Ce comportement sert à établir la domination et les mâles qui gagnent les combats de cou ont un plus grand succès reproductif. Les girafes broutent pendant les premières et dernières heures de la journée. Entre ces heures, les Girafes du Nord restent debout et ruminent. La rumination est l'activité dominante pendant la nuit, où elle s'effectue principalement en position couchée.
🇬🇧 Northern giraffes use their necks as weapons in combat, a behaviour known as ‘necking’. This behaviour serves to establish dominance, and males that win neck-fighting contests enjoy greater reproductive success. Giraffes graze during the early and late hours of the day. In between, Northern giraffes remain standing and ruminate. Rumination is the dominant activity at night, when it is carried out mainly whilst lying down.

Le giraffe pascolano nelle prime e nelle ultime ore della giornata. Nel resto del tempo, le giraffe del Nord rimangono in piedi e ruminano. La ruminazione è l'attività dominante durante la notte, quando avviene principalmente in posizione sdraiata.

Tree Swallows fighting over a desirable nesting hole at John Heinz NWR. This fighting was quite intense with the swallows actually falling into the water while they were fighting.

These two eagles took to the air to continue their ground fight over the fish, a Ling Cod. Eventually the other eagle stole the fish in mid-air.

Alguns dels combats més forts de l'aixecament de Varsòvia el 1944 contra els nazis foren al barri vell i els seus accessos per el sud. Aquí els polonesos del Armia Krajowa aprofitaren els carrers estrets per reforçar el barri amb barricades, la més famosa de les quals fou la del carrer Piwna. Els alemanys assaltaren aquesta barricada des del 11 d'agost amb les maleïdes tropes de la Brigada Dirlewanger, criminals de guerra que venien d'arrassar el barri de Wola a sang i foc. Aquí no pogueren passar i la barricada aguanta assalts amb blindats Stug III i llançaflames. Tambe fou una fortalessa l'església de St. Martí, que podeu veure aquí (Kościół pw. św. Marcina). No fou fins el 2 de setembre, després de setmanes de combats, que tot el barri vell fou evacuat per les clavegueres abans no fossin anorreats. Després els nazis mataren tothom i volaren les ruines que quedaven de forma deliverada.
Aquesta foto forma part de tot un viatge pel centre de Polònia, enfocat especialment en els més tragics moments del Holocaust i la II Guerra Mundial, que esclafà Polonia com pocs llocs, però que alhora contrasta amb l'increible renaixement del país fins al moment actual.

Some of the fiercest fighting of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 against the Nazis was in the old quarter (Stare Miasto) and its southern approaches. Here the Poles of the Armia Krajowa took advantage of the narrow streets to reinforce the medieval quarter with barricades, the most famous of which was the one on Piwna Street. The Germans stormed this barricade from August 11 with the damned troops of the Dirlewanger Brigade, war criminals who had just razed the Wola neighborhood to the ground. They could not pass here and the barricade withstood assaults with Stug III armored vehicles and flamethrowers. And beyond that stood like a fortress the church of St. Martin (Kościół pw. św. Marcina), seen here. It was not until September 2, after weeks of fighting, that the entire old quarter was evacuated through the sewers before they were destroyed.
This photo is part of a trip through central Poland, focused especially on the most tragic moments of the Holocaust and World War II, which devastated Poland like few places, but which at the same time contrasts with the incredible rebirth of the country up to the present day.

Two juvenile American Bald Eagles engaging in aerial combat over sticks the one Eagle is carrying. Fairly sizable crop on this one, but still lots of detail so I thought it worth while to post. I spent 3 days down Conowingo over the past 7 days and while their was action, much of it has been far off. That said, I do plan on making a few more visits before Eagle season ends in another month or so. View large for best combat experience! :D
