It's true. Only eleven days into this, and I'm already dangerously close to burning out. I'm taking a day off. The "missing" comic will be made up for later on.
On our long drive from PA back Idaho we decided to check out some new sights. Our route took us through Kansas - a state we have never spent much time in. I noted in our National Geographic atlas something called the Combat Air Museum at Topeka airport. Being an airplane nerd Heather let me stop for a quick visit. The museum itself was pretty cool - it consists of two large hangers and some outdoor static displays. One hanger contains restored aircraft while the other hanger is loaded with planes in various stages of disrepair - I found it amazing. These planes are awaiting funding and people to restore them. I thought this was a great stop - worth checking out.

Cette photo a été prise à Martigny en 2009. Les vaches sont impressionnantes. Quand on les voit attachér en dehors de l'arène, elles semblent calmes; elles ont un regard très doux. Une fois dans l'arène, elles cherchent contre quelle partenaire elles vont bien pouvoir s'affronter.
J'ai trouvé merveilleux le respect qu'il y a entre les animaux d'une part. Il y a juste un rapport de force mais pas de violence pure.
D'autre part, un véritable amour existe entre les vaches et leurs propriétaires. Ces derniers n'hésitent en effet pas de faire interrompre le combat s'ils trouvent leur Reine un peu fatiguée. Ce n'est pas du tout quelque chose de cruel comme les corridas, heureusement!
C'est un spectacle que je recommande en tout cas; ne serait-ce que pour entendre les vaches lorsqu'elle observent vers qui combattre.
