It is not every day you get to see a spider saving a moth from falling off a leaf and today is not that day.

If you are not familiar with how these spiders hunt they release a pheremone to attract in a male moth looking to mate and instead are met with a hungry set of fangs at the end of a spider that spends half of its time looking like a bit of bird poop.

I am not certain which species of Moth it is feeding on so will leave it as Moth.

Have a nice day

Comments always appreciated - I love to hear your feedback! xx

I had a visit from my friend Fiona, who had never been out dressed in the daytime before, so it was a big moment.

She was such a natural though, she wasn't fazed at all and took it all in her stride. We had a wander round Hull town centre, shopping, seeing some of the sights and a drink in a pub in the old town. It was a lovely afternoon!

In Queens Gardens in the city centre. Queens Gardens is where the Pride Parade will have the party next month - really looking forward to that!

Fiona was also taking a selfie on her phone, lol!

Comment, tag, note and tributes all welcome. Encourage her to do/show some more.

comments and fav are greatly appreciated !!! ;-)

Having missed our annual weekend in Newcastle last year we were really looking forward to it this time round, and it didn't disappoint!

Friday night we met up with two friend we hadn't seen in a long while.

Steph came with us to Eazy Street bar first off, then on to The Stand comedy club for a night of stand-up comedy which she really enjoyed - something she had not done before in female mode so it was a new experience for her, and a very enjoyable night for us all. I do love a bit of live comedy.

After the comedy we went on to our favourite Newcastle venue, Rusty's where Fiona came to meet us too. Was a fantastic evening, and so lovely to catch up with two dear friends.

Hotel selfies before heading out.

I decided to end the month by rolling back the years and having a night in my old favourite pink dress.

COMMENT IF YOU FAVE

I decide I wanted to make a new Batman figure since the one I made for the DC project is not great. This one and the figs following this one are inspired by 2 things. The DCAU suit primarily the suits worn in The New Batman Adventures as well as the Arkham games.

The legs have e-tape boots and the knee pads are painted. The underwear (overwear?) was something I went back and forth on but I decided I’d do it cause it’s just that iconic. The belt is made of of varies bits of paper, plastic and procreate as well as the LBM belt piece.

The torso has some sculpted muscles and I think these are much better that the other ones of the other Batman fig. The emblem is TNBA inspired and the bits on the sides are Arkham city inspired.

The arms have some e-tape gauntlets and some dry sculpted fins. It is one piece for the fins separated by painted lines.

The cowl was a 2012 cowl cut in half and the head was a head from the LBM line. The cape was a regular LEGO cape.

For the first time, I went for a weekend visit to Gemma's and we had a great time! We packed loads into a couple of days.

Saturday morning we were up early to go to Dovedale in the Peak District. What a stunningly beautiful place it is! So picturesque! I loved every minute.

Because it's a well known area of outstanding natural beauty, it gets busy early so we made sure we arrived as soon as the car park opened. That meant it was reasonably quiet walking outwards, but coming back there were so many people!

I showed the pictures to my Sister wjhen I got home and she loved them so much, she took her family there camping the very next weekend!

Here was the point we turned around and headed back to the car.

During the reign of Sancho VII "the Strong" (late twelfth century, the beginning of the XIII century) was built a castle in Olite defensive over a core of Roman times. Later this was improved during the reign of his successors Theobald Theobald I and II, the Champagne house. The first area is known as the Old Palace or Palace of Tybalt, and which houses the Parador Nacional. In its current internal layout is not any trace of the time. The kings of Navarre used to come to him sporadically, as well as other residences scattered throughout the Old Kingdom. Each monarch had preferences for certain houses, but none could be considered his permanent residence. This character "nomadic" began to disappear with Charles II "the Bad" (second half of XIV century) where, after unsuccessful attempts to seize the crown of France (1360), decided to focus on the government of his kingdom, always constantly alert to the constant attacks of Castile and Aragon. We also know that during this time, there were two smaller palaces contiguous, one of which corresponded to the Infante Luis, brother and lieutenant of Charles II.

The expansion work that led to the compound we know today, were made during the reign of Charles III "the Glorious", the house of Evreux. Although born in France, most of his youth was spent in Olite, which explains his preference for this town. During his early reign was forced to resolve the complex political heritage of his father, but once done, could develop a full court life and full of grandeur, typical of a stable kingdom. The first works were works of repair: Roof, paint, etc. .. The next step was to solve the problem of lack of space. Thus, in 1388 bought a number of houses and plots for a square (Plaza de los Teobaldos) front of the palace to offer wider access and dignified. It was still the old palace. Later, it was decided the extension of the palace with new construction. During this time, there was an event that decisively influenced the further evolution of the works. And, soon after King Charles III married Eleanor of Trastámara, this left him returning to his native Castile. All attempts to bring her back were in vain. Regardless of the more than certain political connotations of this attitude, Queen Eleanor argued his refusal to return to her husband, stating that in Navarra economic resources were limited, and that was also life-threatening. Thus, only when King Charles gave the assurance to her brother, King Juan I of Castile, Leonor that requests would be addressed, this returned to Navarre. This happened in March 1395. The king's efforts to fulfill its promise, resulting in a sudden impulse to the work of reform and improvement of the palace. Is your mood was that of his wife surround a court environment as pleasant as possible. In 1399 more lots are purchased by the Church of Santa Maria, to build new rooms for the queen, and in 1400, to proceed with the extension of these, turn to buy homes and neighboring solar Jewry . The building of the New Palace of Carlos III faced no premeditated scheme as a whole, and therefore the final result corresponds to a juxtaposition of new units, buildings and gardens. The first phase saw the rooms of the palace for the queen, called Queen's Palace or New Tower, the royal chapel and some minor local and passages to the north of the church. In a second phase, we undertook the construction of so-called Palace of the King. It integrates a large tower, resting on the enclosing wall of the town, and called Golden Gallery. These works were completed by the year 1406. A small turret next to the Great Tower, two new galleries and the arrangement of the gardens were works to be executed next. Between 1411 and 1414, completed the building of the outer towers of the palace: the Ochavada the Joyosa Guarda, Fenedo the Portal and the Four Winds. The set was almost over and his face was almost final. There were only some smaller rooms, which were built according to new requirements or the rate of appropriate repairs. The last major renovation took place in the late fifteenth century by Catherine de Foix and John III d'Albret. And finally, having ceased to be an independent kingdom Navarre, Marquis of Almazan introduced by the year 1584, some changes such as the front entrance to the Old Palace topped by a coat of arms referred to Philip II.

Due to unexpected ccircumstances, sadly I was unable to get to Leeds in time for the Friday night as I usually would, so instead I went on the Saturday.

We went to see the comedy show at the Fenton and then on to Pryzm for a bit of music and dancing.

We had a new friend with us this time - Kimberley who had been out on the Friday, but couldn't get a makeover organised for Saturday so she came out in her male persona.

In Pryzm later on in the night. I love this photo Sarah took, it's a very unusual view.

expired 1998 film!!! i know its not crazy old or anything... but still. its 1000 speed, so super grainy by nature... and all my film came out like this, split in half.

This was a lovely sunny June day, and I decided to go down to my parents' to see them - from outside, of course as they are shielding. My Dad was sleeping though, so I only saw my Mum but it was still lovely. I had a wander around their little garden too whlie I was there, admiring the pond.

Comments are highly appreciated.

Gemma came up to Hull for Christmas again.

In Savile Row. We've not been in here since May, I think the last time was.

With the wonderful Gloria Hole, the resident drag DJ.

It was 1982, and I was a single mom, and somewhat of a floozy. I was not into drugs nor being an alcoholic, though. Just lots of dancing, flirting and chocolate, and an occasional immoral, eccentric, but not illegal activity. Chocolate was one of my 4 food groups. In fact, I think it was 75% of my 4 food groups.

I had a very nice income without having to work. It covered rent and utilities and food, and some basic things like that. It did not however, cover things like $400 or $500 worth of car repair or another $470 worth of motorcycle repair. In one month’s time I had about $900 worth of transportation repair, and neither my car nor my motorcycle was running.

At a cocktail lounge and dance club called Foo’s in Eugene, Oregon, which is no longer in business, there was a braggart. Well, probably more than one braggart, but I am talking about one specific man there. He was frequently talking about how many wonderful buys on cars he had made, and that he had six cars in his driveway that he got for $100 or less, and made a big profit on. It felt to me like he was dangling steak in front of a starving dog.

I mentioned this to a man who was my friend, and said if that if someone were really my friend, they would find me a hundred dollar car. I could surely use one. He said that he would find me one. True to his word, he did. That evening I did not have $100; so I made a little chart of a thermometer like United Way might use, with a little sketch of a car at the top. I felt, rightly so, that it would be easier to ask 100 people for a dollar than to ask one person for a hundred dollars. I went around to my friends at Foo’s and asked if they could lend me a dollar toward the car, and told them I could pay them back in a few days.

I have covered their last names on my little chart for their privacy, not mine. This was nearly 30 years ago, and I don’t care. My little fund grew and grew and grew, and even went over $100. I joked that if I had known I had so many friends, I would have bought a Corvette.

I told my friends that I would pay them back next time I got paid. I think many of them thought, “Oh yeah, sure!” When I received my check for the month, I went to the bank and got 100 crisp new dollar bills. That night I went out with my list in hand, and got initials by as many people as were there. Some said never mind, it was a gift; and some were just mildly surprised that I intended to pay it back.

I had promised my lenders that when I got the car, I would get a bumper sticker made that said, “This Car Financed by 100 of My Friends.” There was a bumper sticker place in town that promised they could print anything; so that is what I did. It got a few laughs at stop lights and places like that. I also enjoyed surprising people who never thought I would really do that. I enjoy being somewhat eccentric in ways that pleasantly surprise people. That was my night to shine.

What I did buy was a 1969 Dodge. It was blue with a white racing striped wrapped around the trunk area. It had a white hard top. The biggest problem was that the driver’s door wouldn’t open. I had to crawl in the passenger side. For the great price on the car, that was a problem I could live with.

The most embarrassing time was when I had just started a new business, which is a different story, and drove up to a car dealership, and a salesman came out to greet me on the driver’s side. I had to tell him I would get out the other side. I felt kind of ridiculous, but I persevered. It struck me as funny how some people would act sort of ashamed on my behalf, but others would seem a bit impressed that I wasn’t flustered, and almost proud of me. I got out of my new car as if that were the way everyone did.

My progress chart is a real study in sociology. At least six people on it that I know of got married since then. At least one committed suicide. At least two died of cancer. One was murdered by her husband and her body thrown in the Long Tom River.

Eventually the car bit the dust, but even that was under unusual circumstances. I was on the way driving it to a wrecking yard. I took water for the radiator in the only big container I could find at the time. It was a Tupperware super large Fix ‘n Mix bowl, very awkward for pouring. It was also a ten dollar bowl which was a lot of money for me in 1982. I suspect now in this new millennium that they are $20 or $30. I had the title with me for the Dodge, fully expecting that I would not make it all the way to the wrecking yard. Sure enough, I didn’t. I had to be towed. I sold the car and only got $40 for it, and paid $7 for a cab ride back home. When I got home I realized I had left my Tupperware bowl in the back seat. I immediately called the wrecking yard and asked if they could get it and hold it for me until I could get out that way again. The manager told me, “Nah, that car has already been crushed!” I believed him, because I wasn’t experienced in the ways of wrecking yards; and because I wasn’t assertive enough at that time in my life to call him a liar. Well, they don’t crush cars within half hour of getting them. I think the manager’s girlfriend just got herself a nice kitchen bowl. I saw the very same car less than a year later on the road. They did not crush it!

My indignation over selling my car for basically $23 ($40 minus the bowl and the cab ride) led me to ideas about a new business. One could say that the end of my Dodge was the beginning of a new endeavor .

I wrote to this gentleman and asked if I could use a picture he took of a car like the one in my story. He answered, and said it was OK. If you do go see his car picture, please leave a pleasant comment for him. I don't even know the man, and that is the least we could do.

The car is about the same as mine was except mine had full wheel covers and not center caps.

These anti aircraft forts were constructed in 1942 to defend London from air attack as the Luftwaffe bombers would use the Thames to navigate to London. They are sometimes called Maunsell Forts after their designer Guy Maunsell. They are arranged in a group of 7 with access via a ladder from a boat. A system of walkways connected all the towers together: a remnant of which can be seen in this photo. Many enemy aircraft were shot down by them but being small targets they were never hit by bombs. Gunnery crews would live on them for weeks at a time.

With an eye on utility rather than poetry they were first called:

Thames Estuary Special Defence Units No's 1-4 (TESD or TESDU's). Before being given the code name 'Uncle'.

Pirate radio stations operated from them in the 1960s.

Several TV and cinematic sci-fi monsters, aliens and spaceships may have been inspired by them.

Gemma came up to Hull for Hallowe'en weekend and we had a fantastic time!

Friday night we went to Cognac for divine French food then on to the Star where we had a great time! We got chatting to a couple of beautiful girls in costume - Charlotte and Sharon - and a random gay couple bought us a bottle of Prosecco becvause they thought we were awesome! How lovely is that? I mean, I don't drink so of course I couldn't have any but the gesture was just lovely.

This is the lovely Charlotte and Sharon.

Thank you everyone for visiting, commenting and fav'ing - very much appreciated!

This is an example of a high light contrast where HDR photography really makes a difference. The sun is behind the head of my son. With a regular photo you may get the proper exposure for the foreground, but then the sky is all white. Or, you get the proper exposure for the sky, but then the foreground is black. As an alternative, you could turn on the flash, but then you get harsh colors and no plasticity. You can fix those issues by taking 3 exposures without flash, covering a total range of about 9 f-stops, then process those exposures into an HDR image.
