Hull has a new footbridge and it has coloured LEDs lighting it up! It's a footbridge over to the marina and it's actually quite a beautiful piece of architecture.
We wanted to get some footbridge footage so decided to glam it up a bit. But it was SO COLD!!! On the video you can hear the wind, it was biting! So our trip out lasted about 2 minutes then we jumped striaght back in the car and came home, ha ha!
I totally love the awesome photobombing by the girl in the background, brilliant!

I challenged myself to remake the Gryphon but at a much smaller size. Here is the result.

Just throwing this one up there... I should wait for my film images, but, eh... it's always hard to stop thinking about how beautiful Proxy Falls is.
In this case, it was also very wet. I had an out-of-town friend visit this weekend, and I took him to some familiar places: the food carts, Powell's, Voodoo Doughnuts, Broder's, etc. There was also an educational walk down Hawthorne that included a game that I like to call "Identify the Hipster". We only had a day to really "get out", and it was Saturday... so instead of the Gorge (too crowded for my tastes on the weekend), we made the drive down to Proxy.
And, wow. Did we ever get drenched. And hailed on! Even taking umbrellas didn't help a whole lot (don't get on my case too much for the umbrellas... I was trying to protect the gear in some small way). I waded up to my knees across the bottom of the falls, to reach this almost spray-free area on the right, where I perched for the better part of an hour. By the time I came down, I couldn't feel my fingers. And when I reached my friend again (he had waited patiently at the base), I found him shivering uncontrollably.
And yet, he says the experience did not dissuade him from considering a move out here. Heh.
Anyway. It's been a great weekend, and I hope you all enjoyed yours!

This high-key clematis flower is past it's prime. A flowering one is seen in comments.
These captures have another purpose. I just received a 50mm f/1.8 lens as a gift and this was my first "practice" with it. The DOF it produces is amazing. Now to get Becca in front of it. :-)

What a fantastic weekend!
It had been a few months since Gemma was last in Hull (too long!) and for the second time this year (Birmingham in March was the first) we went to see Kinky Boots at the theatre
What an awesome show it was - again!
What made this time extra special was that my Mum was with us this time.
It was the first time my Mum (and my Dad, since he gave us a lift to the theatre) had met Gemma, and the first time they had met me in full glam.
After a brilliant show, we walked across town to The Star. The same night in Hull, Adam Ant was playing and our lovely friend Mike went to see him, so Mike came to meet us in The Star afterwards as well!

I discovered this old stone building so I explored it.
There was a lift and circular stairway going down to lower level. I could not get down the stairway it was dark and seemed blocked at the bottom.

Croatia's first National park (Plitvice Lake) established in 1949 covers 296.85 km2 of breathtaking natural splendor. The park was inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1979, in recognition of its "outstanding natural beauty and undisturbed production of travertine (tufa) through chemical and biological action". The park represents a phenomenon of karst hydrography.
The park harbours a grand collection of waterfalls, gallery of lakes, forest and diversity of animal life. The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. The sixteen lakes which are formed by natural dams of travertine are separated into upper and lower lakes. About eight km of pathways and wooden walking trails around lakes are accessible to visitors. Trails are descending from an altitude of 636m to 503m above sea level.

Sooo... Monday night was the first of two date nights! A very new experience for me and I had a lovely time with Mike.
We went to one of Gemma's favourite Hull places - Furley & Co - then on the the Masters Bar for a couple of drinks.
School night so it was a reasonably early one - I was home before turning into a pumpkin, lol!

A taste of things to come for a while at least. With nowhere to go, and no visits from Gemma until April, my photos are mostly glam nights in.
