While this open water perch doesn't look very comfortable it does provide a better view and it keeps this Green Heron away from turtles. There were some huge snapping turtles moving around the area.
Yes, so we try to return to our relationship again... me, my garden and its inhabitants. I had an unfortunate fall about a month ago and hurt my shoulder badly. Now the damage from that accident has recovered to the extent that I can comfortably hold my camera.
A stekel of some kind (?) is the first individual to my humble delight to model like this after the new reckoning of time...
More modern and comfortable way to get to the camp. I was fortunately enough to ride this machine back.

Daily Dog Challenge: Dots &/or Dashes
Etta has lots of 'dots' and a few scar 'dashes'.
The leopard is so comfortable in the trees that it often leads its prey to the branches. The leopard is an elegant and strong feline related to lions, tigers and jaguars. I saw this beautiful animal during the blue hour in the vicinity of the Masai Mara.

Better Together, Jack Johnson:
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together
Back in May I upgraded my camera and was testing it out along Garstang canal. Taken at pre-sunset when the wind speed was low and there was some nice light.
Amtrak AEM7-911 is S/B on the Northeast Corridor, passing Conrail's Orangeville Terminal, with an LRC (Light, Rapid & Comfortable) set behind, led by power unit 38. PADDY: “Scout! Bogart! Rosie!” *Looks around.* “Where are you?”
SCOUT: “Paddy! Paddy!” *Distant.*
*BEEP! BEEP!*
PADDY: “Scout! Scout is that you?”
SCOUT: “Yes! It’s me!” *BEEP! BEEP!* “Rosie, Bogart and me!” *BEEP! BEEP!* “We’re over here!”
PADDY: “Where?”
SCOUT: “Follow the sound of the horn, Paddy! Come and see!” *BEEP! BEEEEP!*
PADDY: *Follows sound of horn honking down the footpath.* “Goodness Scout! You’re in a camper van!”
SCOUT: “Hullo Paddy!” *Leans out of window. And waves enthusiastically.* “I know! And look! It’s pink! My favourite colour! Isn’t it glamorous?” *Strokes camper van’s door lovingly with paw.*
PADDY: “Goodness yes, Scout! It’s very striking!”
BOGART: “And it’s American too!” *Smiles.*
PADDY: “Oh! Hullo Bogart!” *Waves to Bogart.*
BOGART: “Hullo Paddy!” *Waves to Paddy from the passenger seat.*
PADDY: “How do you know its American, Bogart?”
BOGART: “Because the driver sits on the left-hand side!”
SCOUT: *Beeps horn. BEEP! BEEP!*
BOGART: “It’s very comfortable in here.” *Shuffles bottom on seat.*
PADDY: “But where did the campervan come from, Scout and Bogart?”
SCOUT: “Well, since your magic didn’t turn my pumpkin into a Scoutarella coach, Paddy...”
PADDY: “Well, I never actually said I had any magic, Scout.”
SCOUT: “Well, evidently the faeries were listening and they took pity on me, and provided this wonderful pink camper van for us. It was just sitting here under the tree, waiting to be driven.”
PADDY: “But Scout! You don’t know how to drive!” *Alarmed.*
SCOUT: *Oh Paddy!” *Giggles.* “Don’t worry! I will get some help from Daddy. I’ll tell him where to direct the camper van, and he can push it!”
BOGART: “That way we get the best of both worlds, Paddy! We can feel like we are driving, whilst being driven.” *Giggles.* "Think of it like an auto-pilot."
SCOUT: “Why don’t you get in the back with Rosie, Paddy? She is exploring the living areas of the camper van. Apparently, there is a stove, and even a refrigerator!”
BOGART: “Hopefully the faeries continue to provide, and there is food inside it! Grumbly tummy! Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*
SCOUT: “Grumbly tummy! Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*
Imagine the delight of Paddy, Scout, Bogart and Rosie when, whilst on a walk with me the other day, they came across a Barbie Dream Camper Van from 2017, left out on the footpath along with some other toys for anyone… or anybear to take! Recycling at its best!
My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Bogart has travelled all the way from Georgia, via Alabama as a gift to me from a friend. He has lovely Southern manners and seems to be a fun and gentle soul with an inquisitive nature.
Model Mayhem Model Mary. Reminded me that I wanted to do a White Sheets shoot. I said, "Really? I wanted to do a White Sheets Shoot?" Thanks to my son C.J. for helping out and getting everything ready.

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone

Biosciences at UC Berkeley. I’m fond of this one as a great place to sit in comfortable chairs and read!
Normally, there are students sitting at those big tables. This is early morning. I'm seated in one of the v comfortable leather armchairs, 6 of which are located at each end of the space.
Fresh into the Canyon, the crew of Watco's Agawa Canyon train performs the run around move during the 90 minute layover. While our car wasn't the most comfortable the train ride was well worth it, amazing weather and some good color along the way.
This winter storm front pushing through the area has got some birds on the move. Its been a few wweeks since the Pine Siskins were here, but a few showed up today while I was hoping for the nuthatch to come by so I took some shots. They didnt stay posed here for too long before checking out the feeders and then flying off but I got one anyway! The winter birds are starting to get comfortable with me outside and the sounds the camera makes, so hopefully this winter season will yield some ( more ) good birds!!
Comfortably Numb
Pink Floyd
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
Going with something a little different here. Had fun processing this one. Hope you like "Comfortably Numb". Cheers, Mike
Hi everyone!
I've suddenly realized, I haven't been on Flickr to comment or post any pictures in practically a week!
Everyone went back to work after the holidays, and it's been so very quiet. Just me and the critters!
I wasn't ready to take down the holiday decorations, so I've been basking in my holiday after-glow and catching up on some reading, and binge watching a pile of DVD'S I've been meaning to get to.
The weather for the most part has been dismal, so I've been taking my lead from Floydd and have been lounging about on the couch.
Trying to catch up with everyone....but I'm still behind.
A neat capture of freshly rebuilt MDOT #7183 at UP's Proviso yard on it's way east from MK at Boise. The UP GP7 coupled behind may at first glance seem jarring, but these 1st generation cousins should be quite comfortable with each other. Ray Weart photo, JL Sessa collection.
another quick edit - and now, for the boys! males have always intimidated me over the years; i never really felt comfortable shaping them. ive been spending some more time lately playing with male heads and just kind of letting myself feel them out.
