Bisou Ai v. Madame Alexander Wendy

Even though they are pretty much the same hight, Bisou is Much skinnier than MA.

This is a comparison between Mars images taken on successive nights. The image on the left was taken in around 4/5 seeing with intermittent high clouds. The one on the right was taken in probably 4.5/5 seeing on a clear night.

There is definitely an improvement in resolution between the two nights. I would have to say that the image on the right is right at the limits of resolution on my 6" telescope.

Was happy to capture some of the clouds in several areas of Mars including one that is over Olympus Mons

So I decided to try on Nubar 2010 with some glittery nail polish and see what might work. This is the picture of the polish taken after 1 coat of Nubar 2010 was applied.

Index: Zoya Charla

Middle: Orly Royal Velvet (I know it doesn't look glittery but it's duochrome and shimmery!)

Totally didn't realize that I didn't upload my box opening + comparisons onto Flickr.

Box in a box!

I think its not bad for a V1 with ROA's wheels.

. . . between a small car and a small sauropod dinosaur. I don't think the MINI Cooper, even with its vaunted head and leg room, will accommodate this fellow.

I just received Pukipuki Ante in the mail a few days ago I'm not really sure how I feel about Fairyland's tan but I at least wanted to take comparison pictures of her.

Photos (NOT handheld shots) for comparison of the Nikkor 80-400 VR to the 70-200VR with and without the TC-20EII teleconverter. I have uploaded original full size photos for various focal lengths and apertures of each lens, along with two different crops of each photo.

All photos are unedited other than cropping.

The lens, focal length, and aperture data for each photo are given in the filenames.

All photos were taken with a Nikon D200 sitting on a stable piano bench approximately 8 feet from the feather, which was taped to a wall and sticking out horizontally into the air at about the same level as the camera, and roughly perpendicular to the camera's line of sight.

Auto focus was used to focus on the middle of the narrow blue stripe just to the left (in these photos) of the dark eye.

ISO was 100.

VR was off.

Mirror lockup and the default mirror lockup timed shutter release were used to prevent camera shake.

Illumination was from an SB800 flash mounted on the camera in TTL mode.

Spot metering was used.

Comparison of Harrods (left) Vs Regular (right)

Comparison shots of a Sony 1DIN CD fascia.

Left is the 18-55mm kit lens' effort at full zoom.

Right is the effect holding a reversed 50mm 1.8 lens in front of the 55 has (NB slightly cropped to remove vignette).

Pretty cool!

Can't wait to reverse mount the nifty fifty on my brand spanking 100mm f2.8 USM that should be arriving tomorrow :D :D :D

Bill and Chris were goofing off as I shot them in near freezing weather atop the Fred Meyer building on Hawthorne.

We were astonished by the changes going on inside the building.

I have been working and working on getting ready to go out of town today... so after the other night I'm feeling a bit of nostalgia. Here are some oldies, but goodies.

Cadence was 20 days old, Peyton 1 month 20 days. This was even before her due date. (I cropped my fat ugly mug out.) There is just a SLIGHT difference in size here.

Iplehouse faceup on left and Elin's new faceup on right.

I just completed my second faceup yesterday. When my much-anticipated Iplehouse Elin arrived, I was very disappointed with her company faceup. It was so pale and washed-out she reminded me of a little ghost. I really didn't feel the faceup my doll came with looked at all like the one shown on the Iplehouse website.

So I decided to wipe the faceup and got my painting materials out for the second time. I am much happier now with my Elin - she is a lot closer to how I imagined her rosy-cheeked and with a shy expression.

This is a comparison of the same photo in Color and B&W. Which do you think is best? I like the idea of comparing so much that I started a group, the Flickr B&W AND Color Pairs group. Please click on the group link below if you are interested.

Test wide open between the Yashinon-DX f1.7 on LEFT and Super-Multi-Coated Takumar f1.4 on RIGHT.

My thoughts are bi-directional about the results.

1. The Super-Multi-Coated Takumar on the RIGHT is as sharp at f1.4 as the other at f1.7, good news that is.

2. The Yashinon on the LEFT is quite a competetor, it is as sharp as a reknown Takumar. That's saying something. The build "looks" less exacting than the Takumars but from behind the viewfinder it is very nice to work. I also see from the original files that there is no color cast like either of my Takumars which have yet to be hit with the UV treatment.

Comparison of M27 done in wideband LRGB with conservative processing, wideband RGB with contrast masking and extreme stretching, and narrowban Ha/Oiii+wideband green using contrast masking and extreme stretch.

I bought a set of Kenko extension tubes recently and thought it will be fun to see the difference between the using the tubes, with my 50mm, and using my 100mm macro lens.

All four photos were taken at the minimum focus distance. To make for easier comparison, I cropped the photos into a square using the width of the photos to form the length.

The main difference between using the extension tubes and a proper macro lens is that while a macro lens can focus from the minimum focus distance to infinity, an ordinary lens with and extension tube cannot.

Personal opinion, while extension tubes can bring you up close, they do not replace proper macro lens :-)
