In a battle of blue belts, the strong blonde defeats the brunette to the point of unconsciousness. To add insult to injury, the blonde places her foot on her opponent’s chest in a victory pose. The blonde ended up being disqualified.

As many of you know, I am planning a French themed silver tinsel tree putz for the formal living room this year. Once I laid eyes on a cathedral putz that Howard Lamey of littleglitterhouses.com had done, I just knew that with modifications in color (and a Merry Christmas banner in French)—this would be just the thing for my French putz.
Here are some photos of my newly arrived “French Cathedral”, which a friend jokingly refers to as Notre Maria.
Oh and here's a link to Howard's original cathedral:

The results from my February monthly blood test were missing the m protein value. My particular type of multiple myeloma is less common and it is not always possible to get an m protein value - the best measure to determine my cancer levels. However, looking at less specific measures on my test results, I believe my cancer levels are similar to January (estimate between 13 and 14). The additional chemo seems to be keeping my cancer levels reasonably stable, however I remain hopeful for lower cancer levels for March.
M protein (g/L) (0 = no cancer detected)
Feb = value missing (estimate between 13 and 14)
Jan = 13 (began Ninlaro chemo - 2 weeks prior)
Dec = between 10 and 11
Nov = 8
July = 3.0 (ended dexamethasone - steroid)
Feb 2015 (began Pomalyst chemo + dexamethasone) = 36.1
Yes, everything takes longer than usual and I am quite forgetful, but each morning I wake up happy and ready for the day.
To recap: On Sunday, February 25th, I completed Cycle 40 Week 3. I have Multiple Myeloma and anemia, a rare cancer of the immune system. It is incurable, but treatable. Since February 9th 2015, I have been on Pomalyst and dexamethasone chemo treatment (Pom/dex). On July 16th, my dexamethasone treatment ended, due to eye damage, as reported by my Glaucoma Specialist, from long-term use. On January 9th I began Ninlaro chemo as my cancer levels have been steadily rising.
In many ways I think this new skin from The Body Co. makes my face look weird... but like good weird.
Molly’s owl face and Leah’s funny jack-o'-lantern. I asked them to try to match the expressions of their pumpkins.

My camera's view finder is a little off; I meant to get only from bumper to bumper of the Porsches (Think the silver one is cute? Me too, but then again, it's mine...). I'll crop it later.

Completed 1:18 head sculpt/paint app of the Alien in the 1979 Sir Ridley Scott motion picture ALIEN. This will be the first in three seperate head sculpt variations. Some shots I used a bright light to blow through the clouded dome to capture the look underneath. Others I left as is. I can't wait to begin sculpting the body to this guy - the xenomorph bug has bitten me and I want to do more!!! LOL! I'm really enjoying this project! www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYHX8AMKrTA&feature=share&...

San Francisco 49ers (red and gold) vs. division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, at Candlestick Park, San Francisco. (American Football). The 49ers won a sloppily played game by a score of 23-7 on this rainy day.
A 300mm focal length is too short to close in on players on the field, so I had to be satisfied with the bigger picture once the game started. Also, while the Nikon D3s has an amazingly fast autofocus, that best AF speeds work only with the pro lenses. The 28-300 is a very handy lens, but not quite fast enough for live sports.

A simple and effective frame jig. Made for the person who designed it. Just add a flat surface, and each block has reference marks for positioning over drawing centerlines.
for my first try, not bad. the star is a little off, and the edges a little fuzzy... but it does makes the pink almost bearable.

Book # 1 - Matched
From Goodreads - Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.
MY REVIEW - Do you want to know what I find scary? It's not blood, gore, guts, veins in the teeth kinda stories. It's also not things that go bump in the night or jump out at you in a dark alley. What I find scary are stories about dystopian societies that have gone a bit cray-cray! Societies that have dissolved into something far more scarier than a ghost or a random dead body in an alleyway. The Society in this book is a bit frightening. Your ability to make any kind of choice for yourself has been taken away for you. You are told what to eat, wear, whom to marry, what job you can have, and where you can live. You are not allowed to have any of your neighbors in your house and you are monitored 24/7 by "The Officials." The Society only lets you live till your 80th birthday and you can only have children up to the age of 31. At 17 you are matched to your spouse and at 21 you are married to them. Scared yet? You screw up and you get what are called infractions. The more infractions you receive the worse off your life can be.
All of the above is what happens to the main character Cassia. Cassia is 17 and is matched with her best friend Xander. She is soon to get her job placement and if she followed all the rules like she was supposed to she would have had the "perfect" life according to The Society. Well let's throw in another guy named Ky who is considered an aberration, some smuggled poetry from the old days, and feelings that she is not supposed to have. Matched is a pretty good story so far even though it is quite predictable. I'm not a huge fan of stories where the romance is the main focus, but I knew that going into the book. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to Cassia in the next two books of the series.

Book # 2 - Crossed
From Goodreads - In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake. Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.
MY REVIEW - Not bad, but there seems to be a theme here of redundancy. The same thing seems to be said over and over again. It was enough to make me want to fall asleep

Book # 3 - Reached
From Goodreads - After leaving Society to desperately seek The Rising, and each other, Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again. Cassia is assigned undercover in Central city, Ky outside the borders, an airship pilot with Indie. Xander is a medic, with a secret. All too soon, everything shifts again.
MY REVIEW - Predictable and redundant. I suggest you pick up the series at the library. It was enjoyable, but really did not have that WOW factor.
I started this top last August and finally quilted and bound it! Yay! This was also my first time FMQ--I made chains of stars to go with the Christmas theme. Blogged at squaringup.blogspot.com/2013/07/completed-christmas-quilt....
