and small rodents most of which are native. Also decidedly present, but not necessarily seen, are quolls, echidnas, tasmanian devils and wombats. There are also the famous Tasmanian leeches. The trail traverses areas of many types of vegetation, including Myrtle Beech forest, Eucalypts forest, Button Grass plains (swamps), alpine herb fields and shrubs and mosses.

I walked the Overland Track - solo - in May, which means autumn period in Tasmania. And got it all: sunshine, rain, lots of snow, and sunshine again. It was a mysterious adventure on the opposite side of the Earth.
For those who are interested, the itinerary was as follows: Ronny Creek -> Waterfall Valley -> Old Pelion -> Du Cane Hut -> Pine Valley (two nights) -> Echo Point -> Lake St. Clair.
During the second day, I hiked from Waterfall Valley to Lake Will, then continued along Lake Holmes and Lake Windermere to Frog Flats and back to Pelion Plains where I stayed overnight in the Old Pelion hut.
Completed in 1897 as Chicago’s first central public library, the building was designed to impress and to prove that Chicago had grown into a sophisticated metropolis. The country’s top architects and craftsmen used the most sumptuous materials, such as rare imported marbles, polished brass, fine hardwoods, and mosaics of Favrile glass, mother-of-pearl and colored stone, to create an architectural showplace. Located on the south side of the building, the world’s largest stained glass Tiffany dome ― 38 feet in diameter with some 30,000 pieces of glass ― was restored to its original splendor in 2008. On the north side of the building is a 40-foot-diameter dome with some 50,000 pieces of glass in an intricate Renaissance pattern, designed by Healy & Millet.
In 1991, the building was established as the Chicago Cultural Center by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the nation's first and most comprehensive free municipal cultural venue. Every year, the Chicago Cultural Center presents hundreds of free international, national, regional and local artists, musicians and performers, providing a showcase where the public can enjoy and learn about the arts.
Completed in 1886, the College is housed in one of the most spectacular university buildings in the world. The founder, Thomas Holloway, insisted that the building should resemble a French chateau and be larger than any in France. The architect William Henry Crossland modeled the Founder’s Building on Chambord and included in the design was both a large chapel and picture gallery. The beautiful gilded chapel includes sculptures by Ceccardo Fucigna and a fine 3-manual organ. The Chapel is non-denominational and there are a variety of services and events held including Choral Evensong from the 1662 prayerbook, Compline and Catholic masses, with music usually playing a central role. Royal Holloway is also the only university that still maintains a tradition of sung morning services.
Finally got out for a 'first ride' this AM before the rains came. The little Raleigh *and* rider returned unharmed.
