A simpel 300W studio flash with a softbox was placed to the right. It points slighty upward and away from the background. The distance to the hand is minimal (less then a feet). The flash was triggered with an on-camera 430 EX that was equipped with a cardboard snoot. The directed light from the Speedlite created a nice diffuse reflection on the charcoal-colored plastic background. Skin tone corrections and dust cleanup were made in PS CS3.
Rechts vom Bild ist ein Studioblitz mit Softbox (300W, maximale Leistung). Dieser leuchtet leicht in Richtung Kamera nach oben, damit der Hinter- und Untergrund in Dunkelheit und Unschärfe versinkt. Hier fiel es mir schwer einen Kompromiss aus störendem Streulicht und richtiger Lichtgestaltung zu finden. Als Hintergrund hab ich eine ca. 50x50cm große und dunkle Kunststoffplatte verwendet. Den Studioblitz habe ich über einen Speedlite 430 EX mit einem Karton-Snoot auf der Kamera ausgelöst. Am Ende standen dann noch Farbkorrekturen (Hauttöne), Tonwertanpassungen und das Entfernen von Staub und Kratzern in PS CS3.
This is what the trash compactor at my apartment building looks like after the Thanksgiving holiday. For some reason, the other residents have problems getting it to work, so they leave their trash stacked up here. I've 'fixed' the compactor and cleared the area before, but I just couldn't bring myself to be the trashperson again. Shame on me.
A brand new cassette tape, bought today in Poundland in Leamington Spa. Two for £1 (everything in Poundland is £1).

Bought these beauties from an auction on eBay. At just 99p (excluding P&P) - I was more than willing to give these middle aged babes a loving home.
The Viv is already giving me teething issues, but the Oly pretty much just wanted to get straight to bidnezz. The Konica lays dormant in waiting for a fresh battery however. With fresh Fujifilm I'm sure over the next couple months we'll be having a lot of fun together.

Appareil compact 35mm peu courant fabriqué au Japon en 1989 de n° 70230585. Viseur central et mise au point fixe. Objectif Fujinon 9,5/35mm et obturateur 1 vitesse au 1/100s. Film 135 en 24x36, 2 piles LR 06, flash débrayable électronique. Appareil en plastique de 164g et de dimensions de : 13 x 7.4 x 4.4 cm avec volet de fermeture coulissant. Existe aussi en rouge.
Introduced in 1975, the Yashica Electro GX is the last of the long line of Yashica Electro compact rangefinder cameras (G,GT,GSN,etc...). It is also smaller than the other models. In addition to having a very sharp 40/1.7 lens, aperture priority mode, the rangefinder & viewfinder are coupled and it comes with built-in parallax correction (the gridlines move to adjust for parallax difference).

This compact lens handles quite well. Great for travelling and grabing pictures of things further afield. At minimim focusing distance, the lens extends quite a bit forward. The relatively high resolution gives good details and the out of focus rendition is quite pleasant. However, the weight of this little chrome beauty is heavy than expected if you are picking up the lens for the first time.

In February, I noted the following statement from the U.S. Government:
"If every American home changed out just 5 high-use light fixtures or the bulbs in them with ones that have earned the ENERGY STAR, each family would save more than $60 every year in energy costs, and together we'd keep more than one trillion pounds of greenhouse gases out of our air – equal to the emissions of 8 million cars. That's a $6 billion energy savings for Americans, equivalent to the annual output of more than 21 power plants."
I am now quite pleased to note that we have replaced 20 bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs at home.

This is a nice little compact camera from the late 1960s. It is very sturdy with all metal construction. The condition is surprisingly good except that the lens label plate is missing and the foam seals need replacement. The selenium meter is still working, but the EV reading is one stop lower when compared with my DSLR. This can be compensated with higher ISO setting (e.g. use ISO 200 for ISO 100 film). The maximum ISO setting is 200. That leaves ISO 100 film as the best choice for this camera.
The lens is Fujinon 38mm f/2.8 with aperture down to f/22. The Seiko-L shutter has speed 1/30-1/250s, and Bulb. The shutter works in one of three modes: (1) when the aperture is set to "A", the shutter is automatically locked to "A/flash", this is the programmed auto exposure mode; (2) when the aperture is set to a non-"A" position and the shutter is set to "A/flash", the shutter speed is set to a fixed flash sync speed, this is the flash mode; (3) when both aperture and shutter are set to non-"A" position, it works in full manual exposure mode.
