Hallowe;en weekend Gemma came to Hull for a visit and on the Friday I put on my kinda goth outift and we went to Propaganda to see our friend Twiggy. We hadn't seen her since she left the Star earlier in the year so it was lovely to have a catch up.
This vivid orange and yellow gallardia was one of several among the other lovely white flowers bought for me by my kids for Mothers Day. Whos a lucky girl then.!!!!!

I had a very quiet LFF in May, curtailed because I had earache! Still, I made it out for a few hours and still managed to have a good time, although I didn't make it to any of the other bars.
Finally got selfies with the lovely Emily Martin - and of course we forgot the bins lol!

What a fantastic weekend!
It had been a few months since Gemma was last in Hull (too long!) and for the second time this year (Birmingham in March was the first) we went to see Kinky Boots at the theatre
What an awesome show it was - again!
What made this time extra special was that my Mum was with us this time.
It was the first time my Mum (and my Dad, since he gave us a lift to the theatre) had met Gemma, and the first time they had met me in full glam.
After a brilliant show, we walked across town to The Star. The same night in Hull, Adam Ant was playing and our lovely friend Mike went to see him, so Mike came to meet us in The Star afterwards as well!

I was casting about for which dress to wear and found this one. It was a charity shop bargain I picked up a while ago for only £2.00!

For the first time in so so long, I went back to Leeds First Friday!
Saturday night Gemma and I went back to the Marriott for a drink before going on to the Hifi Club to watch stand-up comedy, which was fantastic! It has become our new Saturday night place to go.
Afterwards we stopped off for a drink in Smokestack.
This is the lovely Sam who we met in the Marriott.

Notes on design
Though this looks spontaneous it is framed with the lady oriented along the diagonal, seemingly by design (compare with the original).

A taste of things to come for a while at least. With nowhere to go, and no visits from Gemma until April, my photos are mostly glam nights in.

Denis et moi sommes retournés à cette vieille mine désaffectée.
Cet endroit qui me charme complètement. Nous nous trouvions très élevés en altitude. Une vue à couper le souffle sur des dizaines de km. Personne pour nous déranger. Un vent toujours présent qui m'a poussé, sous une impulsion à remplacer mes vêtements par la chemise de Denis afin d'avoir le vent qui souffle dedans.
Le travail d'équipe avec Denis est si amusant et porteur de bons résultats. J'ai des idées, il excelle en technique, de belles créations en ressortent forcément.
C'est fou comme il arrive à me faire sentir belle en photos.
Ça vient parfaitement à point dans une période de ma vie ou je me trouve un peu moche.

Oops - forgot this one from June.
So I got brave and bought myself an epilator!
I have to admit I was not looking forward to the first use one little bit! I have a low pain threshold. But in fact it was a lot less painful than I expected - and I have been using it ever since. I am a convert!
I think it helps that I've been on hormones for near on 2 years, which will mean the hairs are finer and softer, and it helps that I epilated under a hot shower. I would describe the sensation as similar to being on a beach on a gusty day, with the sand particles hitting you legs and arms. I thought my first session of laser hair removal was way more painful than this, and even that was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.
My legs did look like a plucked chicken for the rest of the day though, ha ha!

We had such an amazing weekend in Newcastle in September, we decided to go for another one in November!
Saturday night we went to TGI Fridays for tea then, on the recommendation of one of the serving staff at TGIs, we decided to try out a different place called Sgt Peppers. We really enjoyed it in there, and will definitely be going back!
After that we went down to Rusty's where we had a quieter night than the night before, but still an amazing time meeting lots of lovely people!

This was a lovely sunny June day, and I decided to go down to my parents' to see them - from outside, of course as they are shielding. My Dad was sleeping though, so I only saw my Mum but it was still lovely. I had a wander around their little garden too whlie I was there, admiring the pond.

As is our tradition, Gemma came to Hull for Christmas.
Christmas Eve we had home-made raspberry cheesecake before heading out to The Star for the evening. It was a very quiet one in The Star though so we ended up coming home quite early.
